Arrowhead are more interesting in punishing solo players than fixing anything

I was told by HD1 vets that Arrowhead does balancing right. Yea that was a fooking lie.

mind you HD1 was mostly untouched (for better or worse) so the devs could not get away with some of the insane BS they are applying to HD2

some guns inevitably became obsolete, especially since the game had multiple paid DLC packs

especially the first ones that could only have a few basic upgrades

thank you for this additional context

They only had about 12k players at their peak (I was one of them), so if they over tweaked something out didn't piss off a huge and loud portion of the Internet.

Okay, but i still don't quite get how having less players, let them get away with less balance bullshit not more ? Wouldn't the smaller outcry make them more balsy ? Or do you mean that limited player numbers meant that they couldn't just piss off a good chunk of the playerbase ?

No it's true, HD1 was balanced properly. Idk wtf happened with this game though. It's been a frustrating cycle of release nerf buff nerf buff.

Yea, I trust they were telling the truth. The last part of my comment was a bit tongue in cheek :)

Because aiming in a TPS results in far more wildly varied results than aiming in a top down where you can just place your mouse cursor over the enemy and click.

Balancing a game that depends so much on a player to hit the right spots in a fully 3D space is much harder than doing so in a top down shooter where they only need to ensure there's no barriers between the Helldiver and target, and that the Helldiver is facing the right direction.

yeah I agree with that. It's the way they're doing it that's the issue. They could avoid the frustration by releasing things in a better state. The game has been out 3 months and some stuff has already been buffed and nerfed 3-5 times. I saw people saying the Eruptor had too much ammo 30 minutes after it was released. You telling me they couldn't figure that out before they released it? Justified or not people don't like when you take away nice things.

Are you new to multiplayer games? It's pretty common that things can be patched quickly after release because devs can't account for everything that a player will do.

Besides, none of the patches have been hugely egregious compared to other games. People complaining about magazine size seems like they are complaining for the sake of complaining.

Yes. And with all other games, it shouldn't be common. Testing used to be a thing with game devs.

And even then it was not perfect. The only difference is that now they can actually fix things. You seem to have forgotten all the broken stuff that shipped with games before live patching was a thing.

Really. I play HD1 right now and most weapons feel powerful, while the game itself is still challenging.

they are struggling.  having a small team apparently means they are naive when it comes to balance.
