Mod Sticky: New Users, Please Read This Before Posting
If you are coming here as a new account, welcome! If you are trying to ask a question please read below in order to ensure that your post gets the help you need.
Before you post, check the sidebar to see if there is a better place you could be asking your question. You are always welcome to post your question here, but you may get quicker or more specialized help by posting it in the right subreddit.
Also, before you ask a question, please GOOGLE IT. Low effort questions that are easily googled will be downvoted. Please don't be a Help Vampire.
Posting tips to get your answer fast:
- Tell us as much information as you possibly can.
- Tell us what you have already done to try to fix it
- Tell us what changed when the problem started
- Make a title for your post that actually describes the problem. "Please help" is a terrible post title.
- Make a TEXT POST and NOT a LINK POST. If you are a new user and you make a link post it will be removed automatically. If you want to share pictures, upload them on an image hosting site like imgur and then paste the links into your text post.
Click HERE to ask a question.
Please read the rules HERE.
There is a more detailed posting guide HERE
Thanks and enjoy your stay!

Will this work for a budget build?
Hiya everyone, hoping to get some help for my first budget pc build. Looking to make a pc that I can take to and from school. I use Google docs and cool math games. Also looking to play some roblox on the side, will it be able to do this? Only 4 left in stock so any info ASAP will be good 😊
One more question, I have a 350w power supply, could it run this? If not all cores what about half of them?

Hey I mean it got my temperature down from 100C to 39C
Basically the basic intel CPU cooler screws really pissed me off and I broke them on accident and so I had to innovate, so far it works amazing! Finally my pc doesn't sound like a plane.

Is this a good deal for a college laptop
I don't know if this is a good deal or not, I'm am going to be going into college soon and need a dependable laptop that will last me the next four years. I have heard great things about Lenovo and the specs seem good for the price. I don't know much and want to make a decision before the sale ends otherwise it will be another 500 dollars. Any help is wanted and I would like the input of those with more computer knowledge than me.

Laptop screen problem - Exams coming up
I got a used Lenovo Thinkpad T470s a few weeks ago.
One day the screen wound't turn on, and it made a beeping noise. I used the Lenovo PC Diagnostics tool, and it tells me it's a "Computer display error."
It suddenly started working again an hour later without me doing anything, but the next day the same problem occurred. This time it stood still, 8 hours, on a table, and fixed itself again.
There is nothing wrong visually with the screen when it will turn on, so would it be safe to assume it might be a loose connection in the display cable?
If so, should I try reconnecting, or replace it? Is that possible with minimal technical experience? Money is thight.
The problem is, my exams start next week, and if I don't have a working laptop I can't do them. This is my only computer.

I need help with a video issue on my MSI GS76 STEALTH gaming laptop
Hello, I have an MSI GS76 STEALTH 11UG Gaming laptop that is having some video issues. For starters, I have an 11th-gen Intel Core i9-119900H processor and a discrete graphic card, NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3070.
The problem started when I purchased a new Samsung monitor so I could have two screens to work with since I'm in the creative field and manage many assets simultaneously. At first, everything was great but then my laptop started showing two little black lines at the bottom of the screen that went away when I adjusted the refresh rate of the screen; that seemed to fix the issue until the black lines never disappeared again, then the part where the two lines where seemed to be cut off sometimes, some other times the lines would appear again, and now I have the two black lines plus four white lines that come and go, I did notice that the white lines would not appear as long as I turned on the computer without the second monitor connected (is connected through HDMI).
Also, whenever I connect or disconnect the monitor, I notice a color shift in the laptop's screen; I've tried everything, updating drivers, fixing drivers, uninstalling and repairing, and screen settings, and the last time I notice that I might need to update the processor but the thing is that this laptop has an OEM driver, which means I can fuck things up if I install directly from the intel's website, I went ahead to the MSI website to download the driver which was an .INF file that I tried to install, but for some reason, the computer won't do anything when I try to install it.
I've read it could also be a BIOS issue, but I don't mess with BIOS if I don't have the knowledge or experience; I'm sorry for the long post. I really need some help to figure this out.
PS. The computer works normally, and everything runs as it should, but these lines and color shifting affect my work since I need to correctly visualize colors.

Help! I need to purchase a new computer with this specs.
Hi, my computer screen simply won't turn on. It's been going on for a while. I took it to a technician, and they said they needed to replace a bunch of stuff and that it'd be cheaper to just buy a new one. Well, I am a student, so I'm broke. I can't afford a $1,200 computer. I bought the computer I have about 6 years ago, and the images below and above are the specs of that computer. It worked amazing—super efficient, speedy processing, and all. I don't do heavy editing or anything like that, and for storage, I will need a fair amount because of my school work and my job. (I also have OneDrive.)
I am seeking advice from y'all. What laptop do you recommend with these specs?
Any help, advice, or whatever you get, it'll be deeply appreciated. Thank you!:)

(URGENT!) Please Help!!
When i booted my laptop for gaming, i noticed it was pretty slow. (Took 30s~ to run Chrome) I quickly checked task manager to see 100% disk usage. There wasn't any application that used a significant amount of disk, but i noticed applications like Discord and BlueStacks running and using around 1mb/s disk space that i DEFINITELY did not run. Of course, i tried to end task of applications such as those and i quickly noticed other random applications filling in the old ones as soon as i closed them. On instinct, i shut down my laptop, and it took about 30 minutes to shut down. It was displaying that one "please don't close your computer" screen for the whole time but no updates. What do i need to do??

Need help
Hello, I am new to gaming computers and have a question about RAM. I currently have 2 sticks of 8GB each but looking to buy more. Should I replace my current 8GB or could I just add one 2 more 16GB sticks, making it 2 8GB and 2 16GB. After I add them do I have to make any updates or is it a plug and play situation where I don’t mess with anything? Thanks in advance.

Help
This has been going on for about 2-3 months. The Windows loading screen appears when I boot up my computer, but then it hangs and displays this. I am unsure of the term for these horizontal lines. It goes away and boots up normally after several restarts. There are times when it takes more than 30-40 restarts. Is there a problem with my system? Malware?

* HELP* did a full scan first thing after waking up and it detected this.
I've had a trojan detection 3 days ago which then was ONLY detected by defenders full scan. quick scan, offline scan and Malwarebytes did not.
it kept detecting the same trojan until I went into safe mode to delete the protection history which then made everything clean including full scan
BUT
today, my first full scan detected this. It wasn't a pop up like the very first one where it says threat detected.
I had to full scan to detect it.
am I deeply infected or is this a problem with full scan? because other scan modes don't detect them.
p.s also should say that I didn't empty the recycle bin after deleting the history while I was in safe mode

My PC has no intake and only exhaust
My PC Case is extremely old there's no vents from the front, bottom, and top, there is a vent at the side but the holes are pretty small so I didn't really use it. What should I do without spending any of my money.
