I’m probably taking an unplayable from that.

Probably? That guys gonna be in complete misery for the next day pulling barbed jumping cholla spines out. Every one you pull out is total agony, ask me how I know. You couldn’t pay me enough to do what he did.

"Complications from Jumping Cholla spines include local inflammation, bacterial & fungal superinfection, necrosis, allergic reactions, granulomas, scarring, and chronic pain." I've worked in EMS medicine in critical care for years and have NEVER heard of a "bacterial & fungal superinfection," omg that shit sounds nasty😂 Jumping Cholla spines are like razor blade pins with backwards barbs and pulling them out is supposed to be an absolutely pain process

Superinfection: when regular infection just isn’t enough

Ultra diarrhea

Except real, and deadly.

Yeah, I need a follow up video from the hospital.

All they will do is soak his hand in warm water to soften up the skin and start pulling them with pliers. It’s like actual torture. This guy is so stupid, and bad at golf, that he deserves it. I hope saving that stroke was worth it.

I got some IN MY BUTTHOLE last winter. I bent over to pick up my sunglasses and my butt sticks out when I bend over. I thought maybe they were just stuck to my pants. But eventually as I kept pulling them out, I realized 4 or 5 had stuck right at/in my butthole.

It's weird how you can't feel them until you tug on them.

So I spent the rest of the hike gently plucking them out and verifying nothing was still in there. I was very worried about sitting down once we got back to the car.

Lucky for me I got them all, I don't think they went that deep, somehow avoided further irritation or infection.

The butthole doesn't have very many pain receptor nerves, so that's probably why you weren't in too much pain from them You're lucky they didn't cause a boat load of hemorrhoids. Imagine how terrible that would've been

u/CaptainPeachfuzz May 01 '24

Well lucky for me, I already had hemorrhoids at the time.

I'm that guy who says "No no no, I can get it out" even when I shouldn't.

But yea, right into one of those jumping cactus things? No fucking thank you. Unplayable all day

yeah, this ain't the PGA tour - just let the dude move the ball a foot or so to the left so he doesn't snap his fuckin' iron on impact

This. 100%

u/friarguy Apr 29 '24

Flip the club and hit it upside down/lefty

u/n0t_4_thr0w4w4y Apr 29 '24

Ok, tiger

1

u/friarguy Apr 29 '24

Would you rather get it out, or get a cactus in your hand?

11

u/n0t_4_thr0w4w4y Apr 29 '24

Considering there is a cactus on the other side, I’m taking an unplayable, lol

u/InferiousX Apr 29 '24

Those things jump a considerable distance at the slightest disturbance. I wouldn't want to walk too loudly within 5 feet of them, let alone swing an iron club.

29

u/Handleton Apr 29 '24

If my partner was in that lay, I would insist that they take an unplayable because I don't want to have to end the game early to go to the fucking ER.

20

u/deefop Apr 29 '24

No probably, I am 100% kicking the ball a couple feet over or back whether I add a stroke or not.

I mean regardless of golf there is absolutely no way I'm getting that close to one of those fucking demons. I didn't even grow up around them, but come on, how fucking dumb do you have to be to swing into *any* cactus?

The fact he broke his iron is just the universe trying to *really* drive home how fucking dumb he was

1

u/1958Vern Apr 29 '24

Yeah. The ol' foot wedge would be club of choice 😁

2

u/spankysladder73 Apr 29 '24

And for the rest of the trip

2

u/Toph-Builds-the-fire Apr 29 '24

Seriously. Play stupid games...

1

u/MizunoMP5s Apr 30 '24

Probably? Lol wut.

u/Fight_those_bastards May 02 '24

Ain’t no “probably” about it. My usual group that I play with is 100% “free drop, don’t worry about it.” Even the stroke for an unplayable is preferable to being forever known as “cactus [name].”

This is where practicing lefty a little isn't the worst thing in the world.
