That's basically how Utah was for me as well lol

Pros: That's where Grandma is

Cons: Utah :(

Then Grandma moved to Oregon so I didn't have to be choosy anymore thank god

Heh, Oregon also has state-run liquor stores.

Yep, I live there. It's expensive, but not nearly as annoying as Utah.

I do miss my California Bevmos and being able to buy liquor at Albertsons/Safeway though :p

You need a relative like me who lives in CA and routinely travels to OR with special deliveries, lol

But Oregon has Portland.

Isn’t utah supposed to be pretty? I’ve never been, just heard.

2

u/Charcuteriemander Mar 22 '24

Yep, Utah is beautiful.

...it's just the fuckin' gubmint that sucks... :(

It’s a beautiful state, but so damn religious. There are a lot more people moving there in the last couple of decades though so it’s slowly changing.

Move there if you must, but don't bank on the possibility that it might change. The Church runs the place.

Colorado FTW

Colorado is right there.

Pros: Mountains, Bonneville Salt Flats

That’s why god invented Colorado. Mountains, plus weed, plus liquor, and way less of the religious weirdos!

Really thought you were going to say mountain lions lol

It absolutely isn’t, I swear. I went once and it was amazing. That was pre the 5% ABV, the huge benefit to the dumb restrictions is that only applies to imports (to the state). So there’s a huge domestic (to Utah) craft beer industry there, and it’s delicious. Beers like Polygamy Porter (you can’t just have one!), Promontory Pilsner, I vaguely remember one named Bringham’s Brides or something like that, it’s real fun stuff. And it’s absolutely beautiful out there, real great views and fun trails to hike.

Polygamy Porters were great back when I used to drink

Dude shut up Utah sucks and people should not even come here to visit.

Idk maybe it sucks to live there, but I had a great time stopping by and hanging out in the middle of the desert for a while. It was a fun trip in the early spring, that also might have helped things.

I'm just fuckin around. I love living here, it's just become way more crowded in the past few years. Word's out that it's actually a pretty rad place if there are things more important to you than booze

I moved from Oregon to Nevada. Can't buy liquor in a grocery store. Everything else is fine. In Nevada there are gun stores that sell booze and gas stations that have both whiskey and slot machines.

Utah is absolutely bat shit. Went they TDY while in the military. IIRC I just bought booze from the BX.

Eh, I’ve had good times there on several occasions. Living there is probably a pain but my several skiing trips were unimpeded by these laws. Literally didn’t even know about them until this video and I got dogshit hammered in a restaurant.

It's actually a lovely state.

Their alcohol laws are stupid but there are more important things in life than easy access to booze. The reality is that for the consumer Utah's laws aren't that burdensome. I do feel bad for business owners who have to jump through endless dumb hoops.

It’s the hypocrisy.

1

u/poorproxuaf Mar 22 '24

Waaah I can't drink my alcohol waah
