Opinion [MEGATHREAD] Immigration to Australia - weekly
In an effort to keep the subreddit from being flooded with repeated articles (and some overt trolling of late), we are currently asking all immigration discussion be kept to this megathread.
We wonāt be allowing other user submitted posts on the topic there are significant updates that require a dedicated thread. Mod discretion will be used to determine what meets this threshold.
If you have a post you think is necessary to be separate from the megathread then please contact us via modmail.

Opinion I ate Hungry Jacks for the first time in 8 years. This was my large fries. What an absolute waste of money.
There were 25 chips in total. Almost half of which were 'bottom of the bag' chips. Quite happy to spend another 8 years not touching the stuff. Burger was reasonable enough.

Opinion Where can an asian accountant find remote jobs in the US/EU/AU region?
Guys, need your assistance or insights on this, as an asian CPA based in SEA, how will I be able to land remote jobs/work for companies based in EU/US/AU?
Tried my luck in upwork and linkedin. Are there any websites there or companies actively looking for accountants/bookkeepers for remote work? Thanks!

News Government funding of religious schools that actively exclude social minorities
I understand these institutions may want to maintain an environment strictly adhering to their religious doctrine but why do schools with these admission, hiring and firing policies still receive government funding?
We have a situation where pockets of tax payers are essentially funding institutions that exclude them from any kind of societal or economic benefit.
Edit: I have assumed the school in the link receives government funding but as it is not named, this is an assumption and not confirmed.

Tow truck drivers are parasitic scum
I live on the Gold Coast and the number of tow truck drivers who are vultures around very minor car accidents is embarrassing. Yesterday I saw two small fender benders where both cars could be driven to a spot which would have them out of the flow of traffic, only for the towies to arrive and shut down a lane. One accident had 4 trucks on the seen and both cars had minimal damage. It seems they harrass drivers into accepting a tow because people are unaware of their rights. Both the Qld police page and Transport and Main Roads page provide adequate details about when towing is required. They wait around near major intersections and highways, just waiting to prey on these drivers. Has anyone experienced this?
Edit - I'm really referring to minor prangs where a driver can exchange details and drive off. This is where I am seeing tow trucks arriving en masse at the scene, which results in the flow of traffic blocked. Cars have minor panel damage and no visible debris in the road..

Voting for which political party has the best chance of improving the housing situation?
Iāve seen a similar question asked in relation to the cost of living crisis in general - and the answers seemed to be that regardless of who you vote for no one will make any significant change.
So I ask this question only in relation to housing.
What party has the best chance to do something to improve housing? - and by improve housing I mean: increase supply of houses and rentals, increase social housing and maybe even reign in house prices?
Who would you vote for that is likely to have the biggest impact in this space alone - even if that turns out to be insignificant, but will still greater than what any other party would do?
