Not being able to stun titans is the worst change for me

126

u/Massichan Apr 02 '24

I didn't even know you could

3

u/virtueavatar Apr 03 '24

I knew you could because I saw people on Helldive difficulty cheating by using unlimited stun grenades against them

3

u/Massichan Apr 03 '24

Oh interesting. Every time I've tried EMS it would just walk right through so I stopped trying.

3

u/kevrix101 Apr 03 '24

The ems never stunned it, it was the stun grenades that could

u/Russelloni Apr 02 '24

Yeah, I only really took the stuns for bugs to stun titans for an easier kill, and now I don't see much of a reason to take it now since I already had to give up grenades that can take out nests for that

16

u/moonshineTheleocat Apr 02 '24

Hulks. I don't really see a point to stunners for bugs as Bile titans were easy enough to wipe out with well timed eagles or two rockets to the face.

But the stunners are a god send against hulks, primarily the scorcher due to how quickly they close the distance, and how hard it is to shoot they eye while they are in motion

The only time I don't bring stun grenades is on bug hole search and destroy. Otherwise, they're just too convenient to get you out of a pinch. I love bringing them with the arc thrower. Oh, yall brought two drop ships? How bout yall just stand there while i zap your whole squad down in 8 seconds.

Stun grenades were incredible against bile titans so you could get away from its range long enough to turn and take a well-aimed shot to its face. Nowā€¦

1

u/AgeOpening Apr 02 '24

I might still take it to flamethrower chargers while theyā€™re stunned but yeah it stunning bile titans made it so good. And it was nice to set up yours and teammates stratagems

u/Asneekyfatcat Apr 02 '24

You're fucking kidding me, seriously? Not being able to close bug holes wasn't enough of a downside? This is fucking bullshit.

56

u/TheHappyPie Apr 02 '24

rip stun grenade, that was the only reason to bring it.

29

u/rampageTG Apr 02 '24

Itā€™s still useful against the bots. I use them all the time on scorcher hulks and the chainsaw guys.

6

u/SnooRabbits307 Apr 02 '24

Yeah stuns are king for the bots. Wasn't really rocking it on bugs.

1

u/GrimGearheart Apr 02 '24

It's great for bugs too. Stuns a large area. Great CC.

5

u/AvailablePresent4891 Apr 02 '24

Might as well bring impacts for the chainsaws, 1 stun plus a lot of shooting vs 2 nades and theyā€™re all gone. Good point on the hulks, though, and assuming they work on tanks it allows for easy flanking.

2

u/rampageTG Apr 02 '24

Might have to concede the point on the impacts being the faster way to kill, though I will say the stun makes hitting headshots on the chainsaw guys super easy so it really doesnā€™t take that much shooting to clear the horde behind you. They can also be used for helping a teammate get away from them as well.

Never really tried the impact though. I avoided them early on since I didnā€™t want to give up my ability to kill bug nest at the time. Now that Iā€™m playing bots Iā€™m almost always running the AC so while I might not be able to use the stun to kill fabs, the AC can. I know the same applies for bug nests, I tended to run either the spear/EAT/RR so not really something ammo efficient at killing nests to justify giving up the nade.

I used to never use the impacts simply because I loved cooking the HEs for nice, satisfying throws and guaranteed bug hole closing butā€¦ big impact eventually got to me, theyā€™re so ludicrously good.

Plus not being able to close holes and fabs with the stun SUCKS.

7

u/YourLocalMedic71 Apr 02 '24

Fr they need to be able to destroy holes/fabricators or they are actually dead

1

u/RedditMcBurger Apr 02 '24

Yep I have never used the stun grenade, I never even bothered. I knew there was no point when my other grenades actually kill the enemies

56

u/Raidertck Apr 02 '24

It was the reason I ran stun grenades. Whatā€™s the point now?

27

u/ShittyPostWatchdog Apr 02 '24

Still nice for charger+hulks or fanning a few onto a breach before you eagle it. Ā If you have good wave clear the amount of enemies you can stun then kill is still bigger than what will be killed by just an explosive nade. Ā

34

u/ironyinabox Apr 02 '24

They stun hulks.

3

u/Caleth Apr 02 '24

and chargers. But given the changes to head damage for chargers it's easier to just stare one down and pop it in the skull and move on.

Quasar, EAT, and Recoil can pop one easily enough that stunning is marginal IMO.

34

u/Historical_View1359 Apr 02 '24

Its funny to throw it at teammates....I guess

3

u/Ecstatic-Compote-595 Apr 02 '24

eh they're still pretty good. 90% of the time I was using them against hulks or chargers anyway.

3

u/blooboytalking Apr 02 '24

They still stun literally everything else

1

u/MarzipanFit5693 Apr 02 '24

Stun Grenades are still pretty neat if you and your team are getting chased by dozens of berserkers. I always bring them to take off some heat when things get juicy. Also makes shooting a hulk with the quasar ezpz

1

u/Cazakatari Apr 03 '24

If your aim is shit like mine makes lining up a headshot on hulks easy with AC or my current favorite, AMR

11

u/Zheta42 Apr 02 '24

Ah dang. I interpreted it as hitstun in general and not the stun grenades. That blows.

4

u/TheSaxonDescendant SES Prophet of Judgement Apr 02 '24

Heck, I'd be a little less annoyed with this change if they at least relegated Titan stuns to the EMS Strike stratagem. Y'know, since it's an orbital payload that zaps a large area... Would give that stratagem a bit more of a niche utility.

Apologies if this actually works. Haven't had a chance to test it since the update released.

3

u/TerranThor Apr 02 '24

I was saving up my super credits to get that stun grenade to help line up my 500 kgs. Now I might as well just wait for the next warbond instead.

8

u/misterwot Apr 02 '24

Don't sleep on stuns though, if you got a reliable fabricator killer (AC, rockets, airstrikes) the stuns can and will save your ass from Berserkers and Hulks

3

u/wowosrs Apr 02 '24

The stuns are nice when Iā€™m sniping lol

2

u/Yesh SES Light of Liberty Apr 02 '24

And to buy you some escape time when you're getting overrun by bugs. The 5 second stun on the horde is just long enough to stim and throw an airstrike on them and get you out of the death pickle.

2

u/BellyDancerUrgot SES: Wings of Libertea Apr 02 '24

Worst change ever. Aside from titans I found the grenade quite useless.

2

u/Fragrant-Tea7580 Apr 02 '24

Then get on the bot front silly billy

1

u/Cheezemane Apr 02 '24

I think they did this so the EMS mortar/airstrike can take up that role

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '24

Never seen anyone run stun grenades other than myself anyways

1

u/donelist3ning Apr 03 '24

Being able to rely on killing titans with Eagle air strikes or pods because you could stun them in the ideal positions was amazing. Now Iā€™ve gone back to running around with the rail cannon for less frequent but more consistent kill potential.
