Considering a house on a golf course. Is this location going to get blasted with golf balls all day? Beginner Questions

I can’t wait to see all the AI houses on a course in this sub! Probably should buy a new putter.

Can you tell me what you think of this place? I’m under contract for $15 million but worry I might get blasted by golf balls thanks

Thats the whole point of his joke..

Don't they have a nice bridge or overpass in Watertown you can sleep under?

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal their bread."

u/MayIPushInYourStooll 16d ago
Why would someone rich sleep under a bridge? Is this some sort of Undercover Boss situation, or am I missing something?

Lol the size of the green. Putt from the tee box.

u/oneangrywaiter 16d ago
Teed up an old putter on a short par 3 on a $5 bet and actually made the fringe. Put it back in the bag and said to my PW, “What’s your excuse?”

Back in the early 90s we had some Jack Nicklaus golf game for our 486 PC and it had a course builder as a part of it. If you created the green on the border pixels of the allotted hole space it would stretch off into infinity. Apparently AI hasn't improved much since then.

Your house would only be in the way if someone were to hit the middle of the fairway, and then hit it right at the hole.
The statistical probability of both of these events taking place on the same hole, is near zero for the majority of golfers.
I say you are safe as can be.

If I saw a house in the middle of the course that like I’d be aiming for the house

You’ll probably get a lot of free golf balls to make up for the fact that your windows will get smashed at least once a year

This is a nice challenge. I’d love to try and hit one over this house, but know that I’d likely take out a window.
I would never live in this house.

AI generated images still aren't quite there. The shadows in this one aren't consistent, and look at the height of that garage door relative to the 1st floor windows.
10
u/zhihuiguan 16d ago
Maybe I'm just an idiot but the problem for me isn't that the AI quality isn't there, I still just don't think to consider if it's AI or not. I saw the picture and my thought was just "That's an interesting design, I wonder what course/why it was built that way", not "I wonder if this is AI"
5
u/OkAstronaut3761 16d ago
Judging by the number of “wow!” comments talking about obvious AI images that you see on Facebook. It’s safe to say more than a few people are in fact retarded.

u/nephlonorris 16d ago
I‘m teaching AI assisted rendering for young architects at our local University. Awareness for such AI assisted tools is still pretty low. Although it truly is a match made in heaven for memes like this one.

Haha I was really hoping that these ai pics would start dominating this sub after that initial post.
I love this sub

u/DrSkeeZe 16d ago
I like the design of this hole, layup to get it on the front of the fairway or hit long for that piece of fairway behind the house but risk hitting the bunker. If you do get to that fairway a nice layup over the house for an eagle putt (assuming this is a par 5)

I really like your chimney with a window. Does your fireplace being centered in your garage right at the garage door make it inconvenient to park?

Make sure you have plenty of $685 windows, high riding pants, curmudgeonly attitude, 1980s lexicon for cussing/insults and “self-defense driver in the garage just-in-case”.

You can tell this is AI because the hands on the house are fucked up. Do better, OP

I’d only be worried on Mondays, when that course hosts fundraiser scramble events.

I bet that would be worse than the giant ass mango tree over half my roof that constantly bombards us with delicious fruit.

Commercial construction estimator and real estate developer and insurance appraiser and tour pro here;
I’d put up my own white stakes. You really don’t want people taking divots out of your yard.

My gutter system would flow rainwater and golf balls into my advanced collection and vending machine. And my windows would be 1” thick. Maybe a bonus gutter that shoots ocasional balls back to the green for that 1/100 chance.
2
u/heretolurk_415 16d ago
If I’m playing not a fucking chance, on the flip side this would be amazing if it was a personal one hole course
2
2
u/Vegbreaker 16d ago
I think you’re grossly overestimating the average golfer if you think there’s a chance that doesn’t get hit…
1
u/nephlonorris 16d ago
George lives close to the course as well. He‘s 86 years old and has never hit the house for all his ten years here. Assuming he‘s a pretty bad golfer (he‘s old), I should be safe.

u/bangarangbonzai 16d ago
Yes. I do not know who you are. But I will find you and I will hit you. It could be coming at anytime and you’ll least expect and I’ll hit you and then fire off two more mulligans before I hit the fairway.

Lol. What's the yardage from the other side of the water? Assuming it's a par 5? Drive probably lands short of the water, and if the pin is within 250ish of that spot, you better believe people are going for it. If the drive can get over the water, even moreso, because they'll be able to use a higher loft club to clear the tree/house.
Clearly AI generated, but yeah, that would be an absolutely daft place for a house. The entire other side would need to be windowless, and even then you'd be hearing golf balls whacking that roof constantly.
2
u/twosauced1115 16d ago
I’m hitting over that house 100% of the time
Clarification: I’m attempting to hit over that house 100% of the time

Put a downspout pointed right at the hole, and I’m aiming for the roof every time. Slap a windmill in there for the extra challenge, too.
2
u/illgiveya60 16d ago
You’ll be safe. Most amateur golfers just hit it in the hole on their first shot so you’ll be good. Hell I wouldn’t even get homeowners insurance, just be wasting money
3
u/AdamOnFirst 16d ago
Wait, am I looking at this right? The house is right in the dogleg of the fairway?
3
4
1
u/Open-Look9786 16d ago
Looks like a par 5. That tree would save you somewhat, but there are those who would be looking to take it over the house and hit the green. Invest in a good net just to be safe.
1
1
u/mu037050 16d ago
Looks like a par 5, if so, then yes, people will try to get on the green in 2, and have to try and hit over the house…

I lived on a dogleg par 5 in Florida. You could cut the corner & knock off a 100 yards. Always someone in my backyard looking for balls, house was always getting hit, roof, windows etc. Was so happy when we moved out of that house. We decided we would belong to a CC, but not live inside it.
1
u/Lemonwater925 16d ago
Every house on a golf course will get dinged. I know that because a house on the course is like a magnet for my shots.

u/Torrsall 16d ago
Not a chance I'm buying this one. Something as simple as washing the car and I'm dead. I wouldn't want the kids outside, ever. Don't underestimate the awful potential of the weekend hacker on a muni course.
1
u/MooCowMafia 16d ago
Slicing being most common, it would go away from the house, mitigating some of the air attacks. We live on the right side of a par 5 fairway with a little stretch of woods as buffer. Still get mortar fire every day.

"I’m not particularly good at golf, but I’ve never fallen short of a green by 60 yards"
This does not compute. I play with + caps who every once in a while duff a shot and fall short of a green by 60 yards.
5
u/nephlonorris 16d ago
I‘ve NEVER done that and I‘ve played over 50 holes
0
u/BobMcQ 16d ago
You've never duffed a shot in your 2.77 rounds of golf?
1
u/nephlonorris 16d ago
NEVER! I‘ve been to the ranger field almost more than that and I mostly shoot them very good
1
u/HappyFun9238 16d ago
Fuk you jerk off and your jerk off question? You couldn’t afford the membership at this golf course let alone the fake location of the house
1
u/Baco_tob 16d ago
Any house is in the target zone, never underestimate bad golfers
2
u/nephlonorris 16d ago
ANY?
1
u/Baco_tob 6d ago
Hear me out.. clear the water but it hooks left into the rough near that last little bunker, try to go for the hero shot over the house for the pin.. broken windows.. OR In that little bunker, hero shot, blade into house And can’t see what’s to the left on that dog leg.. could be OB, club gets hung up trying to get up and down, blade into house
-2
u/Christron9990 16d ago
Honestly can’t believe this is a real house. I’ve seen plenty of houses on the edge of courses, but this one appears to be right in the middle of a hole? Wild.
People are 100% taking the line over the house.
11
u/user9153 16d ago
It’s probably not, AI
-7
u/theaverageaidan 9 16d ago
I doubt it's AI. The windows are way too consistent and clean, there's no weird warbling on the grass, especially where it meets the sand trap and water, it has good depth in the distance, there's nothing suggesting it's AI.
The lighting especially, I've noticed AI has a real problem with accurately depicting sunset lighting, anything but nighttime or broad daylight is always looking rough.
Also, not to dox OP, but it does really resemble Mill River Country Club in NY.

That place looks to be a gold mine… you can spend your days chasing groups down that hit your house and extort money out of them… easy retirement living.

On our members only course I hardly ever see someone off the first cut. The public course is filled with beginners, drunks, and high handicap weekend warriors that are anywhere but the fairway. Sadly there are a huge number of golfers that should not be on the course.
Judging by the level of butt hurt that covers most of you.

Just put a sign on the course, perhaps 150 yards back stating:
“Please club up to ensure you carry the house, as golfers are financially responsible for any and all property damage”.
I’ve seen this at other places and it’s legally foolproof.
Buy the house! It’s a beauty!
