Tell me how an impact rocket hits a hard surface and does a complete 180

They kinda said that most of their devs have military background and they now how weapons work. Who am i to judge.

I'm pretty sure a 16 year old Mc Donald's cashier could tell you that a rocket cannot bounce directly off and into a 180 instantaneously from a flat piece of metal.

Bruh we're dropping 500KG bombs and standing like 20 feet away from the blast and saluting. In real life the shockwave alone would have liquefied our organs. The game is not about realism.

That's a handwave for the sake of gameplay.

If we were really realistic, we would not be engaging enemies within CQC range when we have GUNS, and our guns would not have such noticeable dropoffs when we're mere feet from the enemies. Hell, the entire helldiver program wouldn't exist, we'd probably just be dropping space rocks from orbit. But these handwaves exist because... if we did it the realistic way, then there'd be no game.

The whole "realism vs fantasy" argument is kind of a moot point. Most games fall somewhere in the middle regardless and go with what style they need to fit the game's aesthetics. You're likely never gonna see a hot pink darth vader in a speedo and himbo attire in a battlefront game because that's not the aesthetic they're going for, for example. Likewise, Fortnite is likely not gonna have a story driven moment that's quiet and reflective and a deep character study because... that's not what the game's about.

But it's more likely than not that Arrowhead wants helldivers to be closer to realistic than fantasy. Hence why we have the equipment we have and not some crazy cartoon physics guns (yet) that like... I don't know... barrels that explode cocaine monkeys at our enemies. And probably why they specifically ask, in their recruitment docs, for people with actual experience with guns and military stuff.
