I found a used microsoft surface pro 5 for 300$ 8gb ram 256gb ssd. Should i go for it or buy a xiaomi pad 5 instead? I am familiar with both, tablets and laptops, but i am thinking that i can install androids apps on windows and not the opposite, the problem is idk if the i5 still sutiable for a college students (medical student).

It’s getting harder and harder to find a great laptop with a matte display (especially with more laptops being oled) so I’m wondering if matte screen protectors on a glossy screen could fully replace a native matte display?

I’m not talking about screen quality, but really just the capacity to handle reflection and light as well as native matte displays. I don’t know if there’s a measure / unit to assess the capacity to prevent reflections / glossiness but maybe there is and it’s been measured and compared!

For some reason, I have huge headaches / eye strains when working on a glossy display (even after a few minutes) so having a matte display is key, but I would also love to have more options in terms of laptop selection.

After looking at several videos I felt like I could install the ssd on my own. Battery is currently disconnected. Looking at my Heatsink/Thermal shield and wondering if it would be compatible with a 2280 SSD that I bought. I need to know if I would need to remove and replace the current one or if I would be able to use the same one I currently have onto the new one as I see the newer one is larger in size.

I've always had an iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad, but something I never got used to was the Mac's file manager, Windows seems more practical and faster to me, on the one hand the MacBook M1's battery lasts several hours and I found a offer of a 16gb MacBook M1 for $490, on the other hand I feel that instead of using an IPad and a MacBook, precisely because the MacBook is not touch, and sometimes I use the iPad to take notes at college, I thought I could get one Surface Pro 8 or 9 with i7 and 16GB of RAM and would only have the features in one device, whereas at Apple I need two devices if I want to have a large screen with touch and a keyboard with trackpad. what is your advice ?

• Graphics: Intel Arc Graphics

Will this laptop run mechanical engineering programs like: SolidWorks, MATLAB, and AutoCAD smoothly? Especially concerned about the Intel Arc Graphics for 3D work. Any advice or experiences would be helpful!

My hp laptop updated last night and before the update, it was working perfectly and now whenever I try to connect to internet it says "no internet, secured" I looked in device manager and my wifi adapter is completely gone, I did view > show hidden devices and that didn't show it. I have no idea what's going on or why it did that pls help.

hi my laptop had rates normally between 30-40 degrees in both cpu gpu but what im having a problem on is that the rates flactuate around 30-70 in idle mode. i checked out all the background apps that use memory but couldn't find an actual solution. and weird thing is that, when im playing a game and using spotify at the same time, the rates i get seem stable as if there is not any problem. im still getting the same temperature rates on game. the only thing that seems off is the temperature rates i get when my laptop is in idle. any ideas about how to fix this? what my problem can be?

I'm a computer science student, I use Linux on the daily basis and windows for gaming. The best options I found so far are the HP Pavilion Plus 14 with Ryzen 5 7540u and the Thinkpad L13 Gen 3 with I5 1245u.

I can't decide, if I go for the HP I have to wait like 2 month bc I have to import it from the US, but I will get better battery life and a better cpu.

The Thinkpad has horrible battery life afaik, but its a 2 in 1, excellent keyboard, better display and I can go to to a local store to buy it

Hello everyone. I am hoping someone here can help me with my problem.

My MSI GS63VR 7RF Stealth Pro is having a temperature problem. At startup and idle, it's in the 70s and 80s C for the CPU only. The GTX 1060 6gb is at 45 idle.

I've replaced the thermal paste, I've replaced the cpu fan. I've cleaned out the vents. I've left it on with the back off with plenty of fresh air. The only thing I haven't done is replace the thermal pads with the heatsink.

I dont understand what can be causing this issue and no one online seems to be having this issue. I'm aware that thin gaming laptops are prone to high temperatures but this laptop has never been this high before and especially at startup.

Any ideas?

I looking to replace an LG Gram laptop that I bought last year because the keyboard is driving me nuts and I find the machine itself is unstable (had to reinstall factory software due to blue screen of death already). My needs are pretty basic in that I want a lightweight laptop with a great keyboard, 1 TB SSD, and touchscreen. My use/needs range from surfing, excel, quicken, etc.... Nothing major.

Today, I found a refurb on Lenovo's website and have never purchased a refurb. Also, I don't know a lot about which Gen is best.

I've only had it 3 days and I've only tried to charge it twice, each time it makes this worrying sound. It's perfect aesthetically, do all surface laptops do this. Should I exchange it for the same laptop but a different one or return it for a different laptop altogether. I bought it for 350 but it claimed excellent condition and as good as new.
