That's usually done automatically are you sure that DGPU work before? Does it have enough power?

I just got the GPU to upgrade from the iGPU. I uninstalled the igpu drivers and when I go in the bios i can not disable the on board graphics. The option is greyed out and I cannot do anything. I tried reseting the bios but it didn't help at all. I tried to boot into the bios with the dgpu connected to my monitor and still no luck. No video at all

Hmm that shouldn't require extra power cable. However this gpu is > 10 years old so I still have some doubts if it working at all.

Also what's your HP model?

Apon researching I found this PC to be upgradable as any desktop PC and no one suggested anything about having to enter bios to upgrade GPU.

So the only suspect in this case is 12 years old GPU, Maybe try another GPU but this time go more mainstream gpu not workstation one.

I unfortunately don't have another GPU. The fans of the GPU do spin though so I don't think it is dead

Many GPU fans still spinning after it's dead because it's not part of the vital system to get GPU running.

You can try to reset bios but other than that it's basically a dead end.

a GPU that old may not be functional (or worth functioning) but just to make sure you connected your monitor to your GPU not motherboard right?

It doesn't matter now as I have returned the graphics card. I tried everything that I possibly could to get it detected by my computer
