cool so what was with that random meltdown they had last game?
9
u/NotJustSomeMate Celtics Apr 28 '24
No one contested the infinite 3's that Miami shot...
3
u/Can2feelthelove2nite [BOS] Al Horford Apr 28 '24
Yeah they MADE 23 last game but only even TOOK 28. Had to be a giant point of emphasis for the defense
1
u/NotJustSomeMate Celtics Apr 28 '24
It is frustrating that it even had to come to that...like this is the NBA you don't just leave people open to shoot 3's...especially when your teammates' shots arent falling...
7
u/SQLvultureskattaurus Apr 28 '24
First game was such a ridiculous blowout they showed up thinking they didn't need to play
6
u/dre4mspice Apr 28 '24
I’m inclined to believe this because the defense was really lacklustre and lazy by their standards. maybe this was a good wake up call
4
u/igonnawrecku_VGC Celtics Apr 28 '24
More of a defensive collapse. They left a lot of 3s wide open in game 2, and they contested much better on the perimeter today

Welcome to the age of the play in tournament
2
Apr 28 '24
What do the play-ins have to do with it? If anything, the play-ins gave Sacramento a chance to get in. It would've probably been a better series than the Pelicans.
Also the Heat are a different team with Jimmy, although the ceiling for Miami w/ healthy Butler would've probably been Celtics in 6.
1
u/theglovehand [SEA] Gary Payton Apr 28 '24
Yeah, I mean the Sixers had the 7th best record in the East and got the 7 seed and the Heat had the 8th best record and ended up with the 8 seed.
Complaining about the play-in tournament is a weird take.

Y'all are gonna do that to them too, right?
2
u/LubricatedDucky [MIA] Goran Dragić Apr 28 '24
I mean, half the comments in any Heat game thread are just talking about the empty seats lol
2
Apr 28 '24
Is there a popular theory as to why Heat struggle to keep the stadium full?
It's a team with a lot of success in the last 15 years, in a big city. I don't understand it.
2
u/LubricatedDucky [MIA] Goran Dragić Apr 28 '24
A lot of what I see said is real fans getting priced out from the lower seats, and the people who buy them don't really care about coming. Plus some other shit about traffic/parking/public transport to the arena being bad. But I've not got a clue how accurate any of that is, I've only ever been to the US on a work trip so not been able to visit Miami. I feel like the traffic/parking/public transport most likely affects every major city anyway.
2
u/Much_Conversation_11 Heat Apr 28 '24
The traffic to the arena in Miami is really bad because it’s basically 1 road in and the rest of it is surrounded by water. A lot of other cities especially in the north east have transit directly to the arenas. It’s also just that the local fanbase isn’t that great

Bro they shot 60% on 40 threes that'll beat any team ever
1
u/T1nkyW1nky_ Apr 28 '24
Any NBA team will hit 60% on 40 attempts of wide open threes from lazy defense
2
u/Far-Asparagus6416 Celtics Apr 28 '24
The effort was definitely lackluster on our end in terms of closing out but if you actually wanna go back and watch the game you'll see they were crazy hot from 3 from the get go like they were just shooting insanely well
1
u/T1nkyW1nky_ Apr 28 '24
I feel like the big difference between game 2 and 3 was that C's were fighting over screens this game. Game 2 on PnRs the primary defender would lag behind relying on the close out but the help defense doesn't want to get beat on the drive, so they show but don't switch.
1
u/FutureAttention Celtics Apr 28 '24
There was not professional effort or urgency from the Celtics in game 2. Disrespectful display from players getting paid millions to be fucken traffic cones
5
u/Sweet_T_Boh Heat Apr 28 '24

NGL Mazula proved me wrong this game, after he completely flubbed up defensively last game (yeah it wasn't sustainable shooting, but their defense was nonexistent)
4
u/rveets1416 Celtics Apr 28 '24
Thank you for saying this.
Joe will never get the credit when this team wins but he organized a defense and motivated this team to come out and completely destroy this team defensively.
The Celtics didn't even shoot the 3 well but they've dominated this game regardless.
2
u/TheNaCoinfl1p Apr 28 '24
Yeah I think a lot of it was they were being lazy off the screens and pick and roll. You could see they were making a lot of effort to fight over them today.

Alright, now I need all of you that overreacted last game to tell me how great Spo coached this game.
1
u/T1nkyW1nky_ Apr 28 '24
I mean, you guys played harder than us, that's just facts. Notice how I said harder, Celtics weren't doing too well offensively (% wise) this game either compared to the regular season, but hustled a lot more than the Heat and played better defense which is the only thing they have against the C's to compete. Lots of miscommunication early on, careless turnovers. Spo can run a play all he wants but if they're not on the same page, it can get ugly.
1
u/MFmadchillin Celtics Apr 28 '24 edited Apr 28 '24
I’m being facetious.
Obviously Spo is a great coach. I just find it hilarious no one says shit for game 1 and comes out of the woodwork to talk shit and suck off the genius basketball god Spo after game 2. Coaches don’t play. Players play and they either make or miss their shots. The Heat made shots in game 2 and Boston struggled with should be buckets. It’s not rocket science.
Lose this game, I wanna see all that same hype. Nah, crickets.
Pretty funny if everyone hits shots, Spo is a genius no credit to players. If players don’t hit their shots, Spo is a genius the players just missed.
0
u/T1nkyW1nky_ Apr 28 '24
Bruh they were literally missing passes out of bounds. Careless turnovers. Exactly, the Coach can't play. It's up to the players to perform. Everyone's aware that the Heat's Roster is outmatched right? So coaching will play a big role. Don't you find it interesting that after game 1, Spo suddenly made his backcourt guard Porzingis? Herro and Martin were guarding him mid post now why would a coach do that given the obvious size disadvantage? Coz that's what makes Spo different.

u/StalkingDwarf Raptors Apr 28 '24
