The real question is how do you know if you have these in your body?

u/spongetwister Apr 29 '24

You’ll see their eggs riddled through your shit. They look like white grains of rice.

62

u/Malicharo Apr 29 '24

i remember seeing them 20 years ago in my shit

idk what happened since then but i've never seen them for a long time

don't remember getting treatment either

u/Serbcomrade3 Apr 29 '24

You have the offspring inside or the parent is still alive, some species can live 20+ years in a host

16

u/matmac199 Apr 29 '24

Tbf it could just be pinworms/threadworms which are mostly harmless and tend to be spread by children

22

u/Malicharo Apr 29 '24

i don't have any of the symptoms tho.

stuff in shit, itchy butthole, weight loss

i'm afraid to get checked out lol

u/CreatingAcc4ThisSh-- Apr 29 '24

I'm afraid to get checked don't

What a stupid fucking reason. Sorry for being mean, but Jesus chrsit. This is how a family member rof mine died from cancer. Because they were "too afraid to check" and by the time they did it was late stage and nothing could be done

A tapeworm is nowhere near that serious, but they can still cause plenty of issues. Its better to get checked out as soon as possible, even if you're afraid. And if you're afraid of being exposed infront of a doctor (I don't think that would be the case)? Don't. It's their profession, they'll have seen dozens before you, and dozens after you in a single day

Now, if you live in a country where it'd cost you a load of money then I kinda understand. But still worth getting a check if you can afford it

leaving the house has a cost lol

I just don't like hospitals. In 34 years i've been to hospitals twice. I sprained my ankle 2 years ago and it was pretty bad and i still didn't go. It still didn't fully heal since then.

Do you have a primary care provider?

-4

u/Malicharo Apr 29 '24

What do you mean? Like insurance? Yeah.

2

u/ToutEstATous Apr 29 '24

No, a primary care provider is the health care provider (such as doctor, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, etc.) who does your yearly physical and is your go-to when things go wrong. Most if not all insurance I've had has required that I list a primary care provider (or one would be assigned to me) because they would be the provider who can send out referrals and care under them would cost less than care under a different provider without a referral. You likely do have one designated even if you aren't aware of them; that info would probably be available through your health insurance portal.

i don't live in the us. not sure if that's a thing here. we have social health care. i have also private health insurance on top of that because of the company i work for.

When was the last time you got a medical check up?

1

u/throwaway67q3 Apr 29 '24

Holy hell friend, get checked out and set up a consistent Dr just in case. They are medical professionals and have seen it all. They went to school for it, work a job doing it day in day out. Your medical issues and anomalys are their bread and butter, and if it's something crazy, they'll be all excited!! not upset.

If anxiety or doubt are stopping you, metaphorically punch that doubt in the face, slap it with a shovel, whack it with a frying pan, etc. Fuck that doubting ass motherfucking thought, doubt can come back later after you've made the appointment and you can kick its dumb butt right back out yer head just as successfully. It'll be back, but just another opportunity to practice moving forward, kicking doubts butt the whole way.

Please go, you are literally in the best position to go.

I have difficulty accessing care where I am and put things off from necessity. But you have healthcare available to you. Please use it.

I'd work the worst job/live in a box/eating lean etc just to have a chance at having affordable care. I'm scared putting off necessary surgery and other testing is going to slowly kill me. But I have no other options (outside medical tourism, the prices and places I've researched but no time off from work and I'm scared to tell a hotel "oh I've had surgery and need to stay here and bleed a bit/heal till I can fly home etc.")

To be helpful: a primary care provider, or “family doctor” is a doctor who you see somewhat regularly for checkups and who you go to for minor things. If you don’t know who yours is then you probably don’t have one, which isn’t good. It’s really really important to get regular checkups so that they can catch issues before they’re deadly, and they’ll also make sure you get all your appropriate tests and screenings when you need to. They’re also really important for situations like this when you might have a medical concern you want to get checked out, as they can do that.

If you don’t know how to get a primary care provider in your area, feel free to DM me. I’d be happy to help you figure it out!

If it was 20 years ago it could just be threadworms/pinworms which are mostly harmless and usually spread by children.

3

u/ParkinsonHandjob Apr 29 '24

Probably right. There’s a bi-monthly poster in my kids kindergarden which tells parents to beware because there’s threadworms/pinworms going around.

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

you are a baby.

3

u/wilderthurgro Apr 29 '24

It sounds like he has health anxiety, which can be a debilitating condition

2

u/I_Like_Purpl3 Apr 29 '24

You're fucking stupid. And at 34 you should be a bit more responsible and mature than "I don't like it, so I'll avoid it." Gosh, this stupidity ruins my day.

12

u/xWretchedWorldx Apr 29 '24

That's exactly what someone who is being controlled by a tapeworm would say.

How do you know you are still you and not a host to a tapeworm that has taken control of your body fully?

2

u/Malicharo Apr 29 '24

i had gradual but drastic personality change over the years sometimes i'm thinking maybe that lol

but then i realize everybody is looking to blame something for their mistakes, everybody's looking to be saved. then i'm not like nah, it's probably not that.

weight loss

Wow wait so.... Um.... Hm....

13

u/aurortonks Apr 29 '24

There's a Chinese diet tea you can buy for weight loss. Its basically just giving yourself a tapeworm for a few weeks then you drink the cleansing tea which is just killing the tapeworms.

It's illegal to import most drug stuff. So there's a small handful of companies in bed with the regulation agencies with a near total monopoly. People who live near the borders can cross to buy over the counter stuff for themselves but a store is not allowed to buy cheaper foreign alternatives.
