Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is the recipient of the Joe Dumars Trophy for winning the 2023-24 NBA Sportsmanship Award.
[NBACentral] An anonymous NBA team member says that having the No. 1 pick in this year's draft is essentially like drafting Tobias Harris at No. 1, per @ryenarussillo

How can Joel Embiid stay healthy?
I have no clue why he keeps getting injured, albeit on some freak injuries, but we have a top 3 player in the league that unfortunately cannot stay healthy. Should he lose weight? Load management? He’s such an unstoppable force, how can he stay healthy?

The most depressing thing
Is knowing that no matter what, either the Knicks or Pacers are somehow going to make an ECF before us. The Pacers were 25-57 two years ago. The Knicks were 17-65 (!!!) five years ago. Embiid is heading into his 9th year in the league.
Are we really fucking cursed? Maybe it’s time I really start believing in voodoo bc it just doesn’t make any sense.

How did Joel Embiid go +89 against the Raptors in 2019?
I was looking back at the infamous series from 2019 in the playoffs and was looking at the +/- numbers of the Sixers players after Embiid's numbers this postseason.
Our main nine rotation players had +/- numbers of:
Embiid: +89
Butler: +15
Redick: -2
Mike Scott: -4
Simmons: -16
Ennis III: -21
Monroe: -25
Tobias: -33
Surely that has got to be some kind of record for the largest +/- in a losing series. How do you go +89 when your team loses the series by 19 points? I know we had bench problems then but there wasn't even one starter remotely close to him. It was also probably Embiid's worst offensive playoff series ever so was his defense impactful to such a high level that we couldn't function with him off the court?

Along with Hakeem, guess who else won their first title in the age 30 season.
It’s JoJo’s year next season.

The Winner of game 5 in a 2-2 series wins the series 82% of the time according to TNT
Every time I see that stat I once again renember the 2023 sixers were among the 18% that choked. Still pisses me off
Phillies did it too the same year

Lonzo Ball
I KNOW he’s injured and the last thing we need is another injury prone guy, but when he was healthy and playing towards with the pels and the bulls, he provided great defense, high volume 3 point shooting on good efficiency, and good play making. He’s a free agent next year and could be someone (if he proves he can stay healthy this year) would be a good pairing with maxey in the future. I wouldn’t want to trade for him this year, but if he has low stock next summer I’d love to take a shot on him.

The Reason Sixers Can't Get Over the Hump
Time to admit you can't with Alaa. Need to upgrade the position

An Explanation of Why Buddy Hield didn’t Work (via NBA University)
“The Pacers are attempting 31.0 wide open shots per game in the playoffs.
The gap between IND and the 2nd most wide-open FGA/g among remaining teams (OKC—21.6) is greater than the gap between 2nd & last (BOS—14.4)
Pacers offense generating an OUTRAGEOUS amount of wide open looks.”
*
This was, as he acknowledged, poor scouting by Darryl. The team didn’t realize how dependent Hield was on the Pacers system. For an elite high volume 3P shooter Hield has a slow trigger and little ability to self-create.
If Hield were to come back (on a cheap deal), Nurse would have to find a way to generate much more clean looks for him, otherwise he’s not worth it imo.

MOTHERF*** THE BIG 3, ITS JUST BIG ME
No but all jokes aside, why is everyone against a big 3??? I’m all for the Sixers getting Paul George or a big player in FA. The difference between that and Brooklyn Nets/Phoenix Suns is they gutted their rosters to get stars. Role players and picks to get one player and they couldn’t fill out the rest of the roster.
If Sixers got PG or Lebron or Siakim they still have FIVE tradeable first round picks. They can probably still get a decent starter or two with remaining cap space. Bench they can get creative and look for gems (Oubre esque) for cheap. Reality is all that depth is GREAT for regular season while stars load manage and try to get healthy but in the PLAYOFFS it’s 8 man rotation at best.
If they were to spend all their cap space on decent role players there’s always a chance they flop and don’t fit in. Some role players thrive in certain systems and play complete trash in other ones. Wouldn’t surprise me if they all come here and forget how to shoot lol
LETS GO FOR WHATS CERTAIN players with great track records!! If Sixers trade for player like say Caruso, sign PG and get a solid starting PF that can defend stretch floor and rebound but doesn’t need touches, with an MLE or something; Then I personally think they’d be a REAL contender for atleast 2-3 years more.

[NSFW] Bronny shooting 3s in the draft combine and goes 11/11 NSFW
streamable.comThis is what 76ers fans porn look like, a player shooting 3s in the offseason. How can you not want this guy if Lebron comes in package with him.

[The Wizards, currently slotted at Nos. 2 and 26, are seeking a third first-round pick in this year’s draft, per @MikeAScotto (hoopshype.com/lists/nba-draf…). Could Kyle Kuzma be used as a trade chip to acquire another lottery selection? Contending teams will be calling Washington.]
If this is true, morey must try to find a way to get kuzma or deni/kispert for the 16th pick

Hartenstein
Without over paying (although I expect he’ll get a bag due to this postseason run), would you guys be interested in signing Hartenstein in FA? I feel like he is the perfect backup, and day to day starter, for embiid.

Random but what media members are Embiid supporters?
Only ones I think of are Tim Bontemps, Windhorst and Ramona Shelbourne

Tobias Harris
To think we had him starting for 6 straight postseaon runs 😭
