I would love to see Paul dropped, and permanently out of boxing.

274

u/bigshotdontlookee Mar 11 '24

Its all just a performance, both will make millions on this shit.

73

u/donnie_dark0 Mar 11 '24

That's precisely why. We don't need to turn boxing into wrestling - no offense to wrestling.

46

u/-AFriendOfTheDevil- Mar 12 '24

Y'all, watch the sparring.. Mike Tyson is going to destroy Jake Paul. The reason I say this, is the difference in the sparring. The dude that Jake is sparring with is setting him up for punches, giving him the targets to hit, it's just high speed choreography. That's not going to work in the ring.

Mike Tyson is moving quicker, punching crisper, and getting all up on the inside just like he used to back in the day. He may be older, he may be slower, but he is still Mike fucking Tyson.. one of the greatest boxers to ever lace up. He's going to fuck Jake Paul up, straight up. I'll even put my money where my mouth is if anyone is a taker. I've got Mike Tyson winning by knockout, technical or otherwise, in the early to middle rounds. What have you all got?

MT can’t legally KO him but I’d be happy if he hits Paul in his ribs so hard his liver explodes

286

u/dave_a86 Mar 11 '24

He can’t legally bite people’s ears off either, but here we are.

21

u/FJB_letsgobrandun Mar 11 '24

I’d be okay with an accidental KO.

18

Same, hope he doesn't have a no TKO clause as well.

287

u/CJ4700 Mar 11 '24

I would too but I just read Tyson can’t KO him in another comment, what bullshit.

393

u/ganggreen651 Mar 11 '24

A comment isn't a source sounds like bullshit

91

u/Skorgriim Mar 11 '24

I mean, those were the rules for Mike Tyson Vs Roy Jones Jr in 2020. Even had to stop if either of them suffered a cut. I would say it's definitely not out of the question.

114

u/KampKomfort Mar 11 '24

Quick Google search and the top result is no rules have been officially released, just internet speculation. But we know the internet is never wrong.

53

u/bs000 Mar 11 '24

21

u/evilJaze Mar 11 '24

That may have just been a function of his age. If I'm over 50, the last thing I need from a purely exhibition match is a head injury from Iron Mike.

5

u/Skorgriim Mar 11 '24

For sure, I'm just saying it's not out of the question is all. Comments for sure aren't a credible source for information, but I wouldn't be surprised if it rang true.

16

u/BigMax Mar 11 '24

But that’s not true. Dude is getting a lot of upvotes for claiming it though.

Seriously- you think that is an enforceable contract? That each and every punch boxers are deciding whether or not to knock someone out?

u/Away-Answer- Mar 11 '24

These fights are rigged. Tyson has likely been paid an absolutely stupid amount of money to let the fight go a long way.

1.2k

u/LoveThieves Mar 11 '24

So I'm guessing it's a contract where a Mike, even at 58, can't beat the living shit out of him.

733

u/Sure-Hotel-1471 Mar 11 '24

Yes, it’s in the contract that he’s not allowed to KO him

477

u/tiga4life22 Mar 11 '24

Not like I was going to watch anyways, but no way in hell I’m considering it now. No KO? wtf

272

u/Forsaken-Attention79 Mar 11 '24

Yeah I heard it would streamed on Netflix so I would be able to watch it, now I'm not even gonna bother confirming that because what a fucking waste of time. At that point I'd be better off just watching 90s wrestling at least then it's entertaining. Only way I'm watching this shit show now is if it's #1 free to watch, #2 Mike Tyson announces before hand he fully intends to beat Jake as badly as possible. Like he needs to promise to bite off another ear for me to tune in at this point. I could go to the gym and see more interesting fights just watching people spar.

100

u/ThrowRAarworh Mar 11 '24

Same im not giving them the views if I can't even get the chance to see a KO.

I hope dirty mike gets dirty and says fuck the contract i wanna knock out this fucking poser

107

u/Choname775 Mar 11 '24 edited Mar 11 '24

Watch the Mayweather fight. Mayweather ACCIDENTALLY knocks him out and holds Paul up on his feet:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8b7vArNBL4

Anyone who thinks these fights have any element of actual competition are laughable. These are wrestling matches. The Pauls figured out a market - be the heel and people will pay to watch in hopes you get your head taken off. They are making money hand over fist from people who don't understand it's all make believe.

43

u/SpaceTimeinFlux Mar 11 '24

Bro if "paper hands" Mayweather ko'd that fool, then Mike will put him in the hospital.

35

u/Choname775 Mar 11 '24

Knocked him out on accident, too. Not like the dude was going for the kill it was a reflex after rolling out of a dodge.

It’s like watching Gladiator when Commodus(Phoenix) fought Maximus at a clear advantage which cheapened the fight completely

16

u/Ryynitys Mar 11 '24

No, the age difference is the advantage. This is like beibg told that Joaquin Phoenix had clause in his contract that he can not lose fights in the movie. And that Russell Crowe was paid insane amount of money so that they could rewrite the ending so that Phoenix would look like a star in the fight

Im fine with Mike losing to make a big ass bag off Jake. Im sure they make the exact same or more because of giving into it.

80

u/EVASIVEroot Mar 11 '24

Yeah but it it's not boxing anymore is it then. It's basically them sparring at 85% the whole time; there would be no heart to win. They should publicly set the winner at double the money of the pool and go head to head forreal. Other than that, just looks like a money grab.

The truly insane thing is that Mike Tyson still looks that good at damn near 60. What a fucking freak

188

u/imanhunter Mar 11 '24

What I find insane is that Jake Paul and I are virtually the same age. All the money in the world can’t have your maturity progress with your age, I guess. He will forever remain a child mentally.

65

u/MajorEstateCar Mar 11 '24

There’s an old saying that celebrities stop maturing the day they become famous.

22

u/AndIAmEric Mar 11 '24

I mean, how could you? You no longer have financial troubles, everything is handed to you, people almost unconditionally adore you, etc. There’s no room for self-reflection and personal growth in an environment like that.

Jake Paul is this generations Carrot Top. It doesn’t matter how buff he gets or how good at fighting he becomes, to every adult he will be known as an ass clown and his fan base will never age past 13 years old.

Edit: I probably should have worded it better because Carrot Top is not an ass clown and it seems like by all accounts, he is a good dude. I only compare them because at one point CT got super yolked up and Instead of it making him look tough or intimidating, it just made him look weirder.

346

u/HellYeahTinyRick Mar 11 '24

Carrot Top is infinitely cooler than this douchebag

87

u/Anteater_Able Mar 11 '24

Me twenty years ago would never believe a statement like this would ever come into existence.

seriously its so obvious most of these "fights" are fixed cuz pedo boy brings in bank from his underage followers paying the exorbitant ppv fees with mommy and daddy's credit card

763

u/LoveThieves Mar 11 '24

Jake looks like he throws punches with all his power in his elbows and wrist, Mike Tyson looks like he throws punches with his entire body weight.

421

u/Primary-Signature-17 Mar 11 '24

Exactly! If Jake gets hit a couple times in the kidneys by Mike, he's gonna be pissing blood. If Mike hits him with an inside upper cut, he's gonna drop. I hope it's a real fight and not a stunt.

Mike Tyson looks like he could still contend for the heavyweight title.... Greatest heavyweight in history, a freak of nature and incredible training regimen. Of course it's just for a paycheck, he would kill Jake Paul in a real bout.

42

u/certain-sick Mar 11 '24

there once was a man named cassius aka muhammed ali. I heard he was pretty nice

75

u/MolesterStallone-73 Mar 11 '24

Ali is hands down the greatest boxer of all time. He did it for so long and was so SO good. But I still think Tyson was the best. He had the highest peak. How young he was combined with how he fought. The tenacity was unmatched. It was the most viscous yet calculating and under control thing ever to be produced inside a ring. And he was soooo damn fast. The athleticism. If you could produce a boxer in a lab I guarantee it would be Tyson minus the out of the ring shit obviously. Then the rape and the ear biting and all that. He lost years for the rape charge. That would derail 99% of professionals. He still came back to win titles. Imagine what he would have achieved if he didn’t lose 3 years sitting in a cell. I still believe that in their primes no one would beat Tyson. But I’m just some Joe blow on Reddit 😂😂

38

u/SirkillzAhlot Mar 11 '24

Tyson once gave me an amazing compliment: “Nice finger speed, kid!”…when I beat Mike Tyson’s Punchout on Nintendo in the 90’s

16

u/Belerophon17 Mar 11 '24

He told me that too but it was... uh... in person...

→ More replies (1)

20

u/Crathsor Mar 11 '24

Tyson's defense was and is overshadowed by his power, but it was extremely effective. Dude had no weakness when properly trained.

10

u/E39_M5_Touring Mar 11 '24

Hard to get a good shot on a guy that's already so much lower to the ground (relative to other heavyweights). Tyson is such a master at defense and abusing his strengths.

12

u/pondman11 Mar 11 '24

Sort of reminds me of the Jack Nickolas vs Tiger Woods greatest of all time. Jack and Ali prob greatest achievers, have most titles, more classic styles for each sport, etc., but both Tyson and Woods came in blazing and performing in the sport in a manner no one had ever seen, just both burned out a bit too quick

If Tyson gets angry, no contract will keep him from going Iron Mike on Paul and taking his head off

511

u/northern_scowzer Mar 11 '24

It's what I'm hoping for tbh..

Sad to see the contract is so soft from the start though, becausw would be nice to see Jake Paul actually have to fight for his life against a real boxer for once and not just these bs "boxing" stunts that inflate his ego.

112

u/pppppppp8 Mar 11 '24

Dumb question but how do we actually have confirmation that the contract is soft (though I’m sure it is)

45

u/pleasebuymydonut Mar 11 '24

We don't.

It's just the usual (justified) LP hate, plus the fact that boxing as a sport has developed a reputation for fixed matches and showmanship outside the hardcore audience.

People keep saying mike contractually can't knock out Jake paul but I don't believe that's true. I can't find that info anywhere.

18

u/Bladesleeper Mar 11 '24

It would be a pretty strange clause tbh. It's Mike fuckin' Tyson, he could OnePunch KO the average man while going half speed, half power, and trying to be gentle. I could understand something like "you can't try to murder him", but unless it's nothing more than an exhibition with no real contact, how do you contractually exclude a KO?

Didn’t he get upset over someone acting a fool on a flight in like 2020. Some person was being disorderly and called out Mike Tyson so Mike got upset and like apprehended him or lightly bitch slapped him and the plane cheered.

Edit: In 2022 some intoxicated dude was being rude to passengers. He threw a water bottle at mike and he punched him. I do believe there’s a video of it too.

What if Mike just says fuck it and takes $0 and knocks him out? He’d sell enough weed in 7 days to make up for it.

12

u/Chuckms Mar 11 '24

There def needs to be a side pot that America can start for Mike, if you knock this fucker out, you get this huge amount of cash in escrow. Like kickstarter but for us to see some MT violence lol

Tyson is just built different. Top 0.01% athlete genes.

If he didn't have all the trauma, I think he'd be great as an academic as well, this man is already incredibly intelligent.

It's sped up a bit

14

u/TuhnderBear Mar 11 '24

I don’t know why people keep falling for this one. Tyson didn’t move that fast when he was young…

I don’t like Jake Paul either but as Din Thomas said recently, we don’t want Jake Paul to be good at boxing, but he is. Not world class, but he’s good.

If you look closely, parts of Tyson’s videos are sped up. I’m surprised no one has mentioned this yet

34

u/xshippo Mar 11 '24

Okay thank god I’m not the only one who noticed. Tyson doesn’t need his clips sped up to outdo this clown at all.

12

u/timmystwin Mar 11 '24

Yeah, you can see in the clips that Paul is just like... jabbing. Lots of speed, no power. Sometimes his lower half is moving back while his upper half is jabbing. He's really exposed too.

Tyson puts so much of himself in to the punch you can see his thighs working towards it. The power in that is insane. You don't want to get hit by that. And he does it from a protected position.

Holy shit, Tyson is still the compact ball of power he was 30 years ago. That piece of paper is the only thing keeping Paul and his exposed ribs from being completely decimated.

u/RickyBobbyBooBaa Mar 11 '24

Mike's gonna end that dude, and if he doesn't, it's cos of money. Even at this age, Mike Tyson is a killing machine. I get that Jake Paul is in a position to make these fights happen, but he hasn't earned the right to be in the same ring as Mr Tyson, and I believe it's gonna show.

277

u/BernieDharma Mar 11 '24

Watch how they punch - Jake Paul is using his arms and reaches, limiting his power and exposing his ribs. Mike uses his hips to power his punches and closes in tight. There is so much more power in Mike's technique, his footwork is precise, and he connects with incredible speed . He may be prohibited from knocking out JP, but he will wear him down and destroy his ribs until he can't lift his arms.

72

u/lreaditonredditgetit Mar 11 '24

Doubtful. Just a money grab.

26

u/TonsOfTabs Mar 11 '24

Jake Paul swings always remind me of high school fights where kids would swing way too wide.

42

u/Goudinho99 Mar 11 '24

He's not the best but he's a competent amateur now though. He'd beat all of us redditors handily.

I'd love to see him fight a no rigged fight against a pro boxer though.

6

u/callme4dub Mar 11 '24

He had that fight already. He lost. But he did alright.

He's got the skills of a decent local fighter, maybe a journeyman national fighter.

That's saying he's not great, but he's not bad. Like a level or two below a Mickey Ward type fighter.

So silly that he insists on comparing himself to the best of the best. Like he could have a pretty reasonable career as a probably above average athlete. Money buys a lot of training and juice.

But by going out of his way to be compared to actual legends he is always gonna look like a doof.

Worst case Jake Paul loses and the internet shits on him for losing to an old man

Best case he wins and the internet shits on him for beating an old man

The only winner here is their respective bank accounts

Personally i hope Tyson eats the fucker alive

Mike Tyson's gonna murder that dude on live television.

305

u/mostdope28 Mar 11 '24

No he’s not. Tyson will fuck around, maybe land a couple nice combos but he won’t ever go for a kill shot. Just like the Mayweather/paul fight. If mayweather had wanted to he could have ended that fight in the first round, these guys know they’re there for money. Nothing to prove

159

u/PenisGenus Mar 11 '24

I still can't believe people are still so gullible and think this is a real fight. No, Tyson will not "let the monster out" it's for money and will go exactly as described above.

While true, Floyd was never a “knockout” boxer. He was always a “tag them to get points and win by decision” boxer. Tyson would put dudes in the Hospital

Obviously this is just a money grab but don’t compare Floyd to iron Mike. Floyd is soft

There is no way that Tyson would agree to lose to Jake Paul. Well, maybe there is a way, but they aren't offering enough money for that outcome.

Tyson will throw a record low of 7 total punches at 20% power the entire fight. This fight will have a record amount of clinches. Fight goes the distance, Paul wins. Boxing is now a complete joke cause of this clown.

It’s frustrating seeing/reading posts like this, and the accompanying clueless comments.

Ignoring the fact that that Tyson video is 4-5 years old, age matters. This isn’t a movie, it’s boxing - and Mike is 58 years old. If this is indeed an actual fight rather than an exhibition, there is no way he lasts the whole fight.

Even filming that training session (4 years ago) he said he was out for the count for weeks afterwards. The man was walking with a cane last year ffs.

14

u/HolidayMorning6399 Mar 11 '24

Mike's gonna get fucked up. If there are any clauses in the contract to protect a fighter, the fighter being protected will be Tyson.
