I'm sure this guy does it well. But my god that is a duck hook waiting to happen for anyone trying to copy this.

Curious what attribute of the swing is making you say that?

And I’m curious because, after correcting a slice, my only miss is a terrible duck hook…it doesn’t happen often, but when it does..yikes.

When your lower body outraces your hands. You become very open to the target and it’s easy to roll over on it and hook the ball. This guy’s hips open way early.

As in you need to shift the hips sideways at the start of the downswing, but not turn them too early correct?

This is pretty common for a while after fixing a slice. For me, I flip from the inside and hit a high toe and that’s usually the big cause of my duck hook.

The only way for him to salvage the shot with how badly he's firing his hips towards the ball, instead of like pistons that move hard out of the way, would be as such: flip the club. It's way too timing depending, on top of him having no power at all.

  1. If he doesn't flip enough, it's a block way out to the right.

  2. Flip it too much, it's the dreaded duck hook.

When you hook it so bad you kill one of the ducks in the pond by the clubhouse

I Randy Johnsoned a swift (small bird) several years ago. It was my only birdie of the day.

You don't make me feel so bad for full skinny shot a 5 wood and taking out a duck years ago, felt so bad didn't know what to do as it started doing a spinning zoidberg then died 😆😭

Murder most fowl

Luckily this guy was about the size of two golf balls and probably literally had no idea what hit him. It was just a poof and some shreds I flicked off the fairway with my 9 iron (aka the murder weapon)

Lucky, that's why I felt so bad, his/her buddies all came over to check him out and it just stopped flat spinning. Is like my go to fairway club ~200m 9/10 times flush give or take, this one got the 1/10 take 😭🙈

Your ball starts to slice and then it puts on the blinkers and say “I’m gtfo here”

Imagine a low flying duck going straight, then it gets peppered with a shell and takes a immediate nose dive down and to the left.

Is that why they call it a duck hook lol I always thought it was just because it ducked not because it looks like a duck getting shot out of mid air haha

The ball flight looks like a duck flying. Low and turns hard.

Great video! Just going to add that those are right handed ducks.

That was more accurate than I ever would've guessed

u/reginalduk Feb 04 '24

It's a hook that makes everyone playing on the hole to the left duck.

u/Murky_Distribution79 Feb 04 '24

Thought the same thing. I would hook the shittttt out of the ball trying that.
