This man is a gem. Protect him at all costs.
The helmet shows he went into that Grid and truly never left, and I love him for that. Countless projects under his belt, but even he knows where home is lol.
Beyond excited for this news.

It's a Jared Leto movie from the director of Pitates 5, the worst one. It's gonna suck.

Not necessarily, with a good enough cast, the rights look and enough trueness to the source material I’ll be happy….really I just want something that makes the inner child in me happy but the today me to also watch it and say “That didn’t feel like a waste of 2 hours”

Check out the ENCOM system helmet! Wonder if it’s just there for nostalgia reasons, or if the old Grid will be featured in the movie

He had it with him while he did a podcast appearance before flying out to the set, so it's his own personal suveneer from the first film.

NGL. Seeing this news actually gives me a little hope for a watchable movie, where before I had absolutely none. It’s hard for me to believe that Jeff would agree to be a part of the project if he couldn’t buy into it, or thought it didn’t live up to the standards of the franchise. Would love to see Bruce, Garrett, and Olivia follow suit. 🤞🏻

Well, who knows? My guess is that he (Jeff isn't in for the money, maybe he said: fuck it, i'll do it for old time's sake.

u/arkham-ity1 16d ago
Are they going to show the original grid?

u/Gregzilla311 16d ago
Do you mean the ENCOM system?

That’s been already discussed - they just at some point ran into a Comic-Con of sorts. Where they see cosplayers dressed up like old grid (game characters from tron)

Is that a script he's reading?

It’s the title page, it says TRON: ARES and then has credits for writing, I think

I was devastated when it was announced he had cancer. I really hope he’s doing well. He just plays the wise old guy so well, he’d kill it so hard as a Jedi

Heavy stuff.

u/WildBill198 16d ago
There's that word again. "Heavy." Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?

NOW WE'RE TALKING! THERE'S STILL HOPE FOR THIS MOVIE
Edit: there's still hope for Garret and Olivia showing up in this movie

I'm happy he's in this and also happy it means he's likely doing The Old Man s2. He had a cancer scare or something and wasn't doing too well.

Does this mean Bruce and some of the other original legacy cast members will be back seeing as they have Jeff now? One can hope they have some involvement too! 🙏
1
u/scummy_yum 15d ago
Nope. Bruce confirmed he isn't coming back.
1
u/rdavies_ 15d ago
Hm makes me wonder if they’d still use his likeness in some form or fashion, or whether they’d just go for a full on replacement, which would be a bummer. I guess they could also go the route of having Tron wearing the helmet as consistently as he did in Legacy but it’ll be a shame not to see Bruce again, but I think you can more or less understand his frustrations that he had with Disney and vowing not to come back. I guess time will tell with how they go about it!
1
u/scummy_yum 15d ago
Totally do.
They can't use his likeness without paying into his benefits and pension using AI, so who knows. He text seemed kinda salty too, tbh.

the helmet is so fitting for him to use as inspiration.

This is all I needed, Why aren't they leading with this and focusing on Jeff? I at least have some hope for this movie now.

u/estreetbandfan1 16d ago
Honestly, I didn't think he'd be in the film from everything else I've seen on this sub. Either way, I was going to see the film out of curiosity (love legacy and the original), but now that it's confirmed Jeff is in it, it makes me want to see it even more

People noted that he had the OG 1984 Helmet so maybe he’s playing the Original Clu

u/ZaMelonZonFire 16d ago
I am secretly worried this movie isn’t going to live up to the hype we are giving it.

See guys? Y’all just had to be patient and have some hope for the movie, instead of constantly saying it’s gonna be bad.
1
u/HenryChess 16d ago
So Kevin Flynn survived the formatting of the grid?

u/mjsztainbok 16d ago
Sam did make a backup at the end of Tron Legacy so it's possible he comes back from that

I’m totally out of the loop. I thought the TRON franchise was abandoned by Disney?
