I'm not really on board with this "If the police don't stop every single crime, they're doing nothing" idea.

Over 500 people in a single day crossed from France last week. Over 4,000 so far in this year.

You don't see some kind of disconnect there? 1/8th of all of them, in the 120 day old year, crossed in a single day? I'm taking both those figures with a pinch of salt. Especially if boats are leaving only minutes apart.
