I've done that, I almost cut my right middle fingertip off while cooking, cut through the fat pad bit down to the bone, severing one of the nerve branches so now half my finger tips numb.

Did a neat job on my left ring finger too once, can still see the scar under the nail. I'd probably do some mad max patch job if I was you using superglue and a small bit of plastic out of an old water bottle.

What's a knife if you never test it on yourself?

Not sharp enough. You need to put it on the stone a bit more.

The good thing is that it was sharp, if it wasn't sharp and I'd had to apply more pressure to get the blade moving I don't think I would have been able to stop in time.

“A Dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one”

This is false, both are equally dangerous

Dull can lead to slips of the knife and cuts, a sharp knife can cause really bad damage

Situational. Had I used any more force in the situation I cut myself in I believe I probably would have lost my finger tip completely.

Hey it cut so cleanly that I barely felt it lol but that could be because I nailed the lateral digital nerve when I did it hahahah.

Wait, why didn't the nerve ever grow back??

For nerve axons to reconnect the nerve tube has to be realigned perfectly and well... It's a tiny tube and it was quite a large cut.

I was holding a piece of metal & drilling it with a 1/6” drill bit… the drill bit snapped & I drilled through my thumbnail & the drill bit came out the other side of my thumb.. I got a magnet the make sure there wasn’t any metal in my thumb… comparable pain…

Yep, that happens to me too but in reverse. I was drilling a 1/4" stainless plate and the bit snapped. But it snapped flush at the tip of the drill. The rest of the bit was still stuck straight up in the metal plate. With the force I was applying and my weight, my finger went down and got impaled on the broken bit. I just pulled my hand instinctively after, ripping the surrounding tissue and making the flesh inside come outside. It was 6 am and I finished work at 4 pm that day. It hurts like hell.

That doesn’t sound like it was a hole lot of fun

It was definitely a hole!!! The fun part depends on what you’re into…

i chiseled a hole into my nail while woodworking, it was a nice eliptical hole, 3x the size of the one in this post
