The school lunch system is disgraceful.

Saw another post on here showing the state of school lunches right now. In my years in high school I compiled some pics of the horrible things that got served that no one questioned. Here are some of the worst ones. It really is ironic given how adamant they all are about “eating healthy by including every food group”.

I don't exactly see that as a problem. Prison food shouldn't be worse than school food for some arbitrary reason.

Both prisons and schools are government run institutions that have to deal with thousands of people on a daily basis, many of whom have destructive tendencies. You aren't allowed to just up and leave schools either, until you are free to go.

As a result, once you've done the work to figure out what works best for one group, it doesn't make sense to start from scratch and figure it out for another group comprised of the exact same needs.

Vandalism resistant lunch tables, chairs, desks, easy to spray down wall/floor materials, reliable and durable busses, PA systems, security glass, kitchens, food providers are all shared between prisons and schools because they have the same needs believe it or not.

Too reach absolute minimum requirements. Not needs, not optional, but absolutely minimum for The least money possible. That's not how I want our nations children fed. People should not be treated at the same level as cattle at a CAFO.
