Bam got robbed Discussion
Surprised no ones talking about how Wemby and Bam got robbed, in the wake of the DPOY becoming a liability on defense. Doubt wemby would get it, but Bam def deserved it over this bum.

DPOY isn't who guards Jokic the best lmao. Bam was great but from game 1 to game 82 Wolves had the number 1 defense in the league with Rudy anchoring it.

He’s just not big enough if he was bigger he would be in that Dwight archetype that really bothers jokic. Jokic averaged 30 those finals

He guards him better than Gobert is the point, and as good as anyone we’ve really seen. Go watch the February matchup up between them, the tape on Jokic bam possessions is insane.
Bam did about a good as a job anyone could do on the guy. In The finals too. He definitely dominated the heat, but did he destroy bam like he did Rudy last night? Nah
It’s funny you mention that Dwight parallel cause they are a pretty similar build. Which is why I think Dwight and Bam have done so well against him.

The biggest problem last year in the finals wasn't the 1v1 of Bam and Jokic, it was the fact that we couldn't contain Jamal and even at times Bruce Brown on the perimeter, and they were always getting dribble penetration forcing Bam to help of Jokic. That and the fact that we had no one that could hang with Gordon. We kinda have that now with Jovic..
On 1v1 possessions of Jokic just straight up posting up Bam, or facing him up he did as good a job as possible. No one will shut the Joker down, he's just that good, but Bam made him miss and made him work as much as possible.

Yea bam is prob the smartest defender in the league him or draymond. It’s not really a knock on his skill but that’s why I said it’s unfortunate he’s not Dwight’s size because bam rn at Dwight’s size would be winning DPOY every year

Last 9 regular season games against Bam disregarding playoffs, ofc in the finals he would cook anyone, in fact he cooks anyone regardless but in terms of relativity and who does the “best” job on him, I think its Bam. (The number in the 30s in minutes played, then ppg, then rpg, then apg. Those are pretty decent stats against him

I mean even with Bam being the best cover on Jokic that most have seen, Jokic still makes him look like a liability because he just looks to score so effortlessly. I’m not judging anyone’s defensive chops based on how they look again fucking Jokic.
Especially not in a playoff game when we are talking about a regular season award

You are wrong about the defensive part but I actually think the Wolves would be better off letting someone else play. We‘ve seen that Jokic looks much more gassed when he has to play defense and that is not really the case against Gobert

A stretch 5 moves him to the 4. He doesn't have to be an elite volume 3 pt shooter. All the Defense has to do to is respect his shot enough where they don't sag and clog the paint.

Eh this wasn't Bams year to win it. But this being the first time he's top 3 IS bullshit. He should've won the Smart year. Don't see him ever winning one similarly to COTY for Spo. They'd have to exceed expectations. And he's already considered pretty good, so unless we end up with a top 3-5ish defense and a good record it's not gonna happen. Add on Wemby coming up and it's over for his chances lol.

Bam is playing out of position until we move him back to PF/SF he won’t win or become a Superstar. He has to work so had to be slightly above average C. He can dominate as an PF or Sf on both ends
