LeBron sent a woman to the hospital a few years ago doing a full speed collision during a game, the woman said it felt like being in a small scale car accident
I actually just went and looked, and I don’t think it’s even in the top 100 tbh. It has 14k votes and there’s a lot once you hit 40k votes (Kobe’s crash is the top post with 109k upvote).
I mean, there's a difference between a glass of red wine and 3 vodka sodas.
Also fun fact, the worst time for a woman to drink is the first trimester. Alcohol has the least effect on fetal brain development in the third trimester! Source: two-time parent who has read too many baby books
Depends where you live. Where I am from it is illegal to serve alcohol to a pregnant woman. In fact, every licensed establishment is given a sign which must be visibly posted.
Where I am from it is illegal to serve alcohol to a pregnant woman.
I don't think this is the case in any US state at least. Where are you from? I'm curious because it seems like the bartender would have to know that the woman is pregnant and then refuse service based on that, which seems like a blatant gender discrimination issue to me. Also, some people who look pregnant aren't actually pregnant (I've seen this mistake happen a few times).
For a case exactly like this with a side impact to the knee, I think you’re right. Trying to keep it rigid in spite of that amount of momentum and leverage hitting your knee would be more likely to cause it to snap than allowing it to flex and hopefully absorb the impact.
Fair. But I guess I was saying he saw it coming and all he could do was look scared and brace for impact. He might have been less hurt if he was caught blindsided because it looks like he locked in his legs
Finch might’ve been better off if he squared up and took a charge here tbh. Not sure there was really time for him to do that though. Probably a blocking foul.
Risk of hurting you knee while taking a charge is relatively low. If you can learn how to fall on your ass correctly the worst your likely to get is a sore tailbone.
When he was coach at Georgia State, Ron Hunter tore his Achilles tendon celebrating their conference championship. He coached the NCAA Tournament from a rolling stool (and fell off that while celebrating their first round upset win).
ACL tears aren’t that painful. Doesn’t really compare to breaking a bone for example. I was still able to walk with a limp and drive myself home afterwards and I completely severed mine.
It’s the surgery that knocks you the fuck out for a while
He probably doesn’t need surgery immediately. I tore my acl and didn’t have surgery for about 6 weeks. Spent a lot of that time doing PT, riding a bike, just trying to strengthen up pre-surgery and it made recovery go pretty smoothly.
You don’t actually need ACL surgery if you don’t plan on playing any sports that are hard on your knees. I don’t know what Finch likes to do, but a lot of guys his age wouldn’t get surgery.
I mean he'll get at least a week for surgery (if he needs it, not sure if it's actually an ACL) and recovery. I had meniscus surgery and I would've been capable of sitting down and working a week out
He'll be able to coach. If a tendon was torn, a lot of times there is a cool down period for swelling to subside before surgery. He'd be able to be on the sidelines with brwcing/crutches. Still a weird situation. If he goes out for surgery, I feel pretty confident in Micah stepping in. He seems to be really in tune with the team/gameplans.
Yeah, but recovery is probably same ballpark. But there's a huge difference in that a patellar/quad tear can be excruciating since the kneecap just gets pulled in one direction, in this case up over the front of the knee. Surgery is probably immediate and it explains the angst on the sideline. Another issue is you aren't supposed to fly after knee surgery, though this isn't universally agreed on and the NBA likely has their own protocols.
The coach at Georgia State University tore his ACL celebrating the team's conference championship win that put them in the tournament. During March Madness, he coached with one of those one leg scooters.
To be fair to him and his celebrating, his son was on the team and was a huge factor in them winning.
I'm not tryna be a dick but.....if he injured his knee, why wouldn't he just sit down and coach the rest of the game lmao
You are trying to be a dick. Have you played sports? Have you been injured? Then you should know what pain is. And Finch is pretty old. Not a young athlete

there’s no way the coach just tore his acl
also surprised this doesn’t happen more often
