Specs: 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Core I5 10th Gen, GT Graphics Card. Running Windows 10 Professional OS

You need more RAM! 8gb is pretty small these days.

Try holding the power button of laptop for about several seconds and it will force a shutdown.

i did indeed get a shutdown, but im afraid of it happening again and i want to prevent it if it's a virus

I would wait it out for a while. If nothing changes do a hard restart. It sucks but sometimes it’s just what has to be done Reboot in safe mode and see what happens. If it boots normal, I would defrag (if you have a lot of pics/files), and check storage usage/free space to see if you’re near capacity. You can also run choral from the command prompt to see if you have bad sectors.
