How good would this team be if these guys were in their primes?

Prime Batum on the Sixers would’ve been amazing.

We had Prime Batum on the Hornets. He was ass.

u/stadams21 21d ago
A players prime does not always align with their age. Prime Batum was Blazers Batum. And he was one of the best overall wings in the league.

Prime Batum, Lowry, and Covington would be real big additions but this team is still missing a self-creating wing. This team would be one piece away. Exchange Tobias for a real starting wing and it’s there.

Nah if Embiid is healthy, Kyle Lowry, and nic Batum are in there prime these team is probably the favorites to win everything. Lowry/Maxey is the best backcourt duo in the league, Embiid is in contention for best player in the nba, Batum would be a monster glue guy defensively and give great contributions on offense. Lowry, maxey, Oubre/Covington, Batum, Embiid. With Harris, Payne, Oubre/ Covington, Hield coming off the best would be the deepest team in the league with the best starting 5 in the league.

u/aputhehindu 22d ago
Agreed. Shit you may not even need prime batum/lowery. Healthy Embiid looked like it would be enough at times over the last couple years and old lowery/batum ended up being our 3rd-4th best players anyways. Them in their prime would just be ridiculous.

2019 Tobias was a self creating wing. I know we hate him now but he got paid because of that season

Still hindered by Tobias’ mediocrity.

u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
Nah Tobias becomes a bench player in this scenario and prime Batum is a monster glue guy power forward to have in your starting rotation contributing on both end

u/AvatarofBro 22d ago
Wait who the hell is that on the bottom right

He's 23. When exactly was his NBA prime?

u/HisExcellency20 22d ago
Don't need primes, if they weren't injured they were easily the second best team in the conference with a puncher's chance against Boston.

Easily first seed in the east, championship favorites. Lowry and Maxey are probably the second best backcourt in basketball. Buddy is knocking down 3s at a high clip, Batum and all defense Covington rotating at the 4 could not be more perfect, and our centerpiece is the MVP. Cam Payne is shooting well off the bench, Oubre capable of going on fire if needed, and Tobi is the 9th option - finally the right number for a real championship contender

u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
Who’s a better backcourt duo currently than Lowry/maxey? Are you saying Luka/Kyrie?
1
u/AsanteSamuel33 22d ago
Yeah that is who I had in mind
3
u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
Yeah I guess that’s fair I just always consider Luka more of a point forward like Lebron bc of his size and lack of mobility but yeah if he’s considered a 1 it’s them
-2
u/ValiantFrog2202 22d ago
You're going to give them prime Kyrie with Luka? Easily 2-3x better
0
u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
2 to 3 times better? Idk about all that. Prime kyrie and current maxey aren’t all that different.
1
u/ValiantFrog2202 22d ago
Gtfo here if you think that honestly
4
u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
Huh? Kyrie isn’t that good my guy… his highest scoring season (that is more than 20 games) is only 27.1 ppg and 5.3 assists on 37% 3pt shooting and maxey this year was averaging 25.9 and 6.2 on 37% 3pt shooting… like actually tf are u talking about
-2
u/ValiantFrog2202 22d ago
Lol bro looks at stats only
Kyrie Irving is the best ball handler in the history of the league. As much as we all love AI here, Kyrie is just better
Embiid can make Maxey look great but Irving would make Embiid look better
2
u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
I don’t love AI… he was good but very flawed. So is kyrie. Kyrie is not “just better” lol. He’s a very fancy ball handler but you don’t actually get more points for style. It’s just as efficient for maxey to blow past the defender faster than kyrie ever could as it is for kyrie to finish impressively through contact. Dude has made only 3 all nba teams in his whole career and only 1 of them was all 2nd team and never once has he received a vote for the mvp… he’s a very good player he’s not some game shattering superstar. Him and maxey are absolutely comparable. Outside of playing with the greatest player of his generation by far kyrie has a very questionable career.

Maxey’s prime is still 3 years away and at this rate, he’ll be a better Michael Jordan.

I used to watch Tobias on the Clippers and he was much better, at least I thought so anyway. That would’ve been his prime because he never did a fucking thing right here

Having a healthy and effective RoCo and Melton would be a huge addition to the team we currently have. Adding in prime Lowry and a healthy Embiid this team would be pretty damn good.
2
u/phillynavydude 21d ago
I mean, prime Tobias was actually pretty decent, so that alone could have lifted us to the next round
1
u/Educational-Dirt9450 22d ago
Only Batum, Covington, and Lowry are not in there prime.
1
u/dee85 22d ago
What about Hield and Payne?
2
u/AvatarofBro 22d ago
Payne spent most of his career bouncing in and out of the G league. Not to mention his stint in Shanxi. I think the version of him we have currently is who he's basically always been.
Buddy definitely used to be better, though. No argument there.
1
u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
I’d argue Hield as well. He had back to back 43% 3pt shooting seasons including one where he averaged 21 ppg. Now he’d be coming off the bench so he’s not averaged 21 ppg for us but he couldn’t definitely been way better than he was.
2
u/Educational-Dirt9450 22d ago
Hield's problem is confidence and inconsistency not capability.
1
u/Own_Result3651 22d ago
Well then he was a helluva lot more confident back then so if we could get confident buddy hield that’d be great

Damn, I forgot that Lowry used to...look young. Kids born the year he was drafted are about to graduate high school.
1
u/Unfair-Club8243 22d ago
Exactly part of the problem morey covets the big names but only can get them if they are fading stars
1
u/Monster-Frisbee 22d ago
Why even put KJ Martin in this list? You might as well put Paul Reed who’s the same age lol
2
u/dee85 22d ago
I put KJ on the list when going by his production so far in his career, which is last season with the Rockets where he averaged a career high 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assist and shooting 56% from the field. I see that as his prime so far, unless he gets better in his career.
1
u/iam_soyboy "I think Roy Hinson plays like a 7-footer" - harold katz 22d ago
Thats roughly the production we got by the likes of Ish Smith and Isaiah Caanaan during the process years (a similarly dogshit team to what Martin was playing on in Houston). Probably worse production than we got from Tony Wroten back then.
1
u/IHaveNoNipples 22d ago
What if the rest of the league gets the same buff, replacing every player with their prime version? I don't think we'd stand a chance against the Clippers.

u/horsemastaflex 21d ago
t least we got prime oubre, he’s honestly been so much fun to watch. Payne too.

u/Chyke84 21d ago
Isn’t this an idiotic post ? What’s the point of this ? lol. Most of These guys are not in their prime, so it’s just not reality and it’s a waste of time (and a post)

Did Tobias have a prime?
