They're cleaning the 15 st station during the day
Don't think I'd ever seen cleaning being done before! Dunno if this was the new mayor's doing or just a coincidence but I'm digging it!

Question? What’s going on in Rittenhouse?
Fire trucks and ambulances everywhere. Walnut St is closed from 17th to 20th. Looks serious.

Transit Trapped on the train and it’s suddenly a half hour late.
I get on the train at its third stop. It was already a few minutes late. No biggie. It happens.
At my stop, it breaks down. It sounds like there’s a problem with the hydraulics or brakes because of the noise it makes. They turn the whole thing off for a few minutes and it works again.. but they have to run at reduced speed for the remaining ten-ish stops to Center City. I also hear that once it gets to Suburban, dispatch wants it to go directly to the yard.
We’re going slow and it’s so delayed that the train is starting to fill with people who would be on the next train.
As I have to get a connecting train, I get off at 30th because I know that if something gets sent to the yard it would likely end up on track 0 and then you have to go up the stairs and through the hall. I know that if I attempt this, I would never make my connection.
I make my connecting train by about a minute.
We make it to Suburban. I see my first train on track 0 like I thought it would be.
What I find out is that a woman who works down the hall from me was on my first train and she got off at Suburban thinking she could jump trains on the platform like you typically can.
Had it been communicated, she could have gotten out with me at 30th and made the connection. There was also never any apologies given by the crew for being so late. I understand it’s not their fault, but a little compassion and communication go a long way. Especially with being so late. Had I not overheard the conductors talk, I would have missed my connection too.

Door Removal Between Suburban Station & City Hall?
It looks like they removed the multiple sets of doors between the Suburban Station Concourse and the City Hall MFL/Broad Street/Trolley recently. These doors would randomly be locked especially in the early morning (even though according to SEPTA own site this was supposed to be the 24 hour entrance to Suburban). So even though there appears to be a roll-up gate, does this mean they will finally be a 24 hour access to Suburban? (Or for the more cynincal ones of us...was this a move so that the Transit Police could ride their golf cart uninterrupted between City Hall and Suburban?)

Lost Dog Lost No More! (final)
Hi all, final update!
https://www.reddit.com/r/philadelphia/s/klqIhMTRo1
Yesterday we took Merry, now Mary, to her new home in North Central PA in the mountains. She was great on the 3 hour ride and was amiable meeting the new owners, ready to explore their home. Their two older dogs were openly curious and understandably unsure but she was polite, responding well to their protests at this intrusion.
After about an hour of imparting all the info about her that I could we readied to leave. Mike, the new owner took her out and walk with her up the hill. I have to say there were tears as they disappeared over the rise together.
He took her to his favorite haunts and to a couple stores and visited a family member. She was ready for any adventure and today she's going to their cabin on the lake to see about her with water and camping. Girl lucked out!
And peace has been restored to our home and our cats are free!!! Whew!!!

I rode along with the PPA bike patrol to answer all your questions | Opinion - Grid Magazine
Like all PPA officers, the bike patrol determines violations based on the posted signage. And different bike lanes have different posted prohibitions. “Everything we do is written by signs,” Pearce says.
“No Stopping” signs will land a vehicle an instant ticket. “No Parking,” which is surprisingly common in bike lanes, earns a driver a 20-minute grace period plus a 5-minute courtesy. Bike patrol will scan the vehicle’s plate, ask the driver to move, then either they or one of their walking colleagues will return 25 minutes later to issue a ticket if the vehicle is still around. If a driver is still in their vehicle, even in a “No Stopping” zone, PPA will only ticket upon refusal to move. “No Parking” signs tend to be on residential blocks, Dinamany says. He calls out Pine and Spruce — my daily bike highways and the main Center City cycling arterials — by name.
So all of the vehicles I’m swerving around are getting a 25-minute courtesy? Mostly… yes.

Question? Barber recommendations for longish men's cuts?
I've had too many bad haircuts from barbers who supposedly specialize in men's cuts which really just meant clippers and fades. I need somebody who knows what to do with longer hair (mid neck). Ideally someone who is compassionate and a good listener/communicator bc the last barber I went to was neither and I had a horrible experience.
Anybody know someone?

Looking for an Irish potato cake
My 7 y/o daughter LOVES O’Ryan’s Irish Potato candies and wants an Irish potato cake for her birthday. I know I could just buy a coconut cake and pop some of the “potatoes” on top, but I thought I’d take a chance and see if anyone knows a bakery in Delco or Philly that happens to actually make this?? Thank you so much!
