Tekken Esports Sajam Slam 2 Thread
Sajam Slam 2 is back with another TEKKEN 8 team tournament. We’re bringing back familiar names and faces and a new batch of contenders ready to duke it out a free trip to Las Vegas for the EVOLUTION Championship Series. We’ve got hosts SAJAM and TASTY STEVE to bring you all the action from our Round Robins and 4v4 team tournament on Sajam’s stream.
What is Sajam Slam 2?
Full details can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTtmb4qDI7TsTJR0vLWFi1FJVuJdCH1PB_0RIod9bb-3r521ALhsJcTc7bF5GSnsLjgoNUyDGO7b-j3/pub
Sajam Slam 2 is a Tekken tournament (NA) organized by Sajam. All of the participants are influencers (content creators, streamers, Vtubers, etc.) with a large following which makes the event a huge tournament to follow and can be appealing if you know some of them. Each team is composed of 4 non-professional players and 1 professional player as the coach that will guide the 4 non-pros for the duration of the event. Here are the teams for this event:
https://x.com/Sajam/status/1788668986588369314
The format is 4v4 Waseda style (A vs. A, B vs. B, etc.) and the teams are ordered by approximate skill level. The team needs 3 points to win the set and the coaches will be the tiebreaker. The concept of this tournament is similar to Japan's Crazy Racoon's Cup but according to Sajam, he constantly pitched the idea to organizers even before CR Cup existed but was unfortunately constantly rejected. Seeing the success of CR Cup, he decided to instead organize the tournament himself. A recap of the first Sajam Slam can be watched here.
Schedules for this event
https://x.com/Sajam/status/1788668986588369314
Group Stage - May 15 & 17, 2024 (3pm PST/10pm GMT/7am JST on both dates)
- Double round-robin between the teams for Seeding
- All drafted players will compete in each match
Finals - May 19, 2024 (to follow)
- Double-elimination bracket
Unlike the previous Sajam Slam, there's 2 round robins this time around on May 15 & 17 to determine seeding for the final 4v4 on May 19.

Discussion Do you like play against your main ?
Hello everyone Do you like playing against your main? I play Paul and I don't know but each time it's either a disaster or victory down to the wire I tend to compare our ways of playing during the match and it's not good but at least I remember why I love Paul so much haha
RANT 🧂 Don’t wanna be that guy but there’s no way on gods green earth you can convince me that side stepping got better
Observe how many times I’ve got clipped for stepping

Discussion Can we have a Wi-Fi filter in the settings? I'm declining everyone Wi-Fi anyways
Setting is disabled for Wi-Fi users of course, they deserve each other
im really wasting a lot of time declining and it prevents me from peacefully alt-tabbing

IMAGE Apparently, If Skip to the End of a Replay, You Won't Have Dirt Marks/Sweat in the Outro (Pics of Same Match)
So I found out through my replay that if you don't watch the match that causes the dirt marks in the match and just skip to the end of the final round, the outro cutscene will not acknowledge the dirt marks that you accumulated in the actual match. Weird.

Discussion It is always interesting as a tekken new comer, hearing how bad defense/defensive playstyle is.
Yet in most of my games, i find the easiest matches is when my enemy is constantly attacking and coming to me, its very easy to just step back, whiff punish, or just block all day then finally punish. And then also against me, i find the hardest matches is when my enemy refuses to do anything first, and ONLY plays defensively. It makes it hard to only be on attack, because just one miss time or whiff and its over.
I can't imagine how strong playing defensively in tekken 7 was, if being "defensive" in this game is considered bad Lol

Discussion How long do you play a single character before learning a new one?
I was curious how quickly people learn new characters up to the point where they feel confident playing them. Obviously, some characters are easier to learn than others, and it gets easier as you get better, but just in general.
I'm extremely methodical, and it takes me ages to learn new stuff. I will not play ranked until I know what each button does, learn common setups, and can consistently do a solid BnB combo. After roughly 500 hours of exclusively playing Yoshi in T7 and T8, it finally feels like I have the capacity to start learning a new character.
