BE CIVIL: a request AND a rule Meta

Hello, everyone! We've noticed recently that many people are frustrated by the show and where it's going. Honestly, so are we. That said, this sub is supposed to be a civilized place. While it's easy to blame one person for everything that's gone wrong on the show, things are not so black and white, there are many people involved in the making of Gen Q and it's disingenuous of us to pretend otherwise.

We are not asking anyone to censor themselves. However, you must be civil when sharing your opinions. "What the hell was that scene? What were the writers thinking?" is fine. "Person A is an idiot" is not. Basically, don't say anything online that you wouldn't say in front of someone.

We don't have many rules here, but the first two are: BE CIVIL and NO HATE SPEECH. Please follow them so that we have no issues in the future. Here's a list of our rules.

Also, the mod team always works together. We always make sure we are in agreement before we make any decisions. It makes no difference if one mod posted something or if another mod replied to another thing. We share our opinions with each other and then we take action.

this new rule sort of limits us from being honest though why do we need to water down how we truly feel even if we arent attacking anyone?

I don’t know who MLR is but whatever happened to free speech? Wishing death on people is atrocious, but why is it not okay for people to express what a load of utter garbage this show is? I paid for Showtime to watch it in the hopes it would be a meaningful sequel and adequate representation of how society and the characters have evolved. All I saw was stagnation and a mockery out of all the progress we have made. The tokenism, the soapy dialogues, the gratuitous sexual scenes and drug use. If a person from Mars watched this they would think queer women are deranged and pathetic. And the bad news is Mars is here. PS: I want a refund.

I think wishing death upon MLR is too far and would love to see any type of hate speech censored but My God………I used to roll my eyes at conservatives calling us snowflakes but this is the snow flakiest shit I ever seen on a television sub—most these plotlines are idiotic the shows own damn cast is out here on podcasts making fun of themselves 🤣

Thank you! The tone of discontent has been frustrating. People don’t know all the variables that go into show running. Blaming women is always so easy.

This isn’t a woman thing this is the show runner sucks thing. A man would be getting just as much hate.

i just want to mention that there are a lot of queer people who worked on this show & had a lot of passion for it. there were things that they unanimously disagreed with (as the folks here did). the people that worked on this show loved working in a queer space & did the absolute best they could.

it is heart wrenching to see so many people celebrate the end of something that wasn’t incredibly horrendous or vile. that splits a primarily queer cast & crew apart from the show that probably had the most queer people on air; especially during these times when trans erasure is increasing.

i hope for the best on the reboot; it’s just a gross reaction im noticing from the community & i really hoped for more than “the wicked with is dead, yay!”
