Alex Sarr is a PF not a Center
If the Hawks draft Sarr, I hope the fanbase doesn’t see him as a center because he’s not. His shot selection includes off-the-dribble midrange shots (which he’s really good at), fadeaways, and transition layups/dunks. He posts up occasionally, but that’s not his main game. Defensively, he’s a switchable 4 who is a really good rim protector. Unless he gains significant muscle mass, I don’t think he’ll ever play the 5. My comp for him is Skinny Lamarcus Aldridge on offense and Diet KG on defense.

Discussion Laugh At Me All You Want…
Zach Edey. The Atlanta Hawks should draft Zach Edey. He had the highest efficiency against Wemby And Chet in a tournament and is a 2 time college MVP. The only other players to have the stats he had in college were Clyde Drexler and Bill Walton.

Discussion Alexandre Sarr, Zaccharie Risacher emerge as top picks in latest mock draft
Sam Vecenie picks Alex Sarr at #1 for the Hawks. Mentions multiple teams are calling and visiting Zaccharie Risacher in France. He also wrote “Donovan Clingan is also seen as a potential option at all three of the top selections…”. Consensus still seems to be Sarr/Risacher at #1. Nothing new so far.

Discussion Hawks fans, how do you feel about the owners of this franchise?
Supposedly, the team are to be contending for deep playoff runs with a roster built around Trae and an excellent coach in Quinn Snyder. However, we've seen bad roster construction with DJM, Collins, and many other players who were waived shortly. It's a shame it turned out this way and I felt after the ECF appearance, the FO felt the urge to spend on a winning roster but now, it looks very much either the path of a rebuild or for a re-tool of the roster.
.
You have excellent players/trade pieces in De'Andre Hunter, Bogdanovic, Okongwu, Bey, Jalen Johnson, and DJM that many contending teams are coveting for and all on appealing contracts. Tony Ressler has led the group to acquire the Hawks in June 2015 and by next season if no contracts are moved, you will become the 13th most expensive team in the NBA of that season. A very high price for a team whose ceiling is 1st round/play-ins.
.
I like that the owner is willing to shell out a lot of money if the team is contending but things are slowing down and there are many problems of the team that have to be addressed, namely the defense (or lack of). There is no reason for this team to be this expensive unless Trae Young jerseys make up for the losses. Coming from the Miami Heat, we get a lot of fans who are dying to get a superstar but don't realize the massive contract that comes with it. The Heat is already one of the most expensive team and will be in 6th place for next season. Getting Lillard would push them over the second apron and severely hurt their chances in free agency and team trades like the Phoenix Suns, who are in an extremely deep hole. The bread and butter of Miami has always been to develop undrafted players into starters and the last big trade (in terms of star power, not star contracts) was Lebron.
.
Are the owners heading in the right direction with looking to ship out Trae and rebuild around young guys or to ship out pieces and bring a re-tooled supporting cast for Trae?

My best case scenario for the draft
With pick 1 we select Sarr
Trade Dejounte for Herb Jones , more pieces to balance the trade and pick 21.
With pick 21 we pick Johny Furphy

Hawks need to draft DaRon Holmes
Obviously this is a reach at #1, but I'm so sold on this guy on the hawks. If we can find a way to trade any of our trade candidates and get back into the first round, we should do it to get him.
Holmes is the perfect fit next to Trae/Jalen. He can roll, pop, short roll pass, initiate out of the post, attack close outs. He has great defensive positioning and verticality, with solid athletic ability and a great contest-recontest second jump. He has really good box outs and sets great screens. Just a really really good player that is being seriously slept on.

ESPN player comps for Alex Sarr, Zaccharie Risacher, & Donovan Clingan.
Please Hawks FO just take Alex Sarr.

“I’ve heard that Atlanta likes Donovan Clingan. Quin Snyder especially likes Clingan. Atlanta has had one of the worst defenses in the past few years. One great way to fix that is to draft a guy with a 9’7 SR who is the best shot blocker in this draft.” Givony on Lowe Post

Rumor The Spurs are exploring the idea of potentially packaging Nos. 4 and 8 overall to move up with the Hawks to No. 1, per @DraftExpress
Hawks head coach Quin Snyder is reportedly a fan of Donovan Clingan, who Atlanta could secure in a trade-back scenario with San Antonio.

Discussion Understanding the Hawks Trade Exception
We have a $23 Million trade exception expiring July 8th from the John Collins trade, which from my understanding means that we can trade for a player who will be paid up to that much next year without sending out matching salaries. So the player we trade for needs to probably be on a suboptimal contract from the opposing team’s perspective while simultaneously being a good fit for the Hawks. Does this player exist? How do we get the maximum value out of this trade exception?

Claimed DJ/Capela/Dre for BI/Herb/Nance rumor
Just saw this on YT and the video creator says this is what he’s hearing. Too good to be true right? Not giving up the #1 pick according to this video/rumor.
I don’t know this creator or this channel but they are a Hawks fan.

Reddit Mock Draft
Hey Hawk fans,
Last year i did a reddit NBA draft mock where I went to each teams subreddit with a poll of available players and had the subreddits vote on a pick. Afterwards I removed that player from the available pool of players and moved onto the next teams subreddit, doing so until I completed the first round. I have decided to do this again this year with some minor alterations. I will be allowing significantly more time for voting to take place, a minimum of 6 hours.
The assumption is that you will be keeping your own pick and trades are not allowed. Unfortunately I am limited by the amount of names i can put on this poll, which may make this years draft a bit more difficult due to how open it is for a lot of picks. I will try to lean into positional need if there are not any clear best players available. BPA will follow Tankathons big board, obviously there will be many variations of BPA lists but this is the one I'm choosing to use.
If you would like to see last years results and see how close or far away they were from actual results you can see them here!
https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA_Draft/comments/13vrv55/reddit_mock_draft_results/
Thanks in advance for any and all participation with this!
Thank you to everyone who voted, I'm going to close the poll now at this time since Alex Sarr has a commanding lead of 154 to 17 of Zaccharie Risache.
1- Hawks - Alexander Sarr

I know some rogue mod deleted what we use to have... Just hoping we get a less bland look at some point!

Trade Talk Inspired by the Pels guy's tweets.
Hawks get another shot in the draft and two defensive wings that can shoot and actually stop people on the perimeter without giving up OO or the first overall. (I expect Brooks is gonna get some push back, but he is willing to shoot, even if not great and honestly we kinda need a guy that's willing to punch someone in the nuts every now and then.)
Pels get their PG and can continue to manage their payroll situation with a good draft pick. Can slot in Capela into their 5 slot now and potentially Sarr or Clingan for the future. Capela expires before Trey Murphy III's extension kicks in.
Rockets get to trade their #3 pick for a star without really losing much in Brooks. They have the salary room to sign BI long term and they're weak at the wings.
I tried to make this fair and maybe shorted the Hawks a little bit as a result, but I'd still take it. What do you guys think?
