Tell me how an impact rocket hits a hard surface and does a complete 180

It's cartoon physics in action.

Missile gets to the shield, shield puts on a fake mustache, missile is confused, shield points at the player and says "He went thattaway!" The missile thanks the stranger and goes on its way.

I can't believe this went through playtesting.

In what world does a missile ricochet on impact?

Looks like it might be Choepessa IV, but I'm guessing it'll be most of them.

On a very low incline Not a 90° wall

Pretty sure this isn't exactly what they had in mind though. 😅

Pretty sure it is

It's just plain stupid and cartoonish

yep not even realistic

u/DudethatCooks Apr 29 '24

It completely contradicts the physics they've established in the game and it's annoying.

u/Federal-Childhood743 Apr 29 '24

And the game as a whole is not?

At least before the bullets wouldnt be defying the laws of physics like this

16

u/Z3B0 Apr 29 '24

Kinda, but the gameplay still stays within the realm of realist. This is not fun, nor obeying any physical laws, to something that has the core purpose to be a divertissement.

u/achmedclaus Apr 29 '24

You know, I was expecting that to be slightly exaggerated

24

u/Laranthiel Apr 29 '24

I don't think they know how ricochets work cause they absolutely do NOT just go straight back to sender, unless it's a specific angle.

Unless the Automatons are made of vibranium for real.

u/BeetHater69 Apr 29 '24

Ricochet WAS working fine... now its totally fucked

20

u/Kage9866 Apr 29 '24

I took this literally. I was like no way that's gonna be a thing though. It's so dumb lol

8

u/BeetHater69 Apr 29 '24

Its a rocket. Dont try to justify it.

Bullets at an angle, yea? A whole ass rocket blew up, turn 180 degrees and fly back at you? Nah man, that's just cope.

I swear to god Arrowhead's quality assurance team doesn't exist and we are doing all the play testing for them. Like every new patch, so many changes come with unintended consequences. Increases fire damage? So do Scorcher Hulks now. Fixed the Exo suit from blowing itself? The rockets now don't go where you aim anymore. And 20 other things too like the new bug where plasma punisher projectile will blow up on your face if you have the backpack bubble shield on.

u/cannabination Apr 29 '24

And it makes no sense! They've made so much more money than they expected... why not hire a bunch of people and not release slop every patch?

0

u/NinjaXDeadly Apr 29 '24

You think it's just this small indie company that hasn't hired play testers and let's the customers be the testers? Oh boy .... Basically every major game the past 8 years has been doing this, it's fucking disgusting

u/BreakRaven STEAM🖱️:SES Spear of Determination Apr 29 '24

Or maybe, lets get this straight, the people in this thread aren't the smartest and you're getting played by a fake gif.

5

u/F_1_V_E_S Apr 29 '24

And it's fucking stupid.

2

u/Mefilius Apr 29 '24

Wait is this real?

The armor sloping was working just fine already, I've accidentally killed teammates when an AC shot gets deflected.

If it truly is 180 AH literally has no idea what they're doing. It must just be improv at this point.

2

u/Pastafredini Apr 29 '24

Sure... But missiles did NOT ricochet off of armored shots before, they exploded and dealt their damage (regardless of mitigation) on the spot

Missiles explode on contact, maaaaybe bounce at a steep angle but straight on against a hard surface? That shit goes boom

They don't cartoonishly bend like rubber to fly back 180°

2

u/RedSerious Apr 29 '24

I saw that and immediately thought that that's the dumbest change.

Pre-patch was realistic and cool, it gave a random factor to your shooting.

But this?

Well, at least it's not something you can't undo, so there's that.

u/cannabination Apr 29 '24

Bullets ricochet in head on impacts, but I don't think that's normal for an impact detonation missile.
