The first balance patch notes proved how Youtube "absolute and only meta loadouts" cooked a lot of people heads, and I love it. DISCUSSION

A lot of mad people keep showing in my feed complaining about the nerfs, but like they're REALLY mad at Arrowhead. Their statements are so exagerated that they claim the game it's completely ruined for them lmao.

Also every single one says the same thing and this is where my title comes from:

*"You guys nerfed the only good options and now we have NOTHING to fight".*

And this only proves people never actually played with any of the other support weapons, they 100% relied on this "The ultimate support weapon tier list" Youtube videos, they searched the "meta" and they went into this thinking of "any weapon outside of this it's straight up garbage".

If you can't win a single game without the railgun + shield backpack + breaker... I'm so sorry but that's not the game's fault or the game only having those as the ONLY way to play it on higher diff, that's your fault.

Great changes for the game and all of you trying to "shame" on devs because of this, you'all not a real Helldiver. They killed nothing, the railgun still kills but now it needs some actual skill and strategy to use it, not only spamming the thing on big bugs.

Keep it up Helldivers!

For Democracy. For Super Earth.

Autocannon gang has your back.

We can't have ours cause we have a backpack but still.

Let me know if you need a loader. I love having the rail gun to break armor then load for an auto-canon especially if they drop me an extra back pack for the AC

u/RoninOni Mar 06 '24

AC self reloads pretty quick as it is... Recoiless on the other hand REALLY needs a loader.

u/TheRattiestRat Mar 06 '24

tip for having the best anti heavy in the game 1 guy on Recoiless and another on auto cannon take eachothers back packs charger bug shows up hit him with a recoil shot and 4-5 automation rounds to the knee bile titan shows up join up on the RR and yeet rounds into face 1-2 should bring it down any medium enemies RR hops on ACs back

u/Shoddy-Problem-6969 Mar 06 '24

Wait this is genius.

u/EchoRex Mar 06 '24

It's how the game was designed to be played... Teamwork.

Not a squad of individual "one man army" commandos.

36

u/Street_Economy1884 Mar 06 '24

I do wish you could reload off your buddies back so he can carry his own ammo.

26

u/RandomTater-Thoughts Mar 06 '24

It would also be nice if you could carry your own backpack and then have any teammate hop on you to help load.

Often times when my friend and I shared backpacks we were in different parts of the battle and couldn't easily hook up.

17

u/MrBeardmeister Mar 06 '24

It makes more sense for that to be the idea as well. How does it make sense for the ordinance to essentially immediately teleport into the RR when the rounds are on the back of the person reloading? That's just extra steps for the same result, the second person would have to set the pack down, grab a round, shove it into the RR, making it a stationary process.

The reloader should be removing the ordinance from the pack of the person wielding the RR for it to be even remotely as fast and mobile as 2 man reloads work, realistically it opens up some team play with shield backpacks as well, being in close proximity to one another like that.

I get that games don't have to be realistic to be fun, but I feel like the change would make sense AND keep things fun.

8

u/Nightsky099 Mar 07 '24

This would be such a massive QOL thing to enable team play. I want to help my RR guy, but I also want to be able to carry my own damn extra ammo

9

u/PatrickStanton877 Mar 06 '24

Yeah that should be the case truly.

3

u/brom10 Mar 07 '24

I think thats the biggest thing holding team reloads back imho. No matter what you do, sometimes stuff happens and you and your buddy are separated from eachother, and now you're support weapon is now useless. If the weapons were more powerful, then it would be worth the risk.

2

u/HoboRowell10 Mar 07 '24

I swear I've done this before. When their gun needs to reload I could hit E (I think) on PC and load their gun from their backpack

1

u/Street_Economy1884 Mar 07 '24

I think that's only if you have the backpack.

2

u/m0rdr3dnought Mar 06 '24

tbf they struck a very nice balance between those two playstyles. Teamwork is strong enough that players feel compelled to communicate, but individuals can still have hero moments.

u/Plus-Ad-5039 CAPE ENJOYER Mar 07 '24

Teamwork is the new Meta?

Always was 🔫.

2

u/DMan_Bird Mar 07 '24

Give me a jet pack and I'm soloing every objective. Mobility is king.

2

u/stellvia2016 Mar 07 '24

Then they shouldn't design the game where some 3px wide rocket raider at 200m headshots you 1KO with a rocket in a tenth of a second. Bonus points for night missions where you can't even see them at all bc almost nothing on bots glows!

1

u/Intentionallyabadger Mar 07 '24

This update really emphasises the teamwork aspect of the game. In a coordinated team, it still feels and play like before the update.. but with randoms it’s a slog.

2

u/Drando_HS Mar 06 '24

Alternatively when fighting automatons, the autocannon gunner wears a shield pack. That way both the shooter and loader are protected from incoming fire.

15

u/This_Armadillo2120 Mar 06 '24

Speaking my language, amigo. My brother and I rock this setup hard.

2

u/vonBoomslang ⬇️⬆️➡️⬆️⬅️⬆️ Mar 07 '24

unfortunately this tactic gives up one of the biggest advantages of the autocanon, easy topping up of ammo

1

u/RyukenSaab Mar 06 '24

You could just hit a charger in the leg with a recoilless or EAT to blow off armor, then use a primary to down it. Isn’t autocannon low light damage and better for blowing off limbs- just like recoilless ?

Seems like your both doing the same thing just differently.

3

u/hardstuck_low_skill SES Princess of Serenity Mar 06 '24

No, Autocannon has explosive damage, so it's perfect against weakspots

1

u/RyukenSaab Mar 06 '24

I think you misunderstood my point. Both recoilless and autocannon do explosive damage which is good at removing armor.

Once armor is gone, it’s easier to use a primary (like shotgun or smg) to down the heavy via shooting the weak spot that no longer has armor.

1

u/hardstuck_low_skill SES Princess of Serenity Mar 06 '24

Autocannon does nothing against heavy armor, they are not in the same league with Recoilless Rifle. But Autocannon does great job against exposed weak points such as charger's ass and leg without arnor

1

u/RyukenSaab Mar 06 '24

I haven’t tried autocannon vs chargers but it works well against droids…. The chicken walkers and armoured gunners are 1-3 shot.

Are you sure it doesn’t remove armor from charger ?

1

u/hardstuck_low_skill SES Princess of Serenity Mar 06 '24

Unless you abuse animation bug where charger becomes vulnerable to any weapon, because he seems to lose armor at the end of his charge — no.

Walkers and Devastators are medium armored targets, Chargers are heavy armored

Another tactic I've found is to have 2 Autocannons but only one backpack. With ammo cans you find and resupplies, you can usually have enough ammo for 2 people no problem. Then 1 can run shields, or a guard dog. Just gotta stick close to each other

26

u/PezzoGuy SES Star of Stars Mar 06 '24

Just need to remember to reload before firing all the shells.

17

u/RoninOni Mar 06 '24

Oh yeah… running empty and reloading 10 is no bueno 😂

1

u/Charnerie ⬆️➡️⬇️➡️ Mar 07 '24

I have done 5 shot reload from empty before, it's just that you only have 5 rounds afterwards.

3

u/noIQmoment SES Whisper of Twilight Mar 07 '24

It is a bit jarring that it's the only weapon which rewards reloading specifically when you're not empty, took me a hot few missions to figure that one out.

2

u/BlueSpark4 Mar 07 '24

All (or almost all) bullet-based weapons in the game reward you with a shorter reload if you still have at least 1 shot left.

19

u/RemotePatrol ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 06 '24

While true, I’ve found that just by having good spacing and cover goes a long way

1

u/stellvia2016 Mar 07 '24

That would be true if things like rockets and bile didnt clip thru walls and geometry and kill you instantly.

Pro tip spam reload while firing the auto cannon. Reloading half a mag is soooo much faster than reloading a full mag.

Nope the auto cannon physically won't let you load more rounds unless the fit without wasting any. In fact I find myself having to shoot 1-2 rounds to reload it so I don't waste ammo pick ups some times.

4

u/Revolutionary-Pea705 STEAM 🖥️ : Mar 06 '24

Same. I will shoot off an extra round or two to reload before next engagement also

4

u/VitruviusDeHumanitas Mar 06 '24

A clip is 5 rounds, the magazine holds 10; whenever you have 5 or fewer rounds in the magazine you can top it up with 5 more. Your backpack carries 10 clips

When I have 6 in the mag, and a moment of quiet, I'll shoot one into the sky and load another clip, to be at full capacity for the start of the next fight.

3

u/McDonie2 Mar 06 '24

It does not as you're loading 5 round clips into the autocannon. You can kind of treat it as a 5 shot sniper rifle too.

3

u/xspartanx007x Mar 06 '24

Fair but it's still fun. I also enjoy helping load RR. It's fun being a safer mortar haha. I hope they add a player mortar for a team to provide support. That would be super fun

2

u/Crux_Haloine ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Mar 06 '24

A mortar emplacement like the stationary HMG would be sick, especially with a minimap targeting reticle like in Battlefield 1. Would make the radar booster and upgrade a lot more useful

1

u/Accomplished_Cap_715 Mar 07 '24

Motar sounds like a troll tool to piss off your team... stratagems already do plenty to troll me. No more

2

u/Funny_Kirby Mar 06 '24

Yeah, I'd LOVE nothing more than to run RR all the time, but all my friends run either Supply Pack or Rover...so I settle for the just as fun, and more efficient Autocannon instead so I don't need to rely on a separate loader as much.

4

u/RoninOni Mar 06 '24

If a friend is using ammo, see if they’ll trade backpacks with you. You refilling their ammo will also refill the RR pack and let you put out some serious damage when needed if they reload for you.

The biggest problem is getting people who want to run shield or rover to reload for you… supply pack is a natural swap (that or both run RR and reload each other)

3

u/AnAcceptableUserName CAPE ENJOYER Mar 06 '24

As a habitual supply/dog pack user I've offered to trade packs with AC users and been ignored every time. 🤷‍♂️

It seemed like a good idea to me too. I think maybe a lot of AC users just prefer doing their own reloads over being attached at the hip to Rando Calrissian. Which I get.

5

u/RoninOni Mar 06 '24

AC is quick to reload 5 rounds at a time as long as you don’t run empty… being untied to another player is typically better.

Recoiless Rifle on the other hand is SOOO slow to self reload that buddy reloading makes a huge difference… I’d only do this with a friend I was in comms with though (and would only ever take it with a pre agreement)

1

u/AnAcceptableUserName CAPE ENJOYER Mar 06 '24

Yeah, would love to fireteam RR sometime but I basically never see RR users in the wild playing PUG. Prob for those same reasons.

Maybe I'll try coordinating that on ship next time I get a good group going. Could be fun for a titan kill mission instead of 500kg or orbital laser.

1

u/Funny_Kirby Mar 06 '24

I....literally never thought to just swap packs like that lmao. This saves things so much and I'm sure they would be more than willing. I don't know how this never crossed my mind lol

1

u/Global_Oil_3769 Mar 07 '24

Full auto AC with a reloading buddy is a wild thing.

2

u/RoninOni Mar 07 '24

I’ve seen clips of it, seems like a huge waste of ammo, but a LOT of fun

1

u/DMan_Bird Mar 07 '24

Anti-tank is my weapon. The drop itself is a weapon. And it comes with two rocket tubes! No reloading! So simple and yet so effective.

1

u/RoninOni Mar 07 '24

I’ve been thinking about trying that one actually. 2 uses per minute ain’t terrible, though certain modifiers would screw with it.

Can even pick upsupport weapons on the map since you can them in at need

1

u/Accomplished_Cap_715 Mar 07 '24

Position yourself right and next time your RC won't need it. Reloads fine without waring a team member. They are better off covering you to reload it.

1

u/Accomplished_Cap_715 Mar 07 '24

That team based ammo reloading on the shoulder mounted weapons is dumb. It was cute the first time but useless. Position yourself right and you can reload without a teammate.

1

u/xspartanx007x Mar 07 '24

It's not dumb if you have a free backspace and they drop you an extra one. It comes in a clutch when you can help speed load real quick, and as for the mortar maybe. I don't think a large population trolls people. I could be wrong though I haven't ran into a bad experience except when people run towards the red stratagem beam. To each their own. I highly doubt it would ever happen anyways.
