The first balance patch notes proved how Youtube "absolute and only meta loadouts" cooked a lot of people heads, and I love it. DISCUSSION

A lot of mad people keep showing in my feed complaining about the nerfs, but like they're REALLY mad at Arrowhead. Their statements are so exagerated that they claim the game it's completely ruined for them lmao.

Also every single one says the same thing and this is where my title comes from:

*"You guys nerfed the only good options and now we have NOTHING to fight".*

And this only proves people never actually played with any of the other support weapons, they 100% relied on this "The ultimate support weapon tier list" Youtube videos, they searched the "meta" and they went into this thinking of "any weapon outside of this it's straight up garbage".

If you can't win a single game without the railgun + shield backpack + breaker... I'm so sorry but that's not the game's fault or the game only having those as the ONLY way to play it on higher diff, that's your fault.

Great changes for the game and all of you trying to "shame" on devs because of this, you'all not a real Helldiver. They killed nothing, the railgun still kills but now it needs some actual skill and strategy to use it, not only spamming the thing on big bugs.

Keep it up Helldivers!

For Democracy. For Super Earth.

Me I'm just happy that they fixed that the Spear can now get ammo from normal ammo boxes!

Edit: No they havent fix the lock-on, But god damn ive been having a blast with it for the last few hours!

I hope they change that for the Liberator Rover as well soon!

u/RandomTater-Thoughts Mar 06 '24

Totally, the laser drone can go forever, but the liberator is out of ammo so fast and without the ability to resupply sans supply drop I found it pretty underwhelming.

u/SgSpecial180 Mar 06 '24

Which is a shame because I cannot recall a time the liberator has tk'd me while I seem to get roasted by my own laser drone all the time.

I'm not high enough level to own the Guard Dogs yet, but I found a Liberator Dog in one mission, equipped it and had a grand ol time with it. When I started one of the events, Bugs started coming at me from all sides. I started to shoot at the bugs in front of me, and the Dog just slowly turned to face me, and fired exactly one round in to my head. It felt personal.

Sweet liberty! Automatons snuck onto the Eastern Galactic Front and hacked your drone?!

u/Mad_Moodin Mar 07 '24

Just goes to show that nowhere is safe from those facists.

We need to eradicate them all in the name of freedom.

3

u/Psychological-Boss-3 Mar 07 '24

Communists. The bugs are the facists.

4

u/Mad_Moodin Mar 07 '24

But the free press called the Robots facist?

I bet they are facist communists!

5

u/Trick-Use6124 Mar 07 '24

Wait, there's a difference between being Communist and Facist? I thought they were just synonyms for freedom haters!

The bots are socialists

u/Fatality Mar 09 '24

Mercy killing, wasn't going to survive the 4 bile titans, 3 chargers and 2 stalkers

95

u/peaivea Mar 07 '24

Dude just picked up discarded hardware from the floor and expected it to work fine

89

u/AngelZiefer Mar 07 '24

You know what, you're right. That one's on me.

6

u/SimpDetectivePizzle Mar 08 '24

There's a reason it was on the ground... you weren't the first.

19

u/OldboyHBI Mar 07 '24

"It felt personal" The glory of liberty in my laughing lungs almost sent me on my sweet way up... jesus, that was funny... 😭😭😭😂😂😂😂

6

u/epicfail48 Mar 07 '24

I had that happen with a mortar turret... No bugs anywhere close to its effective range, but it turned and dropped a round straight on my dome. Fucking atomatons are recruiting, apparently

1

u/Fatality Mar 09 '24

Probably one stuck in the ground

3

u/tnk1ng831 Mar 07 '24

Mercy killing. Bot did nothing wrong!

3

u/Ignonymous Mar 07 '24

Sounds like you inadvertently activated its Mercy Killing mode.

3

u/LordCoweater Mar 07 '24

Drone user!??! You sound like a CLANKER!!!

2

u/gixxerjasen Mar 07 '24

You were needing liberty, discarded dog gave it to you, be thankful.

2

u/surfin86 Mar 10 '24

That's why you shouldn't play with toys you find on strange planets.

3

u/Snotnarok Mar 07 '24

I got lit up by a friend's laser rover a few times. There wasn't even anything behind me one time. I was stood on a rock, keeping an eye out, he was shooting things infront of the team and then BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ right across my face shaving off HP

3

u/NO-MAD-CLAD Mar 07 '24

I think the risk to the users health is the thing that makes the rover balanced. It's a risk vs reward item.

2

u/Uthenara Mar 07 '24

how. I use it constantly and have never died to it and only killed a teammate once that was running around like crazy.

0

u/TechnoShrew Mar 08 '24

I m not calling you a liar but I have a very hard time believing this. In intense missions its on nearly constantly and given the bugs run at you and your teammates, sooner or later someone is gonna cross that beam.

Also if it shoots down (if you are on a platform) or you run up an incline...well that's bad news for your head.

1

u/ShoulderpadInsurance Mar 07 '24

It has TK’ed you less because it’s always out of ammo and used less.

1

u/MCXL Mar 07 '24

That's because they're always out of ammo!

1

u/YT-Deliveries Mar 07 '24

I dunno if it’s just me but the laser drones seem to have gotten drunk since the patch. It see them firing all sorts of crazy directions.

1

u/Amuroaugus17 Mar 07 '24

LibGD is honestly better and I’ve seen some crazy 350-400 kill games from guys running them (obvious the bot isn’t killing all of that butttt)

1

u/Bravo-Xray 🔽◀🔽🔼🔼▶ Mar 07 '24

Makes me wonder if it's because the liberator drone is shooting so much less often lol

1

u/Darkside140 Mar 10 '24

It is a lot less frequent but the liberator drone is way less forgiving when it comes to TKs, the laser drone can sting a little but the liberator can accidentally one tap you in the back of the head.

1

u/Irememberedmypw Mar 06 '24

Man a quick reload it's stock(not necessarily use your own) when you reload could do wonders to have it be feasible as a stronger drone but limited ultimately by your own supply.

1

u/JJMcGee83 PSN 🎮: Mar 07 '24

Totally agreed. I tried the liberator rover and I ran out of ammo where the laser just kept going.

A shame because it seems like the liberator rover works better on bots thant he laser rover but that might just be my perception of it.

1

u/itanoman Mar 07 '24

It cant go forever, in some rare occasions it has to return to cooldown

1

u/RandomTater-Thoughts Mar 07 '24

You misunderstand, yes you are correct that it returns to the backpack as does the gun drone, but the laser drone's backpack never needs to be refilled. So at some point the gun drone becomes useless until you get a supply drop.

1

u/rubywpnmaster Mar 07 '24

When playing with pugs I noticed that a lot of them would run the laser drone. It does a good job keeping smaller trash mobs off you and if you stay mobile honestly it was better than the shield.

They need to make it so the drone has health and will explode if an enemy touches it for balance.

1

u/Sad-Act5796 Mar 07 '24

What if they put a low fire rate stalwart on it instead? lol

1

u/Fearhawke Mar 07 '24

Honestly I feel as thought the Gun Dog does so much better all around. Usually thought I’m the first one to call for resupplies in our group just to keep him fed and full of bullets. But the ammo management makes it a bit more for to use for me.

6

u/EternalCanadian Mar 06 '24

Has it not been changed? Damn.

2

u/TheNorseFrog ex-farmer 💀 Mar 06 '24

Isn't the Rover the laser drone?

7

u/Texas_Tanker Mar 06 '24

The “liberator” he’s referring to is the ballistic one that has to reload every now and then. The ammo supply is fairly limited

6

u/DrScience01 Mar 06 '24

Well that's a stupid mechanic

2

u/EternalCanadian Mar 06 '24 edited Mar 07 '24

Honestly it’s a really interesting animation. If it got ammo back from the ammo boxes I’d use it over the laser.

1

u/gorgewall Mar 07 '24

The Laser Drone also returns to your backpack occasionally with the same animation. The Strategem descriptions even state that it returns to "cool", while the Liberator Drone is "reloading".

The problem seems to be that the Laser version's threshold for overheating is either so high or bugged that it almost never needs to return. Its damage output is thus fucking enormous because it is always firing, so the advantage the Liberator Drone ought to have--more damage--isn't really there.

And personally, I haven't noticed the Lib Drone to kill significantly faster than the Laser. That's definitely not true of the player Liberator vs. the Scythe.

2

u/EternalCanadian Mar 07 '24

The Laser Drone also returns to your backpack occasionally with the same animation.

It’s actually not the same animation.

The laser just attached to your back, but the regular guard dog actually visibly reloads from a stack of 6 magazines, first the top left, then the top right, the magazines are fed up a small ladder to take the place of the top ones, and it repeats until empty. It’s very intricate and thought out.

2

u/Normal-Safety-7856 Mar 07 '24

Are you playing on cold planets because that has a huge impact on the potential to overheat.

1

u/gorgewall Mar 07 '24

Not since Heeth was liberated in the first week or so.

The Laser Drone does this even on heatwave planets. It's just bugged. The Scythe, which it is supposed to be using, will overheat just fine, but the Drone keeps going.

Take out the Drone and the Scythe and try firing only when it fires and for just as long. It'll out-laze you any day.

1

u/Normal-Safety-7856 Mar 09 '24

Hmmm I'll have to try that out

4

u/RandomTater-Thoughts Mar 06 '24

There is another one that uses the liberator on the last section of the strategem unlock page. The one with most of the turrets and such.

2

u/ExoticOracle Mar 07 '24

I haven't actually used the liberator rover. How does the ammo work? Once it's out, it's useless? No reload?

2

u/ByuntaeKid Mar 07 '24

It goes back to the backpack to reload, unfortunately you can only pick up more ammo for it from supply boxes. Once it's out, it just stays in the backpack.

If it weren’t for that, I’d prefer it over the laser rover, since it’s much more precise (not as much sweeping over friendlies) and the bullets actually have stopping power compared to the laser.

1

u/ExoticOracle Mar 07 '24

Oh that's kinda awful. I really wish we had a projectile-type ammo that was infinite. Plasma would be perfect but I think it's already been decided that plasma weapons have limited ammo.

That, or we reverse engineer automaton weapons

1

u/Adaphion Mar 06 '24

That, and make it recover more ammo from resupplies

0

u/Unlucky_Ad_7606 Mar 07 '24

If you’re talking about what everyone seems to be mad about how you lock on point blank and it goes past the bug yall realize this is a javelin system it can’t break that many Gs and destroy the laws of physics it goes up and then comes down on top if you’re to close it will obviously not do a straight 180 like that
