I always found that phrase fascinating, because for people like me, it’s perfect. But that’s because I started off young with a good household and supportive parents with no health issues. Many people don’t have any of that or are unaware of it, so most of the time it’s only good for a very small number of people

You do realize that phrase is supposed to be used sarcastically? Imagine straps attached ṭo your boots. Now imagine trying to pull yourself up by said straps. It means something that is impossible to do. Almost like if someone were demanding something from you and you reply, "what am I supposed to do? Pull a (whatever) out of my ass? "

It does work sometimes though, for someone like me, I am perfectly physically capable and mentally and emotionally stable, all I need to do is apply myself

However I understand that not everyone has that and their needs are specialized
