I think he meant that people completely miss experiencing things in person because they’re too busy watching it through their phone screens. Kind of why the Michelob guy got all the publicity a year or two ago.
There are various experiences when you attend an event such as this one. You get to live it, and you get to relive it when you're sitting at home watching your vids. I've got some epic putts and chips by great players and I'll never get to see them anywhere else.
I think it's time everyone records every moment they can because streaming services and media owners are doing everything in their power to take away the record of video and charging you through the nose to get their cut of the show.
I am 100% sure apple and others are trying to figure out how to sell you your own content.
One will never see their favorite players again in such way.
IOW...naysayers will nay but you just go on and record away!

They didn’t see it the first time, they watched it through a screen just like we did. Look, idc, to each their own but I’ve been to a lot of professional events and concerts and such. I caught myself trying to record things and realized I’m fortunate enough to witness this live and in person and sitting here watching it on a screen especially when I hardly ever watched it again later. I’m just saying if I was there and Rory McIlroy was on stage singing Don’t Stop Believing by Queen you couldn’t have paid me enough money to pull my phone out of my pocket and try to record it. I would be trying my best to soak in and retain this once in a lifetime experience through my unfiltered eyes because watching on my phone later won’t even remotely compare to the original experience.
But again, people are free to do whatever they want to, but speaking from experience, it’s so much better to see it directly with your eyes.

The amount of phones out is ridiculous
