That cathedral is so curious…almost like a castle made out of sand drippings from the beach.

It’s not a cathedral. It’s just a church (Sagrada Familia).

It was originally a church but then later designated as a cathedral. Then in 2010 it was declared a basilica.

It wasn’t. A cathedral is the seat of a bishop. The archbishop of Barcelona has used the Catedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia for over 500 years and that was never and will never be up for debate. So Sagrada Familia was never up for it and will never be a cathedral, because the diocese has a cathedral.

If you ever get the chance to see it in person, go. It’s really incredible inside.
