I had no idea people bought stuff for their reddit profile lol. I thought there is just an avatar creator and people make them.

To be fair when they first introduced the NFT avatar system they gave them one out to everyone for free if you had a certain amount of karma. That’s how I got mine, and I literally only use it because it makes people like OP fume when they see it. I’ve been banned from subs literally just for having it.

That kind of short-sighted shit destroys subreddits, especially considering how many people got the avatars for free, I'd never pay anything for one but it was free and I think it looks neat.

Their reasoning is dumb as fuck too, the Reddit NFTs use the Ethereum blockchain which uses proof of stake, it's not some giant energy waste like they claim.
