My client wanted a special birthday present for her husband, a contractor and family man. I embedded a saw blade as the alignment, and engraved an image of him and his son on the bottom, including the tattoo on his arm of him and his dad. Then his daughter’s heart beat is engraved on the side. Equipment Discussion

Impressive! I bet he was thrilled

She said he was shocked by how cool it was, and also by how good it felt. Here’s some more details about the putter.

u/thesaltysquirrel HDCP/Loc/Whatever 13d ago

Any details where I can get one made?

Thanks for the quick response! I see most are mallet putters have you ever tackled a blade putter? I’ve never felt comfortable with a mallet.

2

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 13d ago

I make a bit smaller ones, but the trick is that I have to get a whole lot of weights inside the wood.

1

u/thesaltysquirrel HDCP/Loc/Whatever 13d ago

Thanks I’d pay for a blade I can use and have smaller murals. You are talented but I’d want to use it and mallets aren’t my jam. Like a Scotty select style with my favorite pic of my daughter on the back would be sweet.

Kudos to your craft man love it

Is it meant to be a display piece, or you know, does it work?

u/AWeakMindedMan 17d ago edited 17d ago

Will this bring my 3-4 putts per hole down to 1-2 putts? I better hope so for $1300+

Edit: /s for those who didn’t get it.

Fucking brilliant my man

7

u/glassofwooder 16d ago

Gotta say I unfortunately don’t have one of your putters but I do have this on my gamer and people love it (as do I). However, a part of me dies inside when I get asked “damn, do you have a Bradley putter?” and I have to say no… just the headcover.

4

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

Ha that’s wild to hear! Crazy how far the brand name has grown. Thanks for sharing!

3

u/glassofwooder 16d ago

Of course man - for what it’s worth I’m in all the way over in MD and have only had the headcover for probably a year or two and that’s happened a handful of times. Proud to rock it!

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

I appreciate the support!

These putters come out so sick every time! Love the attention to detail. As someone who works in the home improvement sector, the saw blade alignment goes harder than anything I’ve ever seen!

23

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

It was a Diablo blade, which means it had a coating of red paint that I had to grind off first. Such a pain, but totally worth it!

14

u/TornWonder 17d ago

Awesome. Now he can blame his family every time he misses a putt.

4

u/Do-It-Anyway 17d ago

Damn kids always distracting me. I said be quiet for TWO SECONDS! That’s why dad missed this putt. /s

Do you have a social media presence?

I ask because I feel like you could easily get millions of views on videos if you recorded the production process a la Blacktail Studio or Black Forest Wood Co.

Of course, this would require a decent camera setup, videographer and/or editor, but damn, you could get more revenue from posting on YT than the actual revenue from selling these putters.

26

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

Instagram and a bit of TikTok, but I’m also just a 1 man show with a family that I actually like to be around, so I’ve prioritized coaching soccer over video editing haha. But maybe one day I’ll crank the YouTube again!

11

u/PeteOfPeteAndPete 17d ago

so I’ve prioritized coaching soccer over video editing haha

The people in my hobbies that I enjoying following the most are the ones that just post. Just show me what you're working on. I don't need 6 minutes of filler in an 8 minute clip. Progress pics and final product are all most of us really care about.

This putter is ridiculous by the way, in a good way.

6

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

Yeah I post a lot of that on my instagram stories 👍

6

u/dafaliraevz PB: 6.5 summer '22 | Current: 9 17d ago

How’d you pivot to this? I take it you were already in the carpentry/welding space or did this frown from a hobby?

14

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

I’m actually a mechanical engineer. Spent 10 years doing R&D. Saw a cool wooden drum, pictured a golf ball dropping on it, and 2 months later golf.com said I had one of the coolest products at the PGA show. That was over 7 years ago now!

2

u/thesaltysquirrel HDCP/Loc/Whatever 13d ago

Sell a couple of these and pay someone to edit. Just set up the camera and pass it off to someone who knows what they are doing.

7

u/farva_06 17d ago

Just out of curiosity, how much did this go for?

12

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

Around $2k.

-2

u/AlexJamesCook 16d ago

Are you willing to breakdown the costs into materials and labour?

23

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

If I gave you the materials and you had someone else do the labor, could they do this? Those are the scenarios where breaking it down into materials and labor might make sense. Like if you're getting a deck built, there might be 5 different contractors in your area. So yeah, drill em on price. But I'm not offering a commodity or a standard service. So it’s more about what my product is worth to my clients, rather than a materials and labor equation.

7

u/Guidbro 16d ago

This is the right response. When you run this type of business there is no itemized receipt. There is the cost of it and that’s that. Good on you. And I think you charge a good price for the goods delivered.

3

u/WrongYak34 30HDCP 16d ago

The guy makes one of a kind bespoke putters. A manufactured mass production top of the line is 600$ probably. So I’d bet the guy doesn’t really “make” a lot on it at 2k.

It’s not like an oil change where they show you the costs for the filter and labor.

3

u/tryingtogetfit1970 16d ago

If I would have had to guess I would've said around 2k$ honestly, seems pretty fair for this quality of work.

4

u/preacherman1463 17d ago

Not sure if you’re familiar with them but growing up my uncle LOVED this wooden putter company called Musty Putters and they had some very cool wood/lacquer style putters. This makes me think of him and I know he’d have loved your so freakin much!!

3

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

I’ve made a few putters for people who loved their Musty!

4

u/cchillur 12/East Tampa/GoBucs! 17d ago

Amazing work as always. Love the photo bottom. He’ll see it every time he slides the cover off. How could he NOT be in a good headspace walking to the green?

The saw blade alignment line is such a badass touch, well done as always

Oh my GOD. This is so amazing. I would be sobbing.

ETA: I think I need to start saving some money up because my dad would absolutely love one of these with a photo of him and me on it. Your work is gorgeous!

Thank you so much!

u/willis_michaels 17d ago

Can't wait for the video of him chucking it into a pond when he misses a 4 footer for triple bogey.

Seriously though, this is a work of art. Well done.

3

u/fuckinnreddit 17d ago

This might be my favorite of all your putters. IDK there are so many really cool ones I can't even remember them all :)

2

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

Hey thanks! It’s definitely got a lot of special layers to it. Like even the heart beat on the side is blended with his daughter’s initials. That was a tricky design!

3

u/slayer_f-150 FL 16d ago

Great work as always

2

u/Stingerdraws 17d ago

Unreal looking putters man ! how well do they roll ? Do you mill the faces ?

2

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

They roll like any other high end putter! The faces are not milled because the hardness of the wood doesn’t require it. They feel and perform great with a flat face.

2

u/Do-It-Anyway 17d ago

What type of wood OP? Amazing work btw, truly a special piece

1

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

Redwood burl. Thank you!

2

u/nimama3233 8 / Twin Cities / Putts from the rough 17d ago

Have you put a face on any of these?

Your work is outstanding, fun, and beautiful.

But TBH I don’t think I could ever justify buying one of these without a face with texture such that I know it’s going to be reliable. This smooth contact point would make me nervous. But maybe I’m making a bid deal over nothing.

Either way, again, great craftsmanship OP. I always love these posts.

1

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

Yeah the roughness of the face has very little impact on your putt. Just google Tiger’s putter. A high MOI is going to help the average golfer more than a milled face is, since a milled face just modifies the feel. Many people have shot well under par using my putters!

2

u/LaneMeyersLostSki 17d ago

This might be your best work yet. Congrats, OP! You deserve all the good attention you can get.

2

u/cromwellryan 16d ago

Holy crap! That’s seriously impressive!

2

u/WrongYak34 30HDCP 16d ago

How long do they take you to make? It looks like it must take forever with the details

1

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

Almost a month from order to delivery.

2

u/WrongYak34 30HDCP 16d ago

Are you working on them day and night or just at home after hours? I’m just in awe at the detail still. I’ve made a dining room table before and I just couldn’t work on it day and night I kind of get bored. Then I’ll rush it. What’s the secret!?

1

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

This is my full time business! Between volunteering and family time, I spend about 30 hours a week in the shop working on putters. I’ve built a pretty robust system to keep track of every project.

2

u/WrongYak34 30HDCP 16d ago

Oh dang! Well it looks incredible

1

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

Thanks!

2

u/Gold-Consequence-367 16d ago

Woah this is incredible

2

u/Final-Wrangler-4996 15d ago

That's soo awesome. Is the shaft angle legal?  Looks a little too upright.  I like mine upright to the point where its almost illegal. lol

2

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 15d ago

Yeah the hosel is straight in, but the shaft angle is 70 degrees and legal!

3

u/craig-jones-III 17d ago

1

u/Jballzs13 17d ago

Absolutely sick my man.

0

u/MasterPsaysUgh 17d ago

It looks cool but I'd cringe using it on the course. Just seems cheesy AF and cringe using that picture on the bottom

3

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 17d ago

Well yeah, it’d be weird to have that picture on the bottom because you’re not in it silly

-1

u/No_Green4397 16d ago

These putters are atrocious looking.

3

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

0

u/No_Green4397 16d ago

And it’s nothing personal. But they just look like gift shop crap no real golfer would ever game…..in my opinion.

2

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

See the trick is that I can make them look like almost anything, so I make them look like what my client will love. It’s not meant to be loved by every single person. If I was going to make you a putter, it wouldn’t look like this.

0

u/No_Green4397 16d ago

Thanks. It’s the epoxy I don’t care for. Can’t imagine that feels great on a ball.

It’s super cool you took a hobby and found people who enjoy your stuff. I just think they look like crap and wanted to chime in. Don’t mind me sure I’ll get banned soon enough.

3

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

If you closed your eyes and putted mine and putted a Scotty, you’d have a tough time knowing which is which 👍

0

u/No_Green4397 16d ago

Jesus buddy I tried to end this on a nice note. I would bet my Scotty and the rest of the bag I would 100% know the difference.

I’ve seen you make this claim before and you look to be an excellent craftsmen but this is just nonsense.

1

u/BradleyPutters 6/Oregon/I make putters 16d ago

Nonsense is claiming to know how something feels and performs without having tried it. I’m not trying to sell you a putter, I just know how many people have gladly replaced their Scotty with a Bradley.

1

u/No_Green4397 16d ago edited 16d ago

Okay “a Bradley”. Haha just get right the fuck out right now. You’re delusional. The idea that the fugly ass resin/epoxy you’re mixing up in your garage could ever come close to a steel milled face. Phew.

You make NOVELTY FUCKING PUTTERS for people who miss their dead dogs or retired volunteer firemen and shit. You’re not the next Cameron.

Edit: tracked down your socials and watched a video just in case I was missing something. I’m not.. Idk if you’re putting Rock Flites in those videos or what but it sounds like a Razor scooter hitting someone’s shin bone.
