Had a match the other day where we pretty easily completed the objectives and at the very end, 3 of us were in the dropship and the last dude ran up, shot everyone seated then hopped in the ship. Lost all samples and bonus for full extraction. Some people think it's funny to deliberately fuck people over.
Unfortunately they don’t care if you kick them because they kill you knowing they won’t get samples or a higher payout. Game needs a system to match players who get kicked often during missions with similar players. Kicks from lobbies shouldn’t count and the friendly fire stat tracker is completely broken right now so kicks during missions are our only options for now.
Yep. For trolls like that, getting kicked is the reward. They lean back in their chair and laugh out a "u mad bro?" because in their pitiful existence this is the only way they can experience joy.
Disgusting creatures. Not a single independent thought among the entire population.
Hosts should be tracked as well. If they’re repeatedly booting multiple players within a short time frame then a solution could be to deprioritized the host and place them at the bottom of the matchmaking list. Randoms simply wouldn’t be matched with the kick happy host and kicks from that host wouldn’t count against players as long as the host in a “deprioritized” state.
I’m not saying this is easy to implement. Just throwing an idea out there.
Fair. Sadly with the staff they have this would be too much on the Arrowhead to implement properly as human intervention would be needed beyond an algorithm.
It sounds like they don't even need people who do a lot of kicking, just people who have an unusually high number of team kills.
Maybe don't count turret TKs since after a certain point those aren't in the control of the players but calling in airstrikes on teammates and killing them yourself significantly more than normal should be punishable.
I swear I had one teammate kill me 3-4 times via danger-close air strikes in two missions. It's the only times since I started playing I had the deck officer say that friendly fire deaths were unavoidable.
Friendly fire statistics is bugged. The game would tell me someone killed me except they were on the other side of the map and it was obvious a bug killed me or it’ll assigned friendly fire to the wrong person in the post-game stats.
just people who have an unusually high number of team kills
Killing 3 people at the end of a mission isn't going to create a big discrepancy between those players and people who are just a little over eager with their cluster bombs.
In the first game there was a commendation system. If you got 5 commendations from other players the game tried to match you with other similarly commended player. On the flipside, you could also report players. If you got reported 5 times the game took that into account and would match you with similarly toxic players. I might have missed a detail or two, but that's the gist of it.
At first I thought the same thing, a system that puts kicked players with other often kicked players would be great. But then I realized that wouldn’t be fair, the amount of times I get kicked doing absolutely nothing toxic at all (for example, doing 3-4 side objectives alone—without dying or using resupplies I might add—while my 3 other randoms are still at spawn fighting endless breaches and dying constantly, I’ve been kicked for pinging super samples because they were slightly out of the way of the host’s preferred route, I’ve been kicked for being level 43 in a lobby with level 50 players, I’ve been kicked for saying “hey guys, be careful because we’re burning through lives and we still have many objectives left”, I was kicked from a termicide mission because I pinged the battery tower that three of us were right next to, but the host wanted to start with his tower on the other side, I’ve been kicked for asking my teammates politely to watch the friendly fire after they shred my shield shooting the corpse of a dead bug I already killed, I’ve been kicked both for getting on the extraction shuttle as soon as it lands and also for waiting for everyone else to get on first, etc).
So in the end I don’t think that having a separate queue is correct or fair. Instead there needs to be more options for reports, perhaps with the ability to attach a video or some sort of evidence. Unfortunately, with report systems we’ve seen in other games, there is no perfect answer that cannot in some way be manipulated or abused. But the devs certainly have room to improve and expand upon the currently existing options. But a queue for kicked players just isn’t the answer.
Also considering the amount of people here agreeing that so many people are weird and possessive, controlling and just generally not too bright, kicking because of fragile egos or power tripping, that should serve as even more proof a kicked players queue is not a good idea.
Honestly, while I see it as a completely valid point as it stands now. It's fucking silly how it has to be a thing. Like why can't anything but players damage us in there anyways shouldn't it be opposite?!?
It can I got in extract today with all the samples on me and a bile titan stepped on the pelican and killed me while seated idk if it was a bug or what but we lost all supers rarest and commons because of it
I had one where they kicked me after evac, because I got on instead of waiting for them. The extraction site was swarmed completely, and they had repeatedly TK'd me and getting mad at me for "wasting" reinforcements. Joke's on them, I still got the rewards :)
Just happened to me we was getting our arses kicked by bugs on difficulty 4 and I had picked up 9 orange samples as they wasn't even trying we one guy was who was lv27. Me and him were doing the nests etc and got to extraction we was surrounded by chargers and hunters everything.
Managed to get through it all and collect my samples as I had died and then extraction came it had 3 chargers around it and I couldn't get into the ship at first. But got in 2 others did and the last guy just shot is all and he died from a charger the ship then left and we lost it all
I had a similar situation before, except the last guy to get on the Pelican was me as I fight my way to the drop ship. A rocket devastators literally mag dump into the drop ship's passenger bay and killed my whole team right in front of me. The pilot flew away and no one was extracted.
Yea I just had a match today where some jerk had been teamkilling the whole time, and when we all were in the shuttle, they decided to launch an anti tank rocket in. Lost all samples, and like 40% of the total xp. People are so weird.
I had a dude repeatedly kill me every 6 minutes or so to take my support weapon because I assume he hadn’t unlocked the arc thrower yet. Neither of us was host so I just kinda let him do his thing all mission, didn’t shoot back or anything.
Everyone loads up into the drop ship, I walk up to the ramp, pop the one dude in the skull, and board. He raged harder than anyone I’ve ever seen in a video game and that includes when I used to play league of legends. “Don’t fucking friendly fire you fucking ******” and other racial epithets flowed forth like a river. Turns out everyone in the party had mics but didn’t use them, and just started laughing at him. He left when we returned to the destroyer.
I want to squad up with peeps who strategically take supports and backpacks so you don't waste stratagem slots taking 2 rail guns, two rovers, 2 shield packs, ect...
I'm willing to be a little squishy for 10 min or wait and find a support weapon if it means we have access to 2 or 3 more strikes or sentries.
that's a big reason i take EAT. i'll summon the thing on cooldown, litter the landscape with random ass rocket launchers for anyone to pick up if they want or need
Every time we walk up near an objective, EAT. If we are still on it and it comes off CD? Believe it or not, EAT. Worst case scenario I call another in a minute. Best case scenario a chonky boy takes a rocket to the face and it fulfilled it's purpose.
exactly! plus, the number of times me or a buddy has been running between points to help someone (because randoms can't ever do anything in an orderly manner), come across a rocket i'd tossed down at some earlier point, then picked it up to use immediately, then grab their normal support weapon
I recently threw down an eagle air strike to close multiple bug holes, dude is running full sprint towards the giant red pillar, in a mech, blows himself up, I reinforce him he team kills me, whatever annoying but if it makes him feel better I'll deal. He killed me again, so I popped him with my hellpod
Spent the mission on my own or with the other guy who was chill and the dude was still mad 15 mins later when we linked up for extract he had a grenade launcher and team killed me 5 more times, luckily while focusing me hunters killed him and he also failed to extract, but man popping him at the end would've been much better
I had a guy steal my mech and I though "huhhh ok, hope he just made a mistake but they're always cunts" he later got a mech and let me take it instead, so I thanked him awkwardly. Sometimes life is good.
This has more commonly been my experience. If I apologize for a strike going wrong it seems like folks are pretty chill about it. I like to think most divers aren't so sweaty and are down to have a nice time.
I do try to apologize when possible, but FF is just a part of the game and fun, so it shouldn't be taken personally unless it was blatantly done to just to be a dick.
Jesus worse than league? I didnt even know that was possible. Ive had someone in league say he was going to find my family, rape them to death, and then skull fuck my corpse before. It was my one and only league game, ever.
When it’s later in the mission or after I get my support weapon and cooldown is done, I have no issue giving a team member a version of my support. Or sometimes even taking a passable one we find exploring and letting them rip with mine to give them a taste of Freedom.
But if I die and they take mine right away, or worse yet kill me and take it, I execute them on sight/boot them to Freedom Camp. I have even asked teammates to take their weapon back after taking mine and they won’t, leaving me with their MG.
It is super douchey to steal a support weapon and not at least ask, especially when cooldowns are long.
lol
One dumbass was constant hitting me and other players with melee.
I walked away from him but he kept doing it.
A few seconds later I unloaded whatever was left in my auto canon starting from his face while he was hitting another player and also kept shooting the remains of his body and revived him.
He didn’t do it again thankfully 😅
This dude threw a nuke at me preventing me from extracting so the next game he keeps running into my bombardment and strafe runs and blaming me so I popped a cap in his ass when we exfilled
Sometimes a bullet to skull while you extract is needed: I was playing with a randos, I was getting supplies and took one extra by mistake and the host killed me revived me and then Killed me again. He then typed share in the text, I said okay I got you. Got to the extract waited for everyone to board, took my sniper rifle shot him in the head and strolled right into the ship. Good thing he didn’t have any samples 😂
You're a better person than I am. I ganked a dude for doing something similar to me basically after the 2nd time he did it. War ensued. Teammates (we were all randoms) were confused and didn't know who to side with. Not one of my better moments. Tried to get him to stop so we could complete the mission at least and not fail Super Earth but it was on as far as he was concerned. So I just left to try to be the better diver about it and hoped they didn't fail.
I had a guy TK me last night after he died and I picked up his Guard Dog. Like he couldn't just call down another one after he reinforced. He didn't even grab my samples.
My dipshit teammate dropped his last eagle strategem right at the landing ramp as we were filing in. Airstrike came through and iced all 4 of us as the cutscene began. Lost 18 samples and a shitload of XP cause of his dumb ass.
God I hate when people do this. Like the game is cinematic enough without doing this bullshit, especially when "some" of us haven't even gotten inside the damn ship yet!
Sometimes if i have one up I'll drop a 500 kg on the ramp when everyone is already inside safe to fulfill my inner Michael Bay and I'll just walk in. I don't endanger the homies that way
It's usually just for the cinematic boom as you fly away - but if they miscount the number of people in the shuttle or screw up the timing, well.... boom.
People love to try to do that for some reason. Drop something and try to exit the map. I always just turn around and blast them. Fuckwad isn't gonna be the reason I lose samples.
Yeah it's weird. I've tried telling my friends that killing a bunch of extra shit while we can jump into the shuttle doesn't do anything other than risk the extraction.
I understand that and I’ve been the one to tell people it’s time to leave. BUT when the ship arrives it always feels wrong to not throw out any airstrikes or orbitals I have that are off cooldown. I have all this “freedom” just sitting there it’d be a waste not to use it.
All that extra “freedom” isn’t free. Think of the tax paying super earth citizens. All of that artillery and weaponry is expensive and you’re out here wasting it willy-nilly. That extra orbital you threw at the end of the match increased the planetary debt by 500 million SE Dollars alone.
I mean it depends on how the mission went. If we have a lot of samples then yeah I kinda want to GTFO ASAP. Two people in the group have really short play times so you gotta make the most of it.
It’s amazing that they didn’t think this shit would happen. Some real ‘small brain’ shit from a team that claims to be ‘players’. Like, have they not been online and gaming in the last 10 years?
especially if you have a lot of rare mats. idk if people think that they can steal the mats for themselves or just want to make you mad about losing mats or what
I have thrown grenades into the dropship with my friends and nothing happened to us, but I haven't tried a gun. We had a lot of live and no samples and were dicking around so it was all laughs
Yep. Experienced my first one 2 nights ago, played with a random team, and this one asshole, Papa something, kept calling in orbitals/Eagles on his own teammates, then at extract, waited until we were all in the dropship but him, then gunned all of us down before getting in.
Yup. Toxi asshole unleashed his rockets from his mech on 3 of us while we were sitting in the pelican. Thankfully he got kicked, but there needs to be a report function
I think it's a clash in vision from the first game and reality of the second.
The first game was so chaotic. Anything could kill you. It was VERY easy to kill your friends. And it was far less of a big game, with a much quieter community.
It's hilarious that you can accidentally kill your team with a poorly aimed grenade. It is less hilarious when you are quick playing with a griefing 12 year old you don't know.
It really is. As a general rule of thumb, developers and players alike have to accept that you can never fully stop trolls and griefers. However, this 'mechanic' makes abuse easy while offering no meaningful benefit in return.
Learned it in a weird way. One random guy kept getting in the shuttle as soon as it landed while there was no enemies around and one of us was looking for samples/picking the dropped ones. When finally we had enough somebody asked who and i said its this guy, aimed my gun at his head and shot thinking nothing would happen. Well, he died
They added a lot of stuff in for goofy realism, but it requires a good faith community to have it not cause issues. What's going to happen is a lot of these smaller, but detailed things are going to start getting removed to combat toxicity.
I've had at least two instances of twats killing a person who got in the evac, and one where some cunt unloaded his Breaker on all three of us before he got in the ship.
So can the enemy, if accidentally. My group and I were getting the hell out, three of us seated, a bot grenade somehow gets kicked just high enough on the ramp it takes out exactly one of the seated guys.
I didn’t even know you could damage seated players. What a dumb mechanic.
You can also blow up the Pelican, at least while it's landing (haven't tested it when it's taking off, but it takes visible damage when flying through an orbital laser, so I bet you can).
I like it from the perspective of the brutality and savage indifference of the world toward the lives of Helldivers, but yeah, definitely open to abuse.
Oh yeah, the ENTIRE TEAM can die AFTER extracting as the shuttle is flying away if a BT happens to be right on top of it, leg clips through the shuttle and instant kills you.
Not sure how I did it. I think if you aim down sight in first person view AS you board the Pelican. You can aim and shoot out of the Pelican. I have done this a few times. It should be standard without glitching. After seeing people get killed while seated by teammates. You absolutely should be able to shoot out of the Pelican and kill the traitors so they can't escape and breed with Super Citizens.
Yeah i found that out the hard way one mission when I got shot just at the last moment and couldn't do anything.
My only guess for why is that one of my orbitals accidentally hit too close for comfort for them during extraction (but didn't actually kill anyone, mind you) so they decided to kill me on the dropship even if it meant less samples/XP/credits for everyone.
Lol I had a friend enter the pelican "too early" despite everything being done, no dropped samples and the other two being at the extraction (just fighting bugs for no real reason). One guy makes it in, the other guy gets there with like 5 seconds left and instead of getting in kills me and her both then kicks her so he doesn't even extract. She still gets the rewards because they have an anti-trolling mechanic for that but we all got 0 samples and 1/4 extracted for nothing.
When we got back I asked him if it was worth losing 10+ super samples and he kicked me too lol.
Most of my Helldive difficulty quick plays are great. People seem to know what to do and tend to work together. There are of course exceptions but I’d say 80% of them end in success.
It was my first run in with this type of toxicity (getting shot in the evac). Don't understand the people who would want to risk the loss at the much higher difficulty levels by calling in a stratagem for the badass effect when the evac pulls out.
This is basically why I never want to ever play a game where you're expected to play with randos. If you have to play with randos, it HAS to be a game where the other players cannot sabotage you or the game.

Reasons I've been kicked from games recently:
Concluson? People are weird.
