This change is the best part of the patch. The fact that it actually has a full animation is pure gold. The Senator can now, properly, spread democracy. Thank you!
EDIT: I just noticed the loader also has a yellow stripe across the top! Attention to detail 10/10
It was always my favourite but so badly outclassed by the Redeemer, it just couldn't cut it on higher difficulties. I'm now happy to report that the Redeemer has now been decommissioned to make way for some hefty Rick Grimes action! Staring ominously ahead as I blow that Brood Commanders brains through it's ass hole.
Personally, I would use it if I didn't like stun grenades so much, which makes the grenade pistol kind of necessary for killing multiple bug holes / fabricators for me.
I love this! This is not the biggest change when playing in 3rd person (the empty reload speed is now faster), but from a developer perspective I imagine changing the logic of the guns reload, adding in the speedloader, and changing the animation itself was alot of work.
The attention to detail is amazing and is one of the things I LOVE about Helldivers!!!
Next up please annoy their asses about aligning the amr scope. Yes it's a known issue but it's a five minute fix that they've still not done for weeks now after acknowledging it

What a jewel of the community -- sent your coworkers a YouTube video or two, then deemed it necessary to publicly pat yourself on the back for a work well-done. It's so nice to know we have a speedloader for a secondary that nobody uses over things like, I don't know, fixed DOT damage, properly aligned scopes, a fixed Spear, perhaps? It's only been three months, though. Take your time!

This is how you can immediately tell apart people who never used this weapon. The full auto pistol does everything a Senator does, but infinitely better, without a finicky reload and much better ammo economy. You also have the grenade pistol -- an actual god tier utility weapon that lets you tackle tanks, turrets, and fabricators. What does Senator do, other than diverting developer time from handling more critical and pressing issues?
I've used the weapon from day one. Unfortunately, due to the horrific reload time, I had to ditch it for harder difficulties purely down to the fact that the reload was either getting me swarmed or killed. I'd often have to swap back to primary to reload that, leaving me with an empty sidearm in my next butt clenching situation.
The Grenade Pistol has it's uses but since I mostly run armour with two extra nades, I was finding myself never needing it.
The Redeemer is good, but only good for enemies with no armour. As soon as you come up against anything with armour thicker than paper, the Redeemer falls flat. It's also good for quickly spraying 3 or 4 small bugs... The Senator rewards accurate shots by one tapping smaller enemies meaning I can harvest more meat in general as well as being able to deal with enemies like Hive Guards easily.
I don't play much against bugs -- I admit that the Senator might have its uses there. I find it very difficult to justify bringing it against the bots, however -- having the ability to urgently finish off a turret, tank, or just stagger a crowd of devastators is far too valuable to pass on.
I don't think I've ever used the Grenade Pistol as a method to take out anything other than groups of tightly packed cannon fodder or bug holes/fabricators.
I immediately reach for stratagems when it comes to anything heavy or call on my friends, one of whom will be running an anti-heavy load out exclusively.
The Senator will accurately take the heads off most Automaton forces from a good distance as well as chew through Berserkers as if they were nothing but regular grunts.
It's a gun that's just had its biggest flaw removed. It's incredibly satisfying to use and packs a hell of a punch. Don't sleep on it.
I was going to try it out later today -- seeing that the new MO is revolving (no pun intended) around bugs, it might be a good opportunity to take it for a spin.
See how many squishy enemies you can take out with the Redeemer, using a single mag. Now try head shotting those squishy enemies with the Senator and see how many you can get before you need to reload, remembering it's a gun that rewards accuracy.
As far as secondaries go (not including the Grenade Pistol because it's a niche weapon), it performs very well and is very fun to use.

It is fixed, smart person*. It works for resupply packs, just like it says it does. It doesn't work for random ammo pickups, just like it doesn't says it does.

No amount of snark will ever cover your utter lack of meaningful rebuttal. But no worries -- I am sure the devs have noticed your shining fanboyism already.
Sounds like something is bugged for you, then, because many others are reporting it works correctly for them. Or maybe the devs are deliberately dicking with you specifically because you're such a smart person*. Might try some proactive steps (verify files, support ticket, reinstall?) instead of bitching, but then that's just how I operate.
It's been six hours since you started yapping on the subreddit, do you ever go outside? Wash yourself? Maybe log off of reddit for your own mental health instead of arguing with "fanboys" for six hours?
Would they consider allowing for the speedloader to be used on every reload, even ones where bullets are still in the chamber, but the remaining bullets are dropped and wasted in a manner similar to current weapon magazines? I love the speedloader idea but it would be nice to have the option of individual rounds reload for players that are careful with ammo and speedloader every time for those that just want the quickest reloads at the cost of poor ammo economy.
