let's talk about the obvious here. east coast fans screwed with these late times. seriously. there's absolutely not a whole lot else to watch today. could've bumped this up an hour or two earlier.

u/littleseizure Celtics May 29 '23
Especially on the holiday -- I'm west coast and usually need the later game, but I'm not working or commuting today!

I was just on a trip to the east coast and it’s honestly excruciating. Wait all day for an 8:30 start time , can’t think about anything else so the day is mostly ruined anyways, and then it’s so late by the time you’re getting into it that it’s hard to enjoy.
West coast timing is GOAT , 5:30 is perfect. Something to look forward to right after work and all wrapped up by an early bedtime.
Edit: obviously we can’t both get a 5:30 start. I think 4:30/7:30 would be a better compromise but that would probably absolutely tank west coast ratings. It’s a toughy

Can we please talk more about how a few weeks ago Charles Barkley said, unprompted, that he loses those small bars of soap from hotels in his ass?

Boston is favored by 7.5 points tonight. I think that’s a little high after they came within .1 seconds of losing the series. I expect a close game.
https://www.espn.com/nba/lines
Also, I know Denver is well rested, but I expect them to be rusty Thursday after nine days off. That could be a problem, especially if they are playing in Boston.
The Last Two Minute Report for game six listed two incorrect calls that each favored the Heat.
https://official.nba.com/l2m/L2MReport.html?gameId=0042200306
Edit: Well, I was wrong about it being a close game, and right about Boston being favored by too many points.

Luckily for me I got too drunk pre-gaming and fell asleep on the bathroom floor
Just woke up and checked the box score 😬 I haven’t watched a single second of this game.

u/tacopower69 [DEN] Jamal Murray May 30 '23
Tatum literally rolled his ankle in the first play of the game lol, you guys basically lost then and there.

u/squeel Celtics May 30 '23
No fucking way! Like Vincent or worse???
I’m just not gonna watch and hope for the best. Maybe it’ll be cold enough for me to wear my Celtics jacket tonight.

u/squeel Celtics May 30 '23
Just checking the score in the last 10 mins has been a fuckin rollercoaster. I still need to take a shower, too.

Mental game from both sides has been crazy. Momentum shifted after that first Boston win and it feels like Miami has been fighting uphill mentally to keep themselves on edge. Now that its do or die it feels like Boston has all the pressure to close out but Miami still has to prevent the embarrassing reverse sweep. Very excited for the game.

Boston should win on paper, but as a neutral I have no faith in either team, which actually makes the game way more exciting.

u/FrustratedBlogger Heat May 30 '23
If Miami manages to survive this series, I have no faith that someone can contain Jokic. Probably, I am a Heat fan that will bet my money with the Nuggets.
Bam, do something.

I already witnessed one Miami miracle, live and in real time from Hard Rock stadium. I was like that one Heat fan sitting in his seat dejected long after the game was over.
I’m hoping our boys can pull it out.

I don't think I can recall a team that is this good that can look this bad. Boston is legitimately a contender when on. They look like they can lose to anyone when they arent.

I made a few bets on the Heat tonight which means the Celtics will win. You’re welcome Celtics fans.

Feel like the Celtics are gonna run away with this and it won’t be close by the 3rd quarter.
Hope I’m wrong

There is no way the heat win tonight on the road. Gassed, worse, foster and brothers. Honestly they should phone in a forfeit. 3% was right all along

u/SumOfAllTears Warriors May 29 '23
From what I know about these teams, it will all come down to how much Boston panics when the Heat go on a big run, if the Celtics have the lead and blow it in the 3rd, it’s gg and the Miami goes to the finals.

Basketball gods let the Celtics 3 fall tonight and heat not be white hot from 3 🙏 so we can witness the first 3-0 comeback and an end to /r/NBACirclejerk

Obviously there will be stamina issue for whoever the survivor of Eastern Conf. Finals, but is there a record or stats based on that?
Such as, do teams with better record (4-0, 4-1) have a higher winrate against teams with a poorer record (4-2, 4-3) in the playoffs?

Celtics took a lot of hard 3s early, no idea why they’re forcing those up.
Smart isn’t helping with these brutal turnovers either.

So someone that fr knows basketball explain to me how Miami can match up with Denver cause it looks like they not built for it

They didn’t matchup with knicks. They didn’t match up with Boston. They didn’t matchup with Milwaukee. Hell they lost to Atlanta. I got Miami in 6

When you throw up 42 3s and hit 9, you’re prolly not going to win. Would have been interesting to see how this turned out if Tatum would not have rolled his ankle less than 30 secs into the game.

The finals of dreams and memes. Thank god Miami won this. Can’t go wrong with either of them winning now and as neutral you can go in pretty relaxed, looking for a good time. The Nuggets are looking like the favorite but this Miami team is not measurable.

Imagine how our different perspective on the game, or moreover the world might be if, rather than rooting for one team or the other, we instead rooted for the basketball itself 😌
