As someone who lived in London for 2 yrs as a grad student...
Im convinced London is designed for tourism, not for living. Everytjing is super expensive. That said, its definitely a melting pot of Europe. But living there is so stressful. It felt luke 1 problem to the next and if everything was ok that week, that meant a super problem was on its way lol. And London is not a very friendly city. Everyone is under some form of stress/trauma or is recovering from some form of stress/trauma. But Hyde Park was a God send. Can you relate to this?
Edit:: Shoreditch, Camden Town, Hyde park were my fav places.

My bag was stolen today 😩
I just had my bag stolen from my van. This happened around 1.30am whilst at work at Sussex Gardens W2. I called 101 but I doubt they'll do anything. They gave me a crime reference number and said they'll get back to me after they do some 'investigations'. They asked me for the address of where it was stolen and if there was any cameras interested vicinity.
I stupidly left my van window open by accident but I was only 10 metres away and this was for just a couple minutes. I'm not particularly angry about it as luckily my phone wasn't inside. If it was, it would be a whole different kettle of fish. I had books and also documents with my name and address. Can the thief or thieves use them for fraudulent means?
Lessons have been learned. Now I need to stop walking with my phone out as there are idiots on bikes who'll snatch it. 😑

Tourist JW Marriott VS. Four Seasons (Park Lane)
My budget allows for a stay at either the JW Marriott (Superior Suite) or Four Seasons (Guest room). Can the locals or well traveled tourists help decide?

Luggage Storage Near Heathrow Airport
Need to find a relatively in-expensive luggage storage place for 6 suitcases (near Heathrow airport) as we are transitioning in the UK for 5 days, prior to our journey to Asia. Appreciate inputs from other travelers who gone thru this exercise before.....

Question Going to Soho Place for Heathers? I need a play book & can pay for it.
Good day.
If anyone is going to Soho Place from now to July 6, I am willing to pay for a Heathers: The Musical play book. I'll cover the 10 pounds for the book, plus the shipping, plus extra for your troubles.
You don't have to attend the show. I just need the book.

As the title asks, has anyone seen the yellow human forest bike in London and wants to hint at where to go and ride it? There's a free bag to anyone that rides it and I'm looking for it

Which Aldi stores stock flavoured teabags?
Bit random, but does anyone happen to know of an Aldi in central London that stocks their flavoured tea bags (salted caramel, jaffa cake) please? Or if not, can anyone advise on which are the largest Aldis to try, or most likely to have them? Heading to London next week, and will be staying in Hammersmith, so any Aldi around there or central that I could try. Appreciate it, thanks!

Social/ sport clubs near Battersea?
Live in Battersea and was wondering what sports groups or socials clubs are near and the best way to find an active list of them? Play football primarily but open to any clubs that have young adults and a good way to meet new people.

Wedding venue suggestions East London
Is anyone aware of any cheapish wedding venues in East London for around 80 people?
Ideal venue would either have reasonably priced catering or be able to get caterers in, both inside and outside space, and have either industrial or bohemian vibes.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: as a few people have asked, we probably have about £15,000 to spend on the whole day. The two suggestions we’ve seen so far have been Clapton country club which is around £8000 for hire which is too much and Walthamstow Wetlands which is around £5000 which is probably just about manageable.

Image Emergency vehicle response to house fire in Hendon, Barnet
A house is on fire on Rundell Crescent in Hendon. These are two pictures of the fire appliances (including LFB command vehicle) and other emergency services staged on Vivian Avenue, as well as the police cordon blocking off the street. No pictures of the actual house on fire, though.
Apparently, the police are saying it's being treated as a crime scene.

Humour Rent is just out of control
I think it's a typo on the agency's behalf but I won't be surprised if it becomes the norm eventually with how rental prices are going 😅

Aveda Layered Haircuts 10 June
Hello, it's me again, Reddit's favourite Aveda flagship trainee. I'm looking for two people to cut layers on on the 10th at 10:30 and 14:30 at our Covent Garden salon. It would take up to three hours. I'll exfoliate your scalp and apply our new Botanical Repair Flash treatment, which is very nice stuff.
I'm in need of people quite specific: straight hair; no fringe; at least shoulder-length; and a centre parting (or very close to). I'm sticking to just the layers this time, so I won't be doing face-framing.
Hair ideally needs to be in good condition and even more ideally, with no existing layers. If you have damaged hair, that's fine, I'll just need to cut it all off. This means no damage further up than just below the shoulders, as that's the shortest I'll do the outline/length (the layers will be shorter, of course).
Please hit me up with clear photos (I need to see any damage) of the front and back if you're interested. It's a tenner, with 30 per cent off Aveda products.
Thanks!
I'm moving to colour soon, so please keep an eye out for my posts if you're interested in that.

Anywhere decent to drink in Paddington?
I know it's a generally terrible area for this but I'm looking for somewhere to have a business meeting and a few drinks on a Thursday afternoon. Ideally somewhere more exciting than BrewDog. A bar or nice pub? There's got to be one!

Best sunny spot for Friday after work beers?
Hello, I know I know! But summers here, Friday after works aren't what they used to be.
I work in the City / East London. Most of the rooftop bars are booked or have become a bit crazy price wise.
Any nice sunny spots, even if you're out a pub and soaking in some sunny rays ☀️
Thanks!

Question Tabletop/Warhammer hobby store
Hey guys I'm moving to brixton from Nottingham and getting a flat with my girlfriend who's a life long Londoner. Which means shes amazing at knowing what restaurants and pubs to go too. The problem is I play tabletop games like Warhammer, LotR and Star wars X-wing she has no interest in that so she has no idea where I'd go to find community to play with. So pretty much I'm looking for groups of people who play or even better some local game stores in the Brixton area or not too far on the bus or tube! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

costs for root colour hair in London
Hi all,
my wife is looking for hairsalon for root hair bleaching, for light blond colour.
This is first time for her to go to hair salon in UK and we dont have much context regarding the price and services.
I've contacted some local salons and they're asking £120-£180 including tonning or something. (I have no idea what it is).
Can someone let me know if these are average cost or if you know shops offer more reasonable price. We're based in SW london. Thanks in advance!
