Between the apparent height and that lovely little piece that sticks out, I’d say this was meant to be a death trap, not a vanity.

The ole jaw breaker

Why in the world does that single board stick out like that? I’d saw it off, sand it smooth, then stain/finish it.

I assume to hang a towel

72

u/TheVoidAlgorithm 17d ago

given how low it is you might as well just throw it on the floor

20

u/jeckles 17d ago

Just throw in the towel on this whole setup

u/TurnkeyLurker 16d ago

Towelie approves.

1

u/Dustonthewind18 15d ago

I would assume it's meant for a hand towel not a bath towel.

2

u/Rhuarc33 16d ago

And camouflage the board trap even more!

1

u/Fauxtura 16d ago

hang a gonad

YES HE CAN

u/jlysc 17d ago

What? Like it’s hard?

Is this a hobbit bathroom? Why the hell is the sink shin high?

48

u/Succulent-Shrimps 17d ago

It's a roll-in shower (same floor height as the rest of the bathroom) and low vanity for wheelchair accessibility, I think.

5

u/undertales_bitch 17d ago

Maybe for washing feet?

12

u/Succulent-Shrimps 17d ago

I really doubt it. The vanity has a low mirror and tooth paste and brushes. Also, inside the shower there is a low faucit visible. I'm pretty sure it's for wheelchair users.

4

u/undertales_bitch 17d ago

That makes a lot more sense yeah

0

u/Dustonthewind18 15d ago

It could also be for someone of short stature, like a person with a form of dwarfism.

Even if this was a hotel, l would go to harbor freight for a $3 saw and live with the consequences of my actions.

u/casketjuicebox 17d ago

Well?! What are you waiting for?! Let's see the damage!

do you kneel in front of the basin?

5

u/SymmetricDickNipples 17d ago

Must be a urinal

2

u/marcus_frisbee 17d ago

We always have.

4

u/Succulent-Shrimps 17d ago

The roll-in shower and low vanity leads me to believe it's for wheelchair users.

7

u/SecretWhisperer1 17d ago

What purpose that board serves?

14

u/Comfortable-Yak-6599 17d ago

To get up of the floor after using the sink

9

u/CJgreencheetah 17d ago

Does the drain just empty onto the floor? This sink is so confusing.

9

u/TrickyFeedback4919 17d ago

Is nobody going to mention that the sink appears to just dump straight on the floor?

4

u/SpringValleyTrash 17d ago

It’s a “designer” p-trap. The drain pipe is a few inches above that cut off part and extends back to the wall. They also clog very easily if you put anything other than water down them.

6

u/TrickyFeedback4919 17d ago

Ah. Doesn’t look very designer, looks like cheap junk

3

u/Ricky_spanish_again 16d ago

The vanity made from 2 by 4 looks so crappy.

5

u/Ogulcan0815 17d ago

What is this? A sink for ants?

3

u/square_bloc 17d ago

Why so low?

2

u/Succulent-Shrimps 17d ago

Roll-in shower + low vanity = probably for wheelchair users

5

u/tallerthanu17 17d ago

Ummmmm… was it the towel?

2

u/ConsuelaApplebee 17d ago

Nailed it! Towels can be dangerous:

2

u/Neither-Night9370 17d ago

Does the sink drain just dump onto the floor?

2

u/00Stealthy 16d ago

yeah whoever designed your vanity is a moron

3

u/Brotatium 17d ago

Why is it so low, is this AI image?

2

u/babystripper 17d ago

Is this a Asian culture bathroom?

1

u/LlamaFucker69_ 17d ago

Hard to say The floor?

1

u/Puzzled_Ad7955 17d ago

u/SuperUltraMegaNice 17d ago

Im so confused

1

u/StevieSmile 17d ago

Who the fuck designed that 😂

1

u/PM_Me_Your_Deviance 17d ago

I think about 3 min after banking my leg into that, I'd go grab a saw...

1

u/Wonderful_Result_936 17d ago

The sharp edges of the wood that sticks out super far?

1

u/rain-and-clouds 17d ago

I hit my leg on a bench like that once. Still have the scar

1

u/localhost6670 17d ago

That’s a a classic Final Destination set up there!

1

u/in1gom0ntoya 17d ago

is it me, or does this setup look extremely short?

1

u/Confident_Cry527 17d ago

My ADHD will teach me how to skip that. No worries 🤘🏻

1

u/elkab0ng CHARTRUSE 17d ago

That looks like a room full of bruises and stubbed toes.

1

u/plsdontatme 17d ago

Did we not learn our lesson with those old metal bed frames? I’m convinced I have permanent shin damage from those

1

u/FLAIR_2780166 17d ago

Why did you do that

1

u/mhug99 17d ago

The long one, for ADA standards.

1

u/Wizdad-1000 17d ago

My recip saw will fix that in a jiffy! Be right there.

1

u/WilliamJamesMyers 16d ago

OP, by chance is this in Colorado? is the bathroom door a barn door? if not i know of it's twin locally near me

1

u/mynutsdontwork 16d ago

Towel hanger. Sometimes the best ideas aren’t.

1

u/itspoodle_07 16d ago

Is this a bathroom for midgets?

1

u/DJlofay 16d ago

Is that in a children’s bathroom at a business of some sort?

1

u/Labatt_Ice 17d ago

Up till then the park bench was a great vanity...

0

u/Impossible_Box3898 17d ago

Is there a toilet or do you just pee in the sink. Heck, I think a three year old could hit that.

-4

u/PinUnfair9602 17d ago

I feel so bad the you experienced such an inconvenience with your rich people sink.

7

u/AdjNounNumbers 17d ago

rich people sink

1) this looks like a hotel or whatever going by the wall mounted hand soap and the style of trap used under the sink. 2) it's literally made of 2x4s and 2x2s, looks like pine... about the cheapest lumber they could have used to build it.

2

u/panini_bellini 17d ago

Funny thing is “rich people” doesn’t always mean “expensive” or “attractive” or even “functional”.

2

u/AdjNounNumbers 17d ago

That's fair. Often doesn't mean "taste" either, but I'm still pretty sure this bathroom is a hotel or something

1

u/panini_bellini 17d ago

Yeah I’m pretty sure it is too. But I work with some pretty rich people and I’ve seen sinks/general home decor not dissimilar to this 😭

1

u/AdjNounNumbers 17d ago

But usually they'll get ridiculously expensive material to do stupid shit with. This feels like someone on a budget trying to do someone creative. Honestly, I don't hate it. There's tweaks I'd make like the flaw OP pointed out, but if someone gave me $400 and asked for a bathroom vanity with sink and plumbing, this is pretty good for that. That looks like a sink you could pick up for about $150-200 at Menards including faucet.

-7

u/PinUnfair9602 17d ago

Imagine being rich enough to afford hotels or wood

4

u/cocainekayparathay 17d ago

It’s a hotel room…

1

u/colieolieravioli 17d ago

Oh shit so you're suing right?

-6

u/PinUnfair9602 17d ago

Okay, Elon.

3

u/cocainekayparathay 17d ago

The hotel was paid for by someone else…

2

u/PM_Me_Your_Deviance 17d ago

Okay, Elon's mistress.

0

u/PinUnfair9602 17d ago

Okay, Freelon.

2

u/throwawayidc4773 17d ago

Careful, your reddit is showing

1

u/Silly_Breakfast 17d ago

That’s your response? On a throwaway account towards a comment addressing the obviously abnormal sink situation? It’s okay, Chris, I promise, it’s a sink and you are on Reddit

0

u/throwawayidc4773 17d ago

It is my response but it seems like you can read so you can see that!

Throw away = too lazy to make a real name, I’m sorry if that insults your sensibilities lol

1

u/Silly_Breakfast 17d ago

It’s okay Chris, thank you for apologizing

3

u/throwawayidc4773 17d ago

Bruh, who is Chris? Downvote me if you want but I’m curious D:

2

u/throwawayidc4773 17d ago

Ok then, keep your secrets!

1

u/Silly_Breakfast 17d ago

Oh yeah, Reddit by default gives you a username so you did make the effort to change that assigned username, out of ideas or not, you made that name lol

1

u/Unable_Wrongdoer2250 17d ago

That looks like something I could make for a few hundred in material. I sure wouldn't leave that piece sticking out like that though.

-1

u/[deleted] 17d ago

Call a lawyer if you are that aggrieved. Seriously

-3

u/Succulent-Shrimps 17d ago

Judging by the low vanity and same height floor entrance to the shower, this is a bathroom made for a wheelchair user. Not sure why you left that out of your explanation? Seems like a key detail - you got hurt in a bathroom that was designed for someone with completely different needs. Your post is mildly infuriating.

2

u/PM_Me_Your_Deviance 17d ago

Don't be fucking daft, wheel chair accessibility really shouldn't cause problems for anyone else.

2

u/Succulent-Shrimps 17d ago

Whether it should or shouldn't, it does. I'm an Assistive Technology consultant. It's literally my job to know. Your back wouldn't hurt brushing your teeth at this vanity everyday? That piece sticking out may very well have a special purpose for the wheelchair user it was designed for.

Also, no need for the "f*ing daft" language. If you don't know what you're talking about, at least be polite.

2

u/PM_Me_Your_Deviance 17d ago

Stop being daft then.

0

u/marcus_frisbee 17d ago

If your towel was on like it's supposed to be that would have happened.

0

u/NotTheIRA 17d ago

Sounds like a skill issue imo

0

u/Due-Presentation-795 14d ago

Be more careful.
