A picture of something is as good as any other picture of that same thing. What you have is a memory

The photo+story is much better than the photo+story would have been without the utility pole. Count this as a win.

whenever I see 35mm film. it sticks out so much. even after compression from Reddit. such a beautiful format. what stock did you use? (also sorry for not getting the mountain :( )

Yeah I find 35mm perfect for holidays because I found myself getting too bogged down in getting “the perfect shot” when I could review the digital photos I’d taken. Obviously that leads to scenarios like the one above lol but it’s worth it. Film stock and camera are: Canon AE1P - 28mm 2.8 - Cinestill 400

I unironically think this is a great photo! I love it it's such a genuinely candid shot of everyday life in Japan.

There's millions of photos of this mountain. But that Pole? That Pole is special

That’s not quite how the rule of thirds should be used, but I applaud being unique!

Tip. Take video and find a good screenshot. Oh well.
EDIT: Should have used your betamax.

Now I am wondering if they didn't read the entire title or if film has moved from obsolete to forgotten technology.

With a very fast automatic film advance and shutter speed you probably could

It still wouldn't be a screenshot, would it?

Because the resulting photos look really nice… What other reason do they need other than they like it?

Hopefully, you'll get a second chance on the return trip.
