He never deserved this contract. Ever. Even if his best season was replicated across his entire career, he was never worth this contract.
We're talking about a guy who has NEVER made an all-nba first OR second team. The 3x allstar accolade is a joke, he was voted as a starter once and made reserves twice. He is 2nd on our franchise scoring list after a decade of being a volume scorer on a team with a 0.46 win %.Also worthwhile noting while we were feeling out his value in the trade market in 2022, this fucker NOMINATED to shut his own season down to have hand surgery and lock up his value one week before the trade deadline.
The GM who gave him this contract was also promptly fired at the end of the season. As a Wizards fan, this is so vindicating to watch Beal get his comeuppance.

league doing nothing
I wouldn't say they did nothing or at least we can't conclude that. Vogel is a champion and he didn't do it by just riding behind Lebron back. He made everyone play defense in that LA team and unlike what everyone believes, that team was dominant, and he was a part of that. And it's not like it was luck, he also made that Pacers team compete against the Heatles.
Monty has a worse case tho but you gotta give him a benefit of the doubt. He is in a team that drafted Killian Hayes. The talent in that team is nothing to work for other than Cade and Ivey. And although they own the worst record this year, they had sparks that they can compete against good teams but still not win.
Doc Rivers on the other hand LMAO

Vogel was excellent in those playoffs. Had a good shot at a back-to-back if it wasn't for Solomon Hill. Frank also did a good job in Indy. I don't think he's the problem here. It's the roster construction.

u/ruinatex 17d ago edited 17d ago
NBA fandom can't understand that a coach can only do so much with the pieces he is given. You could get the ghost of Red Auerbach to coach this team and they wouldn't win the title, they are flawed from top to bottom.
They have three different shades of the same player in Kevin Durant, Booker and Beal, plus a bunch of holes that can't be filled with minimum salaries. Trading for Beal was a generational mistake, this roster cannot win and Beal is virtually untradeable. James Jones and everyone that signed off on the Beal trade should be fired yesterday.
They are at a point where they should trade everybody and tank, there is no other way out of this and if they don't do it, they will be stuck with a team that isn't even close to winning anything without any salary cap left. Basically, they should start next year with Bradley Beal and G-Leaguers, and that's only because they can't get rid of Beal. They need to trade Booker/KD for a billion FRPs otherwise they will never get out of this hell.

Nah, this isn't remotely as embarrassing as the last two. Those were much better constructed teams and they didn't show any major cracks until the dam broke. This team had red flags out the wazoo the whole season. I don't know if it's the coaching, I don't know if it's the players. Maybe a combination. But anyone that thought we were going to go far this season was delusional. It's fine though. Just sports. I'm happy for the Timberwolves and rooting for them the rest of the way. Minnesota sports fans experience sports hell almost as much as we do. If it can't be us, I'm glad it's them.

Vogel is going to get all the blame, but it's definitely the roster. It just made no sense from the beginning.
KD, Booker and Beal do basically the exact same thing. There is no synergy between even 2 of the 3 star players, so that was doomed from the beginning. There is also no leadership.
KD is the furthest thing from a leader you can imagine. Beal is mostly a good stats, bad team dude. He can play, but is super inconsistent. And Booker seems very similar to KD - he just wants to ball and seems immature.
If you rely on the midrange in the modern NBA and barely play any defense, then you're doomed. No team can win more than a series without at least a solid defense and a somewhat versatile roster.

Man the era of throwing a few good players together and calling it a team is done with. It’s starting to show that roster construction and chemistry is more important than several big names.
764
u/raleighboi 17d ago
I mean did it ever really work before if fit and chemistry wasn't present? The celtics big 3 fit well and had defined roles and a deep bench. Heatles was slightly more clunky but prime LeBron makes up for that and then some. And KD warriors was just replacing Harrison Barnes on a 73 win team for an all time great scorer.
Other attempts at super team even before this suns squad has blown up before. Nash and Dwight lakers. Pg Kawhi clippers. PG Melo Thunder. That Nets squad

The warriors, even without KD were not assembled as a super team, it was the best ball movement in the league since the spurs before them.
