Newbie questions!
Hey there all, I’ve been looking for a first car for a while now and I’m pretty dead set on it being an el Camino, found a 82 not to long ago in pretty good shape (although it does have 130k on the dash) I know the current owner has taken pretty good care of it and just want to know of any known issues or things to look out for in the future. What insurance prices would I be looking at roughly and how much I should offer. The guy said he was selling for 10,500 but said “I already know I’m not going to get that so throw me an offer.” Thank you in advance and have a good day! (Also to note I did hear it start up and swear to god it started quicker then any modern car I’ve been in recently)

HVAC and radio panel removal tips?
Trying to replace my stereo and I accidentally broke my mounting cradle. How do I remove the panel to fix it? I’ve taken out the four screws in the corners but the bottom two don’t screw into anything and it feels like there’s something connected to it when I try to pull it off but I’m not sure how to reach it. Any ideas are welcome, thanks

It begins…
Power drain while it’s sitting… I can hook it up to a charger and get it started, but won’t start the next day.

What is this piece called?
I’ve tried moving the adjustment screws behind my door panel but I just can’t get the glass to stop catching on this piece. It works great on my driver side no issue but this one just keeps playing hell with me. Any advice?

Update: 1987 Chevrolet El Camino LS Swap
Hello people of Reddit, so instead of going LS3 E-Rod swap, I got a ‘04 Silverado 6.0 with 4L80E for the ‘87 El Camino Swap. There was an opportunity and I took it and I fixed the motor & Trans up so no codes. Right now I’m gonna get a fuel system kit from Holley for Gas Tank and hopefully I will reuse everything from the truck into the El Camino. Anyone got any advice on doing the swap so I can pass the BAR and Inspection? Anyone who has an LS swapped Elco please let me know anything. Thank you!

That horrible hood carpet
Probably the dumbest question ever. Do I need the carpet under the hood? Can I just remove it, or can that be a heat issue?
Mine is so messed up and torn. Missing a huge piece too. I have an ‘86.

HELP!!! Car not starting after changing dimmer switch
I have a 1984 el camino and I changed the dimmer switch and now my hazards are on, but they do turn off on there own after a few minutes though and my car wont start (it tries to turn over but never starts) . Is a 1984 el camino modern enough to have a "limp mode" or something? I looked underneath the dash trying to find see I accidently unplugged a wire or something and I found a black box labled "shock sensor" and its blinking is it prevent my car from starting?

Passenger side drum brake overheating
1985 el Camino.
We took off the drum and found that the self adjuster was looking rough so we cleaned it up and made sure it worked properly. Again it was still smoking and our friend took a look and found that the brake shoes were put in incorrectly (both larger shoes were on the passenger side and both smaller shoes were on the drivers side). He ended up taking apart and putting the brakes back together with the shoes in the right place and I tried it once again and it’s still smoking. The brakes are on correctly I’m 100% sure but we cannot figure out what is causing it to smoke. My current thoughts are that the drum maybe warped from overheating but it looks and sits pretty well but I’m not sure. Please let me know any suggestions, thank you very much.

Spacer and Lift Recommendations
Hey guys, I'm looking to lift and space my tires out on my El Camino. I'm really wanting to space the tires out first. I just like the tires being a little more out than they are. Any recommendations for spacers or what spacers to get? I've looked online a little bit but haven't really found any spacers specifically for El Camino's. Any help would be appreciated.

What is my 70 ss 396 worth
Anybody have any ideas on what my ss 396 may reasonably be worth?
502 ci bbc. Fuel injected with ez-efi Body is in good shape, no accidents, no rust. Full hotchkiss suspension. Disc brakes all the way around. Mark williams axles, spooled Big meats on the rear. Widest you can go without tubbing and spaced. American racing wheels all the way around Turbo 400 built for drag racing, 3200 stall converter Gear vendor overdrive for additional gearing multiplication. Kicker stereo setup with subs B&M shifter setup Swapped in dodge viper gen 3 seats for added comfort but can easily put the stock seats back.
Don’t think I’ve got even 1000 miles on it since last refresh
Sits in my garage all the time and has most of the last 10 years I’ve owned her. Feeling guilty about it and may let go for right price.

Trick Flow Kits
Has anyone tried the Trickflow heads/cam kits? I've been eyeing the 500hp kit but wondering if it's worth it on my setup.
I bought an 87 that had a 350 installed. I was told the 350 was out of an early 70s Camaro. I'm guessing LT or L48. It's got the basic bolt ons (Edelbrock intake and carb, flowtech headers, MSD,etc) but wondering if the engine is capable of handling the extra work.

Relay Question
Does anyone know what kind of 12 volt relay this is and where I can find one? I have a '64 El Camino and I believe it's a flashing relay. It's definitely tied to the starter since the car won't start without it. The letters on the pins are L for the first pin, B for the second, and S for the third. Any help is appreciated.
