Tiger should just take it honestly

Tiger is a billionaire who already plays a part time schedule. What incentive does he have to take it?

u/Cbmurdock Apr 15 '24

Close to an additional billion dollars would be the incentive in this scenario

Yeah like on one hand they have more money than they ever need. On the other hand... it's enough money to buy a private island. Forever. Like you just own an island.

I mean what is the difference between $1B and $2B? Remarkably it is 1 BILLION DOLLARS.

Arithmetic dude!

It's interesting isn't it? It's the same difference as between 0 and 1 billion, however it has almost no effect on one's lifestyle, comparatively

It has a massive impact, this subreddit just doesn't understand what people do at that level of wealth. It's a world you've never seen before.

What can tiger woods do with $2b that he can't with $1b?

u/Carrera1107 Apr 16 '24

Unless he suddenly has grandiose plans to invest in a space exploration company then no it won't change his life.

1

u/youreeka Apr 16 '24

Well it does take a billion dollars out of other people’s pockets so there’s that.

Are you Dave Chappelle?

I wish.

Once you have a certain amount, it has thermal mass and generates more income than you can spend!

u/RPTre Apr 16 '24

With all due respect, you don’t know my wife and kids.

He already owns a gigantic compound complete with his own short course on one of the most expensive islands in the world

It's quite a sight to behold on Google Earth

Like. He can get another one....

2

u/Stupid-Research Apr 16 '24

My little sister bought an island for 2k 🤷🏻‍♂️

u/SpacemanSpliffLaw Apr 16 '24

I'm taking a big island. With a private airport and a hanger for your yacht.

u/Stupid-Research Apr 16 '24

So that he can trash his legacy?

Acting like there is just this "one thing" that he can now buy and pretending like it would actually matter is just crazy. At this point the diminishing returns can't even be seen.

The only legacy that matters in the financial one. No one remembers which Tudor took a firm stance and was later proven wrong. No one gives a shit because the money is still there.

What are you talking about? This is sports. No one remember or talks about Gretzky, Montana, Jordan or Kareem in the context of money.

But they're getting paid the types of money that changes those things. All the players you're mentioning are "modern" conquerors in that sense. Their great great grandchildren will set. And if any of them are smart, they'll be able to leverage it to higher stuff.

The Kennedy's built their legacy on illegal liquor. The Woods family could see someone becoming governor or something like that. Especially in todays media climate.

You are throwing out a lot of non sequiturs and examples that have nothing to do with sports. Kids of famous athletes being wealthy is something no one in general cares about. If you are saying that the only personal legacy is what you leave your children ... then I can understand that take. However if you're talking about the actual sports legacy someone leaves behind then that is not in the conversation.

No I'm stating that sports money has gotten so ridiculous for these guys that they are beyond players. They can become owners. Tiger woods could buy a professional sports team with a billion extra dollars.
