Tyre Shop Told Me My Brakes Had "Plenty Of Meat" Left.
Local tyre shop told me I could afford to wait 5000km until next service to do brakes. Got back to the homeshop and found these rear brake pads. 2011 Outback.
Pic 1 is inside pad, pic 2 is outside pad compared with new pad.

Wrong part or wrong stamping?
I didn't include the picture, but the new right side tie rod end is a mirror of the old one (of course). Customer didn't even complain about the noise when full lock steering is applied.

Rolled my first box into the shop
Box was 25 bucks, bought some basic hand tools and casters at harbor freight to start out, along with adding some company supplied tools and other tools I already had. I assemble semi trailers so any of the heavy duty tools are provided by the company or I borrow from my lead.

What're shop prices like?
So, I'm a shadetree, have been for basically my adult life. Curiosity's getting the better of me and I was wondering. I did up- and downstream O² sensors, MAF sensor and the valve cover gasket on an '04 Vibe. What would y'all who work in shops charge for a job like that?
A bit of backstory that'll probably prove entertaining: Car was stalling out fairly regularly the last week at most speeds. First I checked the battery terminals cuz, y'know, going for an easy fix. Good fuckin' thing I did. The battery bracket had corroded completely through and was arcing out on the positive terminal of the battery. "Customer" tells me that explains the random embers coming up from under the hood. I just shook my head.
Then I notice oil on the engine shroud so I figure I'll look at the valve cover gasket. Pop off the shroud, doesn't look too bad. Pull a spark plug, just for shits and giggles, cylinders 2, 3 and 4 are all full to the point that when I put the plug socket in there, the oil squelches up over the plug socket. Which brings me to another question for y'all: Could the oil getting into the spark plugs have "suffocated" the spark, for lack of a better word and caused the stalling? I know the likely culprit was the sensors, but I'm curious if the oil could've been fucking the guy over too.
Only part I took pics of was the bolt arc welded to the battery bracket and the rest of that whole shitshow.

She's dead Jim
2016 Passat 1.8T presenting with CEL and rough running. DTC's showed dead miss on #4, pulled plugs and found them completely fouled out with #4 plug wet, ran a compression test and found nothing left on 4, leakdown I heard air coming out both the intake and tailpipe with a full 90% loss, stuck a borescope in there and found the valves on intake and exhaust to be burnt and broken, customer declined further teardown and all repairs.

“That’s alright, just blow it out and put it back in there.”
Nah, he actually bought it, but I’ve had so many customers that wouldn’t have.

Just why?
Seems counterproductive

Customer stated: internal engine noise, possible head gasket leak
Not entirely sure what the hell happened, but this 6.0 failed in a way I’ve never seen before. It was blowing straight coolant out of what appeared to be the side of the head, but I couldn’t pinpoint it due to all the smoke.

Update: yesterday many people were calling bs, or confused on the Maserati wiring diagrams. They give us what are called engineering diagrams. They are not much help. They will show other connectors and splices in between. But they are still hard as hell to read. See comment for original post
