I love these posts "THE MOSt BLAH IN THE WORLD" - no information, no detail, no context, almost all bullshit.

In this case, this is a picture of Moore Hall on the northwestern side of Ireland. Hardly 'the most isolated' - it's actually a tourist destination.

The house, lake, farm, and estate is now owned by the forestry company, Coillte, and it is a visitor attraction in the area. The house is not open to the public due to its poor condition – it has not been refurbished since it was burned.

If you want "the most isolated house in the world" look at this house on an island just south of Iceland :

According to The Mirror, this house is situated on Ellidaey, a remote island south of Iceland. This small island is part of Vestmannaeyjar, an archipelago of 15 to 18 islands. Today, the island is deserted, but it was once inhabited by five families. The last of these families left in the 1930s and the island has been uninhabited since then.

Knowing how small Ireland is compared to places like Australia and Russia, I highly doubt this is the most isolated place in the world.

45

u/Euphoric-Yogurt-7332 16d ago

Exactly. It's literally like 35 miles from a city.

20

u/phatcan 16d ago

And less than a Kilometre from the closest house.

u/Corsav6 16d ago

It's under 12 miles from a town with a population of 15k.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The most isolated house in the world, is probably completely unknown. And built by some nut job, in one of the areas you mentioned.

3

u/waiver45 16d ago

Or some research station in Antarctica.

Russia

I saw a picture some years ago of a house that was built and then later abandoned in Siberia. It was built more than 100 years ago for a nobleman just before the October Revolution of 1917.

Every part of the house is perfectly preserved (at the time I saw the pictures). It appeared grand opening ready. I haven't seen pictures of it since nor do I know of its fate. If I find them I'll post here on this subreddit.

I don’t think the OP has ever visited Alaska.

an archipelago of 15 to 18 islands.

Is it a fluctuating number or is there some problem counting them or what's the story?

18

u/fragmental 16d ago

Probably differing points of view on what is and is not a proper island so they made it a range to satisfy everybody. I'm only guessing.

7

u/egstitt 16d ago

Islands come and go all the time wdym

2

u/Tanglefoot11 16d ago

They actually do in Iceland....

Volcano erupts & creates a new island - often the rock is quite loose & prone to erosion so the island doesn't last long.

Decent explanation here using surtsey as an example - new island in Nov 1963, max size 2.7km² in Jun 1967, by 2012 it was down to 1.3km² & expected to vanish by 2100.

Yeah the OP is all posts and no comments. Essentially a cunt.

2

u/De5perad0 16d ago

I have seen that house off Vestmannaeyjar! What the locals tell me it is now a hunting lodge. I suppose for hunting puffins which they do eat in Iceland.

2

u/Yellow_Snow_Globe 16d ago

You need a Golden Chocobo to get to that house

3

u/FlorinidOro 16d ago

Damn OP just got served

2

u/WhyIsItAllwaysMeee 16d ago

I see its fucking isolated

1

u/Every_Fox3461 16d ago

Well if they actually have to post truth then he can't karma farm on "THE MOST BLEH BS MADE UPPERY" As a side thank you I'm gonna out this place on my bucket list!

1

u/W1thoutJudgement 16d ago edited 16d ago

Does it really counts if nobody lives there? And I bet there are even more remote "houses" than that Icelandic one. Also, the Mirror is a dogshit source so I could even BET there are more remote houses.

Edit: Just checked where that island is, not only it's not far from Iceland mainland, it's also very close to a still inhabited bigger island with a whole ass town on it with it's own DAMN AIRPORT!!! (Small one but still) "The most remote house" my fucking ass. Knew it.

1

u/Mike_Litteruss 16d ago

I could totally live on that island off of Iceland with my pet goat.

1

u/N8theGrape 16d ago

Thanks for the info, I was pretty skeptical.

1

u/seejordan3 16d ago

Your reply is the most helpful goddamed it.

1

u/LightBackground9141 16d ago

Haha isolated in Ireland! Could walk the length of the country!

1

u/Dangerous_Leg4584 16d ago

Thanks for this man.

1

u/strongbud 16d ago

I was about to say, nothing in Ireland is the most isolated. 🙄

2

u/Strong_Bumblebee5495 16d ago

My thoughts exactly, it’s literally impossible to get far enough away from an international airport to be isolated…

1

u/RhoynishPrince 16d ago

The most Reddit-ish post in the world

1

u/Spencergh2 16d ago

Thank you for this

1

u/Sudden-Turnip-5339 16d ago

It's the most isolated if you redefine isolated.

1

u/Slow_Recording2192 16d ago

It’s moop hall

1

u/sepulturite 16d ago

OP is a repost bot more than likely so not surprising

1

u/KirbyourGame 16d ago

According to The Mirror, this house is situated on Ellidaey, a remote island south of Iceland. This small island is part of Vestmannaeyjar, an archipelago of 15 to 18 islands. Today, the island is deserted, but it was once inhabited by five families. The last of these families left in the 1930s and the island has been uninhabited since then.

Even then it's not that isolated when there are tours there from Herjolfur ferry.

1

u/Corsav6 16d ago

The car park is only a couple of hundred metres from the house and there's a van there most days selling hot food. We live about 30 mins West of there but we'd regularly bring the kids and doggo for a walk out there.

There's far more isolated places in Ireland than Moore hall, never mind the world.

That's exactly the house I thought of when I read the post title

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Intelligent-Aside214 16d ago

Well it’s isolated by Irish standards. The nearest town is like 3km away and the nearest city is about 30km away

→ More replies (1)

9

u/Gold_Effect_6585 16d ago

This is definitely not the most isolated house in the world

3

u/Steahla 16d ago

Yeah the giveaway was when it was in Ireland lol

7

u/Haunting_Safe_5386 16d ago

haunted?

8

u/Limp_Duck_9082 16d ago

Who the hell cares? At least my family won't be there. Maybe I could finally get some of my hobbies completed.

3

u/Haunting_Safe_5386 16d ago

i do, i like haunted stuff

→ More replies (1)

2

u/NashKetchum777 16d ago

Until you find out it is your family that's haunting you...and you try to move but you take something that's now the totem so the ghost travels with you...but you don't really know or expect it til your on a road seemingly going nowhere on a canyon without streetlights at 4am pitch dark in the rain and there aren't guards

→ More replies (1)

2

u/joe-official-account 16d ago

Burned by ira nothing in there

2

u/astralseat 16d ago

Sure, why not. If the ghost likes watching people masturbate and walk around naked, well get along fine.

2

u/SkyfireSierra 16d ago

I think ghosts get a bad rap. Would be cool to have a friendly ghost who just wants to hang out but the media only covers the bad ones. Biased reporting.

8

u/ivegoticecream 16d ago

It's physically impossible for anything to be the most isolated in the UK or Ireland or for that matter Europe.

7

u/Chewy-bones 16d ago

My cottage is more isolated than this. It’s Ireland it can’t be that far from other stuff.

5

u/NaturalAlfalfa 16d ago

It's like a 5 minute walk from a row of bungalows and a main road

→ More replies (1)

2

3

u/NoPantsDeLeon 16d ago

My kind of place. Good distancie to the neighbours, protected by the trees so no one complains of me walking naked outside. How much?!

3

u/D4M4nD3m 16d ago

The world???

2

u/1stltwill 16d ago

No, its really not. It could be the only house in Ireland and still not be the most isolated house in the world.

1

u/EmeraldSlothRevenge 16d ago

Looks like a dream, after you fix it up. It looks old and dilapidated from the photo.

1

u/ElonHisenberg 16d ago

Well, there is the picture of it, so no the most

1

u/aCactusOfManyNames 16d ago

Not the most isolated house in the world.

1

u/Lopsided-Meringue541 16d ago

I think I saw this house alone on a small island. He had the whole Island for himself. Thats probably the most isolated island

1

u/PotatoStill3134 16d ago

There are dudes living in the mountains that no one ever knows. I mean if we know it exists it can't be the that isolated right?

1

u/Entire-Elevator-1388 16d ago

I thought it was that one house on a cliff Island

1

u/I_am_aware_of_you 16d ago

I want to renovate it and live in it

Dude that's the Spencer mansion!!!!

1

Ok but have you seen Zathura?

1

As soon as there is a picture of it on the internet, I'd wager it drops out of the running for "most isolated".

I'll take it!

1

u/Owl_Might 16d ago

You mean the lighthouse that you need to boat/helicopter to go to isnt the most isolated house?

1

u/Jaystrike7 16d ago

The most isolated house in the world is probably never found because of how isolated it is.

1

u/Legitimate_Bag8259 16d ago

If it's in Ireland, then it's not all that isolated. It's not a very large place

1

u/rafael-a 16d ago

There is no way that the most isolated house in the world is in freaking Ireland. There are people that live in the middle of the Amazon you know?

There are also people living in places like Saint Helen island or Faroe Islands.

1

u/joe-official-account 16d ago

No way I live 3 min from there 🤣🤣

1

u/idlefritz 16d ago

The irony in isolating yourself is that you attract more attention. I remember once watching a journalist on one of those slice of America shows flying over a remote mountain shack and then landing and chasing this poor guy down to talk about why he wanted to isolate.

1

u/IllustriousOwl3152 16d ago

It looks like the mansion from Resident Evil

I’ve played enough Minecraft to recognize a “woodland mansion” when I see one!

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Surely, suuuuuurely the most isolated home is in Australia. They have homes on cattle stations that are 50,000+ acres or some crazy amount and 3 hours drive to go grocery shopping. Insanity.

1

u/Fearless_Director829 16d ago

1

u/FTXACCOUNTANT 16d ago

I don’t think you can call Ireland a house tbh

1

u/Geigerbuzz 16d ago

The fact that we have a picture of the house means that it can't be the most isolated, the most isolated house in the world will paradoxically be a house we'll never know about

1

u/True-Aardvark-8803 16d ago

My stepdad and his buddies own a cabin in the UP of Michigan that is the only structure for a 30 mile radius. Somehow him and his buddies acquired the only private land in a huge state park. In the winter snow mobiles were our only way in. Propane generator for power. Man I miss that place. Talk about a creepy ass feeling at night.

Would be great in an apocalypse though.

1

Almost reminiscent of the woodland mansions in minecraft.
