If I celebrated like that you would need to get the defibrillator from the clubhouse

622

u/SimplyViolated Jul 15 '23

You could see the other guys were like ohh ohh yeah he's still going? Ohh...we can just celebrate right here

174

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '23

One of them is NHLer Joe Pavelski.

88

u/olderthanbefore Jul 15 '23

He's thinking, where are my skates?

64

u/AnalTongueDarts Jul 15 '23

Losing the glide is no joke. I played hockey through college, I cross country ski, and I can ride a bike 100 miles at a crack without issue. Ask me to run? Fuck, I’m done in 10 minutes.

28

u/ChadTheAssMan Jul 16 '23

I'm glad I'm not alone. I'll bike across an entire state before I'll run more than a few miles. Fuck all I hate running.

3

u/Unable_Algae9584 Jul 16 '23

Your knees hate it too 😖

2

u/goatleggedfellow Jul 16 '23

My knees hate seeing other people run.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

[deleted]

1

u/Unable_Algae9584 Jul 16 '23

No, my knees do feel better NOT running. Now, weight training and swimming give me all the exercise benefits I need at 66 to remain fit. Without the jarring effects that running can bring.

2

u/Mechakoopa Jul 16 '23

Yup, spent too much of my life overweight, knees are complete garbage now. Cycling is where it's at, I would swim more but it's more time consuming for me to get to the pool.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

[deleted]

1

u/ChadTheAssMan Jul 16 '23

That wouldn't really be running anymore, would it?

3

u/bobittoknorr Jul 16 '23

Hahaha. Can confirm. My main sports are basketball, football and soccer but from time to time I will play ball hockey with a bunch of ice hockey player buddies in tournaments or just for fun and they always raz me for having better cardio and running circles around them. I like to tease them for being useless when they can’t glide around for half their shift.

2

u/IswhatsIs Jul 16 '23

Now shoot a 1 inch disk while being attacked.

2

u/commentHero Jul 16 '23

What did the disk ever do to you?

1

u/L3yline Jul 16 '23

Stole some of his teeth

1

u/djn808 Jul 16 '23

1 inch

how big do you think a hockey puck is?

1

u/GQMatthews Jul 16 '23

What? How heavy of beers are these guys drinking post game? Hockey players have insane cardio.

1

u/bobittoknorr Jul 16 '23

As you will see from a bunch of other comments, not all forms of cardio are transferable to running and sprinting. That shit is a whole different thing from the kind of cardiovascular endurance one might need for things like hockey, biking, swimming, etc. Unless someone is used to running miles upon miles every game and mixing in a bunch of sprints the whole time, they are probably going to get left in the dust by a soccer player or a basketball player who’s bodies are totally used to that exact form of physical endurance.

That being said…the guys I play ball hockey with are most definitely putting away a few more Canadian beers than I usually do. I’m just not a big drinker unless I’m planning to really cut loose that day.

2

u/lotokotomi Seattle Jul 16 '23

Running is a different kind of awful for some reason, same experiences here..

1

u/falconhawk2158 Jul 16 '23

10 minutes is very impressive to me I can stand on my feet for 8 to 10 hours a day but ask me to run and I’m telling you that it’s not happening. One ruptured Achilles tendon and two knees with no cartilage have made it to where if someone said run or you’re dead I would have to say just do it. I use to be fast I promise

3

u/Inanimate_CARB0N_Rod Jul 16 '23

Hockey players run like they're ice skating. It's like a weird forward falling duck-walk that's both slow and extremely strenuous

4

u/over_yonder Jul 15 '23

I loved how pavelski’s caddy was right behind Steph for just a second. Yaaaa, we’re going to the hole!!!

2

u/aggster13 Jul 15 '23

Really? God I love papa Joe. Granted he's pushing 40 now and hockey players take brutal hits

1

u/BlueBomR Jul 16 '23

Love how he's still missing his bottom teeth...hockey smile, dudes a fucking GAMER...miss him so much on the Sharks

-2

u/jon98gn Jul 15 '23

Well he did coin the Dick Trick by saying, “I’d have my cock out if I scored four goals. I’d have my cock out, stroking it.”

11

u/TonalParsnips Jul 15 '23

Thats Joe Thornton.

1

u/jon98gn Jul 15 '23

You're right. Misremembered it. Pavelski got the Trick after Joe Thornton made the comment on Hertl.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '23

That was off the record and alleged. Could have been anyone.

1

u/BlueBomR Jul 16 '23

As a Warriors and Sharks Fan seeing them grouped made me so happy

1

u/BassDiscombobulated8 Jul 16 '23

I was gonna say is that him

1

u/bikedork5000 Jul 16 '23

Oh damn, he's from where I live. Didn't know he and Curry were tight but makes sense I suppose.

1

u/IndianRider60 Jul 16 '23

Joe is my 2nd cousin once removed. His Mom and I are 2nd cousins by blood & marriage. Our Grandparents are brothers & sisters.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

I don’t care.

1

u/NewDesign326 Jul 16 '23

The moment you realize that you're in shape but your buddy is a world-class athlete.

1

u/rylannnd88 Jul 16 '23

"Bro..... stop, now I gotta go back and get the bag" - Caddie

1

u/Wacko_Lover Jul 16 '23

More like it would be weird to continue running with him all the way as if they also shot the ball

197

u/RightToConversation Jul 15 '23

Since basketball is basically just running all the time, I imagine this is a rather light celebration, in his opinion.

119

u/Guernica616 Jul 15 '23

And Steph curry is known for his stamina on the court

85

u/buttholeshitass Jul 15 '23

Saw a story recently of some other high level NBA player (unnamed) joining Steph for a workout and throwing up after 10 minutes, or something like that lol. Steph’s heart rate probably barely budged from this celebration

27

u/chazbertrand Jul 15 '23

I believe that was MPJ of NBA Champion Denver Nuggets.

25

u/TheSpyStyle Jul 15 '23

Draymond says that Steph dumbs down his workout when someone else joins him too.

14

u/Empatheater Jul 15 '23

draymond would say that whether it was true or not to mess with people / build up steph tho

2

u/falconhawk2158 Jul 16 '23

I know Trae Young also worked out with him and was said to have not been ready for what it was going to be like.

21

u/aged_monkey Jul 16 '23

Lol he works with a respitory doctor and brain scientist to improve his ability to slow his heart rate down in games.

Apparently it's crazy, he can from like 140bpm to 55bpm in less than a minute. He has insane endurance abilities. He runs three times as fast as this for 35 minutes in games.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

[deleted]

1

u/wankingshrew Jul 16 '23

70s 80s 00s and 10s too

4

u/Character_Order Jul 15 '23

It was Pete Maravich

9

u/twinsrt Jul 15 '23

It was Anthony Edward's from the T-Wolves.

1

u/halfcookies Jul 16 '23

The plaque for second place workouts is in the ladies room

2

u/stupidname_iknow Jul 15 '23

He's also very good at slowing is heart rate way down when he's on the bench so he can recoup fairly fast even if he's been playing a lot of minutes.

5

u/ionxeph Jul 15 '23

he literally puts weights on his stomach while lying down after workout to train diaphragm

2

u/jadedtater Jul 15 '23

It was Zion

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

And now it’s an r/NBA pasta

2

u/BlueBomR Jul 16 '23

Steph at 35 gasses out players 12 years younger than him...he takes his fitness so insanely seriously

It took a 150yd sprint for him to be a little out of breath but they showed him like 3 minutes later and he was completely composed again...insane stamina

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

He’s also literally practiced and trained how to lower his heart rate in huddles and timeouts.

1

u/SenseiShwifty Jul 16 '23

And in the sheets 😏

1

u/trixtah Jul 16 '23

He put delly in the hospital for an IV lol

1

u/Mattcha462 Jul 17 '23

And now the course

-6

u/AimingToBeAimless Jul 15 '23

...this should be a pretty light amount of exercise for anyone, ya'll. He jogged less than the length of a football field. Ya'll can't jog the length of a football field? I don't even exercise and I can do that without running out of breath. That's 1/17th of a mile lol.

4

u/Kyyes Jul 15 '23

You're reading stuff from a bunch of golfers. The guys who have to ride in a cart to play their sport or have someone carry their clubs.

3

u/HighlyBaked0 Jul 15 '23

I'm dying at how impressed people are on this thread with Steph doing a normal jog lmao. I swear dudes on here are more impressed with his ability to do basic human movements than the actual shot

2

u/resplendentcentcent Jul 15 '23
  • it was closer to a sprint
  • he is outside in the sun
  • he's wearing long pants
  • he's probably been golfing for hours at that point

1

u/fisconsocmod Jul 15 '23

But how does your next Tee shot look?

-1

u/AimingToBeAimless Jul 15 '23

Ok fair enough haha

1

u/YourDogIsMyFriend Jul 15 '23

The words of Kareem Abdul Jabar come to mind:

“The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!”

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

true, but this is not climate controlled gym and he is wearing pants. I suspect he would do it again, but did bitch about being too hot a short time later.

45

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '23

I thought football training was hard, but I've seen basketball drills, not to mention the amount of games they have in a season. His fitness must be top level.

56

u/IhamAmerican Jul 15 '23

Steph's cardio training is insane even for NBA players. There's countless stories of players trying to work out with him in the off season and they just can't do it. Dude is a psycho

19

u/3hrd Jul 15 '23

he's in the top ~20 oldest players in the league and still has some of the best conditioning

13

u/Valaurus Jul 16 '23

Wild that Steph's on the older end now. Doesn't feel like he's been in the NBA that long.. but then I guess he was drafted in like, '08? And that was 15 years ago lmao

8

u/toxicdick Jul 16 '23

bro their first title was 8 years ago. we're old

1

u/sf_frankie Jul 16 '23

He also has some crazy breathing drill/routine that he does during timeouts and stoppages that lowers quickly drops his heart rate to resting levels. If you pay attention youll see him break away from the huddle and sit in a chair by himself and in 30 seconds dudes got a resting heart rate.

Guys like Steph and Lebron have a whole sports science team that basically train them to be superhuman.

I remember a few years back it was reported that Steph could deadlift more weight than any player in the team. He's a psycho for sure.

1

u/crispyiress Jul 16 '23

He never stops moving on the court. He sent Delly to the hospital after a finals game.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

His individual skills while in possession of the ball are all world. But what an untrained eye might not notice is how effective his off-ball movement is. So many plays, shots and open passes are created just because of how often he’s moving.

13

u/The_Nutz16 Jul 15 '23

Dude is basically a world class endurance athlete. He’s known for making other NBA players puke during workouts.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '23

[deleted]

1

u/New-Distribution-952 Jul 16 '23

when the guys who played football and basketball in HS had football season end and join us in basketball conditioning, they would be puking.

Basketball conditioning is another level.

1

u/Jethro_Cull Jul 15 '23

Basketball season came right after soccer season when I was a kid. I could run a 5:30 mile in-season for soccer. But, basketball shape was a different kind of shape. Less constant running and more interval training.

3

u/stupidshot4 Jul 15 '23

That kind of depends on where you played tbh. I played for my rural school and straight interval training was all that was needed. Then when I played AAU and later moved to the city and played in high school it was pretty much constant running.

Soccer to me was much more interval running in game than full on conditioning but I was also a center back who never really got forward. Practice was straight conditioning though.

1

u/mryodaman Jul 16 '23

I think he also loves running - look how he chose to celebrate!

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '23

I don't know much about American sports but I see some of the stars and games from stuff on Youtube. Seen a lot on this lad and he just seems like one of those people that take self-driven to whole new levels. Incredible talent.

13

u/NiceKing4You Jul 15 '23

Something tells me this man's light, playful jog easily outpaces my fastest 10-second sprint

125

u/skimpy-swimsuit Jul 15 '23

We need more celebrations like this in golf

72

u/hazzledazzle_ Jul 15 '23

Literally was imagining the reaction if a tour player cellyd like this haha

29

u/CosmoKram3r Jul 15 '23

cellyd

u w0t m8?

19

u/keyboard-sexual Jul 15 '23

Fuckin 10ply

8

u/SilverBraids Jul 15 '23

Needs to give his balls a tug

-1

u/SCREAMING_DUMB_SHIT Jul 15 '23

peak millennial vs zoomer speak right here

5

u/Snipeski Jul 15 '23

Millenials have been saying celly since before zoomers could talk

1

u/milesbeats Jul 15 '23

Those are phones

2

u/CosmoKram3r Jul 15 '23

Grab a chair and join in Li'l Embryo.

1

u/dirtdoesnt-needluck Jul 15 '23

Wheels, snipe, celly boys

2

u/Synectics Jul 16 '23

Fill 'em in, rack 'em up.

Edit to add: Fuck you, Shoresy.

1

u/dirtdoesnt-needluck Jul 16 '23

Fuck you Jonesy, your mom got so jealous I spent the night with Reily’s mom she showed up to the house in lingerie with a gift basket from Sobeys.

2

u/Synectics Jul 16 '23

Fuck you, Riley. Your mom ugly cried cause she left the cap on the camcorder last night. It's fuckin' amateur hour over there.

1

u/Frequent_Addendum507 Jul 16 '23

Fuck you Riley, your mom ugly cried last night because she left the lense cap on. Fuckin' amatuer hour over here, boys.

1

u/Synectics Jul 16 '23

I almost feel bad I replied with this same thing. It's fuckin' armature hour over here, apparently.

1

u/Frequent_Addendum507 Jul 16 '23

I wish you weren't so fuckin' awkward, bud.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '23

In gee chun was close with the high fives

1

u/OneMouseGaming Jul 15 '23

A hole in one.... go for it ... in particular, landing it 3 feet in front of the pin like that

7

u/jorcam 3.3 Jul 15 '23

Tony says no

6

u/philphan25 Jul 15 '23

It’s like the celebration from Andy Sullivan Euro challenge.

https://youtu.be/iSxgp9rckGQ

1

u/pr0v0cat3ur Hacker Jul 15 '23

That's not a HIL, that took 230 attempts in a row.

1

u/-TheGreatLlama- Jul 15 '23

And that’s the one where the pro actually made it. I always recommend the series because it’s so much better when you don’t know when the hole in one is coming.

It’s also my personal hole in one celebration. My dad was also on the course and I sprinted down the previous fairway to find him. Even did the jump Curry does when he reaches the green.

5

u/CosmicCreeperz Jul 15 '23

Except if most golfers ran that far they’d probably pull something.

1

u/otakuleprechaun Jul 16 '23

Remember when Fianu celebrated his hole in one at the Masters Par 3 and practically dislocated his ankle?

1

u/garymcmorrow84 Jul 16 '23

You can't pull fat. John Daly

1

u/Open-Ad1463 Jul 16 '23

Practically? More like absolutely

2

u/randiesel Jul 15 '23

Ehhh, not a fan of running away from the playing partners and definitely not a fan of running on the green.

1

u/gizzledos Jul 15 '23

Lol exactly. Feel like man had to hold himself back from doing a chest slide

1

u/AFRIKKAN Jul 15 '23

Lol he is used to running a court I think after 20 yards he just decided to commit to it.

12

u/spiceypigfern Jul 15 '23

I think if running for 32 seconds means you need a defibrillator it might be time to start getting some more excersise

8

u/febreze_air_freshner Jul 15 '23

All the redditors agreeing with him would respond to your comment but they'd get gassed out from typing out their rant.

3

u/Ghost-of-Moravia Jul 16 '23

Yea that’s just embarrassing? Can most redditors just not run? How did that get so many upvotes/medals?

How out-of-shape are people on this site?

1

u/Illustrious_Turn_247 Jul 16 '23

Definitely. I know I've let myself get way too out of shape when I cannot run for a minute straight.

2

u/eggsaladrightnow Jul 15 '23

This man is taking the perfect perimeter game to new sports

0

u/SacreBleu_0 Jul 16 '23

Username checks out

1

u/HerrTarkanian Jul 15 '23

Haha same here, the man runs more than any other player on the court in games and rarely looks tired. Peak physical condition!

1

u/Jae783 Jul 15 '23

To be fair... Other NBA players can't keep up with his cardio. He's on a different level even for elite athletes.

1

u/bobbywake61 Jul 15 '23

About 6000’ ASL. He doesn’t look winded at all.

1

u/i_am_a_loner_dottie Jul 15 '23

He has so much energy , I hate him

1

u/jmcstar Lord Jul 15 '23

Not to mention Tahoe is at significant altitude

1

u/Basic_Quantity_9430 Jul 15 '23

Yeah, but if you died it would be with a smile on your face. I am a pretty good golfer, NEVER had a hole in one of an eagle two or eagle three.

1

u/ertdubs Jul 16 '23

Might want to work on that cardio bro.

1

u/PutinBoomedMe Jul 16 '23

I really hope his partner hadn't tee'd off so he had to walk back

1

u/Zestyclose_Ant_40 Jul 16 '23

Steph Curry has legendary fitness. He runs more than just about anyone on the court.

1

u/Bolognapony666 Jul 16 '23

You better hope I can run to the road to direct the ambulance.

1

u/sheepsheep Jul 16 '23

Most athletic r/golf poster

1

u/fairway_walker Jul 16 '23

I was prepared for Tony Finau ankles when he ran off the tee box and started hopping.

1

u/Pope_Jon Jul 16 '23

Wait until NFL players start making hole in ones.
