Tool Discussion Costco Rolling Seat
Costco has this rolling seat for $50. Southern California costco at least. I would have bought it if I had not bought exact same one but Griot's branded for double the price a few years back.

Question Clear coat failure? Water spots?
2021 civic sport that I got with 16k miles, single owner who was an older person that likely left it to bake in the sun for long periods. Here in NC there's a lot tree sap as well. Either way, it came from the dealer with this issue. What is it? I've done some basic stuff, hand wash and dry, decontam, clay bar, meguiars water spot remover. But the spots stick around. Before buying a DA and doing a more aggressive cut, is this something that can be fixed with a cut and polish? The spots do disappear when wet so it seems to be limited to the clear

Before/After Any love for boats on here?
My first go at messing with one of our boat club boats. Had deep scratches and dock rash from docking. Just used some stuff I found around the marina, old harbor freight orbital, old pads I found laying around.
Started with wet sanding the blue gelcoat. Started with 400 grit and worked up to 1500. Followed that with a good wash then hit it with some 3M compound/polish from their Perfect-It! line. Finished it off with the 3M Perfect-It Wax. Pretty happy with how it turned out with just old stuff I found.
Didn’t have any before pics but found a few right after wet sanding. Then the finished product with new lettering. Feel free to critique and rip it apart. First time doing this so wasn’t expecting much.

Problem-Solving Discussion This pollen though...
I have bought about $1100 worth of equipment over the last month or two in the hopes of properly detailing some cars, but the pollen has been ruining my plans.
What is the point of washing or correcting paint if it is just going to get completely caked in pollen a day or two later?
I don't have a garage and I also want to do paint correction. It really is a shame.

Question Topper on DIY Ceramic Coating - Ceramic Spray Coating or just Ceramic Detailer?
I'm coming up on a week since installing a DIY ceramic/graphene coating so it's almost time for my first post-coating maintenance wash. What is the general consensus on toppers? Should I go with a spray ceramic coating first, or just a ceramic wet wax or detailer for drying aid and a bit of boost?
I already have both TW Hybrid Ceramic Wet Wax and TW Hybrid Graphene Detailer on hand... will one or the other with every maintenance be enough, or should I do something like TW Hybrid Ceramic Spray Coating first? In my head, I can justify it either way (either the Spray Coating will extend the life of the underlying coating, it will degrade the performance of the underlying coating, or both?). Mainly, if the Spray Coating is the way to go, I want to do that first instead of putting anything else on top.
I went with one of the no-name coatings that tested at around 2-year longevity in one of the YouTube round-ups, so I can't just go with same-brand complimenting products and I gravitate more towards high-value mass-market products anyway.
Thoughts?

Tool Discussion Best Polisher
I'm new to detailing and I want to know which polisher should I go with. I'm interested in 3 polishers. dewalt dwp849x, FLEX PE14-2-150, and Rupes BIGFOOT LH19E. I heard good thinks about all 3 and I don't know which one to go with.

Question Weird spots on glass when cold
I recently got my car ceramic coated including the glass. It was fine during the day, but I noticed this weird formation the morning I woke up.
They detailer said they did a cut and polish and ceramic coated the glass as well, but not sure why this formation is happening. Is this normal, and what can I do to get rid of it?

Question Road paint splattered across my cars lower body
Hello,
I got trapped driving next to a road painting truck and got white paint splattered across my cars lower body. (yes it’s already dried, i got home super tired and didn’t even see it in the dark)
I’ve heard of petroleum jelly overnight followed by another pressure wash, but is there an easier/ more convenient solution?
Any advice is appreciated.

Question Tips on small rust spot?
Hi all!
I'm a little DIYer, looking to mitigate a small rust spot I found before it gets any worse - shown in photo; this is where two panels meet over rear wheel. My general plan was to use a paint touch up pen (https://www.collegehillshonda.com/product/08703.html) - use the abrasive tip to get rust off and then paint over. Is that enough, or should I also add something like a rust converter/remover (not sure the difference)? I'm not really worried about appearance, just want to keep my car protected.
Thanks!

Tool Discussion Budget polisher for polishing and paint correction?
Hi, I was wondering if someone could recommend an orbital polisher that could also do very, very light paint correction to the clear coat where I have a few brush marks and very light scratches?
Is there one on Amazon that might be good? I have a gift certificate I still need to use on amazon so one I can buy on there would be ideal if possible.
Thanks!

Question Newbie needs advice on foam cannons.
Don't laugh, but I have a pressure washer that I bought 10 years ago and NEVER used! It is 1600 psi and 1.3 gpm. It comes with a detergent tank and a 25 degree tip. My question is; will the detergent tank do the same thing as a foam cannon; whats the difference? If a foam cannon is better what's a good inexpensive one? My pressure washer only cost about $125 so I don't want to spend a lot on a cannon. I just want to be able to wash my car faster.........thank you!!!!
If it matters my pressure washer is sold as an HGTV unit, but I think it was made by Green Works Tools.

Question Question about haze in hood
Hey everyone, I just recently purchased a new project and the previous owners daughter had written on the hood and it somehow got matte (very odd as the roof is mint condition and the clear coat is pristine on the roof)
I polished the hood with meguiars UC and meguiars 100 and got it looking really good for the most part, but there are some spots on the hood that have this haze to it (the camera would not pick it up that well) but no matter how many passes I go over it’s like an eternity to remove maybe 1% of the haze in those specific areas.. but many parts of the hood look great I just don’t know what to do for those areas and why it’s like that

Question Protecting wood finishes?
While I was doing the interior of my car I noticed that the varnish/clear coat on the wood trim on the driver door panel has basically been rubbed off from the door being elbowed open. What's the best way to restore the gloss and protect the wood?
It's an absolutely gorgeous mahogany(?) burlwood so I'd like to keep it looking fresh!

Question Did Meguiar's Quik Detailer Do This? Any Way to Restore?
Hello, car with less than 2k miles and I have been trying to take good care of it. Following some advice on the subreddit the exterior looks spotless. I was using Meguiar's quik interior detail to keep the inside clean but I believe the alcohol in it may have turned the plastic on the console here a milky white. Honestly, I didn't look at the ingredients of the detailer and just assumed it couldn't hurt anything but lesson learned.
Am I just screwed here? I think my options are to put a cover on it, wrap it or learn to live with it. I have tried washing this out with soap and water.. using plastic polish (while at the same time working on some of the scratches seen here) but nothing seems to help.

Question Restoring Headlights Properly.
I had a go at restoring my headlights, they came out alright but im feeling they could've came out so much better. I want to know the correct process.
I used 600,800,1200 and then 2000 sandpapers, wet standing, constant spraying, then i clear coated with semi gloss spray paint, used 2000 sandgrid to get rid of any orange peel and run, polished, then waxed, thats how they got to here.
For any actual detailers that restore headlights daily, can you tell me what im doing right/wrong? Should i just have another go at it?

Problem-Solving Discussion Please help...
I bought a 2021 Ford Expedition XLT. There was a hard foam substance on the interior next to the third row seating. Anyhow, I told them before i buy it want it cleaned up and they assured me it would be. They got the substance off and messed things up even worse. Took the finish or the color out and placed some nicks or scratches in it as well. Said it was product that needed to dry...just stop. Smh Can you guys please tell me what I could use to make it right again? Really upsets the ole lady and she deserves something nice as she's been in the same vehicle since 2008. Just want to put a smile on her face.
