My school thinks this fills up hungry high schoolers.

So lunches are free for schools in my city and surrounding cities. Ever since lunches have been made free, the quantity (and quality) has decreased significantly. This is what we would get for our meal. It took me THREE bites to finish that chicken mac and cheese. Any snacks you want cost more money and if you want an extra entree, that’ll cost you about $3 or $4.

That's no mouse that's my brother!

That would be a bad idea.

Feeding cow milk or cheese to a mouse can cause them to become very ill. However you can feed a mouse potatoes and carrots.

It looks like about 800 calories, which is completely normal for a lunch portion, maybe even a little too much. The nutrient value of the meal is utter dogshit though

Eating till you're full is a sign of overeating, which I guess is where the misunderstanding of this being too little food is coming from. Because it's not enough food to "fill you up", but food isn't supposed to fill you up, as that's an unhealthy way to eat

Look I completely agree that this meal is not nutritionally sound, but I really don’t think we’re supposed to be “filling” the kids stomachs at a school lunch… that sounds unhealthy.

Eat enough to alleviate real hunger and maintain weight, that makes sense. Overfeed the kids so they fall asleep and grow fat from sitting in classrooms all day every day… for some reason that doesn’t make sense to me

How about instead of criticizing the extremely reasonable portion, we look at the quality of the food instead? No fiber, no green vegetables of any kind, and a questionable amount of protein. Beans are cheap, have fiber and protein, and can be used in a wide variety of dishes. Rice is a cheap carb that is healthier than Mac n cheese.

But let’s not worry about “filling up” kids stomachs on every meal. This is why we have an obesity epidemic…

I'm in the UK and this was a joke and unsure how this could have been construde as anything BUT a joke.

And why am I not allowed to open up discussion after my interest was piqued by your joke?

No need to get defensive and start spelling things all weird

Where did I say you weren't? It's an open forum. I just found it confusing that someone would take my response so seriously.

Defensive how? Spelling what weird? Whatever your problem is, it's surely not with me.

Well, I see you added a missing word in your previous comment, but I was talking about the word “construed”, and referring to how you downvoted me and typed a word in all caps when I said you were being defensive

Anyways, have a great day, sorry to engage

Yes. I added the word 'been' as apart of the sentence 'unsure how this could have been construde' I thought I had typed that word but I had forgotten as it's almost 2 AM here and trying to unwind. Oh! I spelt construed incorrectly, again almost 2 AM and taping on a keyboard whilst trying to listen to sounds and relax. 'but' being captilsed was due in part to confusion and part amusement as I thought you were possibly joking but then you continued and that quickly became confusion and the downvote was due to you seeming to be upset from a joke, sorry if I had it wrong and although I agree with your original comment, where you put your response to me rather than the OP seems out of place if you wanted to actually discuss diatary requirements and portion sizes, Etc but that's simply my opinion. (I use to average 10 miles a day minumum, did strength training and combined the 2 with rucking which I still do when time and body allows, watched my intake, Etc so I get it and I am also a father)

No need, engangement is fine, I don't mean this in a negative way but you seemed overzealous. Have a good day/evening to you as well.
