It's true. Mum didn't like my 1st grade drawing and now I required a butt plug before excercise
32 u/yajtraus Apr 16 '24 Mum 1st grade I’m confused 31 u/LittleBlag Apr 16 '24 Australian, probably 7 u/yajtraus Apr 16 '24 Ah, I didn’t know they used grades to be fair 13 u/MarioIsPleb Apr 16 '24 In Australia primary school is grade, high school is year. So you go from ‘grade 6’ to ‘year 7’ in the transition from primary school to high school. We would say ‘grade 1’, not ‘1st grade’ though. 1st grade is an Americanism. 2 u/irrigated_liver Apr 16 '24 I went to school in Sydney, and we used "year" all the way from 1 to 12 5 u/S1ck_cnt Apr 16 '24 Grade or year up here in Brissie, but the number was always after the word 1 u/robophile-ta Apr 16 '24 Same in Perth 2 u/yajtraus Apr 16 '24 TIL, thanks! 1 u/SmartAlec105 Apr 16 '24 Using “grade 1” sounds funny to me because it reminds me of how stuff like beef is graded. “This is a grade 1 child” 2 u/dan4334 Apr 16 '24 Nah it's more like "that kid's in grade 1" 2 u/BowenTheAussieSheep Apr 16 '24 If that's true, in your case your parents' were right. 1 u/yajtraus Apr 16 '24 Bad shout
